The Agona Swedru Magistrate Court has granted bail to students of Swedru Senior High Technical School (SHTS) who were arrested for attacking students of Obrachire Senior High Technical School (OSTEC) during an inter-school competition.
However, two of the suspects were remanded into police custody by the court, presided over by His Worship Victor Kussi, and are expected to reappear on March 11, 2026, as investigations continue.
The arrests followed the violent confrontation that disrupted the inter-school event and left several students traumatized. Authorities have since taken steps to ensure accountability and restore calm within the affected school communities.
One parent of a suspect, speaking after the court proceedings, appealed to authorities to temper justice with mercy, noting that the students involved are final-year candidates preparing for their examinations. The parent urged that the students be allowed to sit for their final exams despite the ongoing legal process.
The latest development comes after earlier reports of tensions between the two schools, which escalated into a physical attack during the event. The incident raised concerns among school authorities and education stakeholders, prompting swift police intervention.
Meanwhile, the victim, who has been discharged and is responding to treatment, has called for justice to be served.
The case remains under investigation, with further court proceedings expected to determine the next steps.
