The third round of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season produced drama across the country, with late goals, shock results, and a rain-interrupted fixture.
At the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, Hearts of Oak secured their first win of the campaign, edging Eleven Wonders 1-0 courtesy of Enock Asubonteng’s 20th-minute strike.
On Saturday, Aduan FC came from behind to defeat Swedru All Blacks 2-1 at the Nana Agyemang Badu II Park. Kweku Baffoe had given the visitors a 15th-minute lead, but Emmanuel Marfo inspired a turnaround with a second-half brace in the 48th and 87th minutes.
Sunday’s fixtures saw Heart of Lions extend their perfect start to the season with a 1-0 win over Bechem United in Kpando. Michael Ephson’s goal just before the hour mark secured their third consecutive victory and sent Bashir Hayford’s side to the top of the table with nine points.
Karela United also moved into the early title picture after a 79th-minute strike from Felix Mortu sealed a 1-0 triumph over Medeama SC at the Aliu Mahama Stadium, punishing the visitors despite their control of the game.
Elsewhere, Nations FC and FC Samartex shared the spoils in a goalless draw at the Dr Kwame Kyei Sports Complex. Vision FC, meanwhile, recorded their first win of the campaign, defeating Hohoe United 2-0 in Tema. Nana Kusi Asante converted a 54th-minute penalty before Emmanuel Sanja doubled the lead two minutes later.
The fixture between Young Apostles and Dreams FC at Wenchi was abandoned at half-time due to heavy rainfall, with the hosts leading 1-0 through Richmond Opoku’s 30th-minute effort. The remaining 45 minutes will be played on Monday, September 29.
Two games — Basake Holy Stars v Asante Kotoko and Bibiani GoldStars v Berekum Chelsea — were postponed owing to Kotoko’s and GoldStars’ involvement in CAF interclub competitions.
After Matchday 3, Heart of Lions, Karela United, Hearts of Oak and Medeama SC occupy the top four spots, while Eleven Wonders, Dreams FC and Berekum Chelsea remain in the relegation zone.
