
Matchday 5 of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League produced thrilling encounters and dramatic results across the country’s various match centres.
Action began on Friday at the TNA Park, where Medeama SC climbed back to the top of the table after edging Dreams FC 2-1. Abdul Salam opened the scoring for the visitors in the 19th minute, but Christian Owusu levelled for the “Still Believe” side. Owusu later struck again late in the game to hand the “Yellow and Mauve” a vital home victory.
Saturday’s fixtures saw Nations FC held to a goalless draw by Asante Kotoko at the Dr Kwame Kyei Sports Complex, while Vision FC delivered a statement performance at the Nii Adjei Kraku II Sports Complex, thumping defending champions Bibiani GoldStars 3-0. After a cagey first half, Samed Sumaila Abdul broke the deadlock in the 56th minute, doubled his tally in the 85th, before Mohammed Iddrisu sealed the win with a late strike.
On Sunday, Aduana FC came from behind to defeat Bechem United 2-1 at the Nana Agyemang Badu II Park. Darlvin Yeboah gave the visitors a first-half lead, but goals from Alex Boakye and Emmanuel Marfo after the break completed the turnaround for the “Ogya Boys.”
Hohoe United impressed at home, defeating Swedru All Blacks 2-0 at the Hohoe Sports Stadium. Paul Kwame and Safian Osman scored in the 26th and 41st minutes respectively to secure all three points.
At the Aliu Mahama Stadium, Karela United were held to a 1-1 draw by Berekum Chelsea. Bless Ege put the hosts ahead in the 8th minute before Kwesi Badori equalised in the 35th.
In Samreboi, FC Samartex continued their fine run with a 2-1 victory over struggling Eleven Wonders at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena. Emmanuel Mamah bagged a brace for Samartex in the 20th and 63rd minutes, while Eden Kofi Asamoah pulled one back for the visitors late on.
Elsewhere, Young Apostles defeated Basake Holy Stars 2-0 at the Wenchi Sports Stadium thanks to goals from Issah Huseine and Ramzy Abubakar in each half.
Matchday 5 concludes on Monday at the Accra Sports Stadium, where Hearts of Oak will aim to preserve their unbeaten record when they face Heart of Lions. Kick-off is set for 16:00 GMT.
After the weekend’s games, Medeama SC, Heart of Lions, Young Apostles, and Aduana FC occupy the top four positions, while Basake Holy Stars, Dreams FC, and Eleven Wonders find themselves at the foot of the table.
