The curtains have fallen on the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season, with Bibiani GoldStars making history by winning their first-ever league title on Sunday, June 8.
In a thrilling conclusion to the campaign, GoldStars delivered a statement performance at DUN’s Park, thrashing Accra Lions 4-0 to seal the championship. Abdul Farouk Amoaful set the tone with an early strike in the 4th minute, sparking celebrations among the home supporters. Kelvin Oppong added a second in the 19th minute, giving the league leaders a comfortable 2-0 advantage at the break.
The dominance continued after the interval, as Samuel Kumi and Frank Amankwah found the back of the net in the 73rd and 90th minutes, respectively, ensuring a comprehensive win and securing the title with a three-point lead.
Elsewhere, Accra Hearts of Oak capped their season with a narrow 1-0 victory over former champions FC Samartex 1996 at the Accra Sports Stadium. Defender Konadu Yiadom netted the decisive goal in the 57th minute, earning Hearts their first Premier League win against Samartex.
At the Tuba Astro Turf, Dreams FC put on a goal-scoring display with a 4-1 victory over Legon Cities. Jonathan Nemorden scored a brace, while Joseph Esso and Suraj Seidu added to the tally. Albert Adomah scored a consolation for Legon Cities, who have now been relegated.
Bechem United wrapped up their season with a 1-0 win over Young Apostles at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park, courtesy of a second-half penalty from Baba Moro Abdulai.
In Dormaa, Aduana FC ended on a high, defeating Basake Holy Stars 3-1. Richard Tetteh opened the scoring for the hosts before Francis Obeng equalized. However, goals from Emmanuel Marfo and Alex Boakye in the second half restored Aduana’s lead and sealed the win.
Nations FC ended their campaign with a disappointing 2-0 home loss to Heart of Lions at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Stadium. Samuel Boamah Quansah and Asante Sedorf were on target for the visitors.
At TNA Park, Medeama SC suffered a 2-1 home defeat to Berekum Chelsea. Vincent Klu Adjei gave the visitors the lead, which was canceled out by Kingsley Braye. But former Medeama forward Kofi Ansu Patrick returned to haunt his old club with a late winner in the 85th minute.
Finally, Vision FC stunned Asante Kotoko at the Nii Kraku Adjei II Sports Complex with a 3-1 comeback win. Despite taking an early lead through an own goal by Lord Xorse Kudzinya, Kotoko couldn’t hold on as Frank Duku netted twice and Edmund Asante added a third to secure a memorable victory for the hosts.
