Nag-Fairmont Construction Company has begun the installation of footbridges along the Kasoa–Winneba Highway as part of the ongoing dualisation project aimed at improving pedestrian safety and reducing road accidents.
The move comes amid growing concerns over pedestrian-related road crashes, with the National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) recording 181 pedestrian deaths during the first four months of 2026.

The development has renewed calls for improved road safety measures, including safer crossing facilities and stricter enforcement against reckless driving on major highways.
As part of the project, 13 footbridges and four pedestrian underpasses are being constructed along the Kasoa–Winneba Highway to provide safe crossing points for residents, commuters and other road users.
Speaking to Adom News, some pedestrians and motorists welcomed the initiative, commending Nag-Fairmont Construction Company and the government for including pedestrian facilities in the highway project.

They expressed hope that the footbridges and underpasses would help reduce pedestrian knockdowns and save lives when completed.
The facilities form part of broader efforts to improve safety along one of the country’s busiest road corridors.
