2025/26 GHPL: Bibiani GoldStars edge Swedru All Blacks to maintain perfect start

Bibiani GoldStars bounced back from their continental disappointment with a narrow 1-0 victory over Swedru All Blacks in the Ghana Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

Playing at the Swedru Sports Stadium, the defending champions showed grit and resilience to grind out a crucial win, just days after their painful 7-0 aggregate defeat to Algerian side JS Kabylie in the CAF Champions League preliminary round.

After a goalless first half, Michael Nkoah broke the deadlock in the 48th minute, firing home what proved to be the decisive goal for the Miners.

GoldStars’ defence held firm as Swedru All Blacks pressed for an equaliser, with the visitors’ goalkeeper producing key saves to preserve their slender advantage.

Late on, Samuel Atta Kumi nearly added a second, only to see his effort crash against the woodwork following a defensive lapse by the hosts.

The win keeps Bibiani GoldStars’ perfect league record intact after two matches, following their opening 2-1 triumph over Bechem United.

Next up, Swedru All Blacks travel to the Nsenkyire Sports Arena to face FC Samartex, while GoldStars prepare for a headline clash against Asante Kotoko.
