Super Falcons head coach, Justin Madugu, has earned a nomination for the prestigious 2025 Women’s Team Coach of the Year Trophy.
Madugu’s inclusion comes on the heels of Nigeria’s triumphant campaign at the 2024 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), where he guided the Super Falcons to glory.
His exceptional leadership throughout the tournament also saw him named the WAFCON 2024 Coach of the Tournament.
He faces stiff competition from four other high-profile coaches: Sarina Wiegman of England’s Lionesses, Renée Slegers of Arsenal Women, Brazil Women’s coach Arthur Elias, and Chelsea Women’s coach Sonia Bompastor.
The Women’s Johan Cruyff Trophy, introduced in 2024, celebrates the best coach in women’s football globally. Emma Hayes was the inaugural winner, recognised for her remarkable 2023/24 season achievements.
The winner of the 2025 edition will be officially announced on September 22.
