Black Queens forward Doris Boaduwaa has expressed her delight after scoring a sensational hat-trick in Ghana’s dominant victory over Egypt, securing the team’s place at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The Black Queens confirmed qualification on Tuesday, October 28, with a resounding 7-0 aggregate win. After a 3-0 triumph in the first leg in Ismailia, Ghana maintained their superiority in the return leg in Accra, cruising to a 4-0 victory. Boaduwaa starred with three goals, while Comfort Yeboah added the fourth.
“I’m happy to have scored a hat-trick. What I couldn’t achieve at the last WAFCON, hopefully, I’ve settled in these two games. WAFCON again, so watch out,” Boaduwaa told 3Sports.
This marks Ghana’s second consecutive qualification for the continental tournament. Following their bronze medal finish at the 2025 WAFCON in Morocco, the Black Queens are now focused on winning the title next year.
The 2026 WAFCON will also double as a qualifying tournament for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup, providing extra motivation for Ghana’s in-form squad.
