Nii Kofeh, who is also La Shikitele questioned the legal grounds for the decision to suspend its operations.

The Ministry of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, in consultation with the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs, announced the suspension of the Council’s activities in order to put measures towards improving the Council’s operations.

However, during a news conference in Accra, Nii Adjei Koofeh IV criticised the suspension, which took effect from September 26, 2024, until further notice.

According to the institutions, the suspension is intended to allow the implementation of appropriate measures for the effective operation of the Council.

Government institutions have been instructed not to engage with any individual or groups claiming to represent the La Traditional Council.

Additionally, all paramount stool land issues have been placed on hold until the suspension is lifted by the government.

Nii Adjei Koofeh V, however, denied the allegations that it was involved in the illegal selling of lands.

La Traditional Council reacts to bribery allegations in Burma Camp land reclamation https://www.adomonline.com/la-traditional-council-reacts-to-bribery-allegations-in-burma-camp-land-reclamation/ Thu, 28 Sep 2023 16:30:15 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2299511 The La Traditional Council has refuted allegations that some persons are attempting to bribe them regarding the reclamation of 114 acres of land at the Kpletso site within the Burma Camp catchment area.

The Council held a ceremony last week to signify the reclamation of the land following years of negotiations between them and the military.

However, the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) in a statement disputed the claims of transferring the land to the La Traditional Council, as they had not yet received directives from the Ministry of Defence to do so.

But addressing the media on Thursday, Nii Adjei Koofeh IV, the La Shikiteli, affirmed that they had initiated discussions with the military to seek an amicable resolution to the matter.

“We have initiated discussions with various stakeholders concerning the land reclamation process. I want to assure you that we are committed to reclaiming our lands. While there have been allegations of attempts to bribe us regarding the land, I want to clarify that these claims are unfounded.

Our intent in recovering the land is not driven by any malicious intentions; rather, it is to safeguard and put it to proper use,” he stated.”

Stay away from our lands – Armed Forces warns Ghanaians https://www.adomonline.com/stay-away-from-our-lands-armed-forces-warns-ghanaians/ Wed, 27 Sep 2023 14:04:19 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2298922 The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has warned the general public to stay away from all of its lands, particularly in Burma Camp.

The message of caution, according to the Military High Command, comes on the back of reports which claimed it had released a portion of its Burma Camp land to the La Traditional Council.

In a statement, GAF said the media reports indicated that 114 acres of Burma Camp Land have been released to the Council.

“This claim was made by the La Traditional Council during a ceremony which was performed to signify the reclamation of the said land,” the statement noted.

The statement acknowledged there are ongoing discussions by a committee set up by the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources to deliberate and recommend possible measures to resolve the land issue.

However, GAF said that it has not received any directives from the Ministry of Defence, which is its supervising Ministry, directing that the land should be released to the La Traditional Council.

Neither has any government agency directed the Ghana Armed Forces to release any land to any Traditional Authority.

“Indeed, those lands remain a critical need of the Ghana Armed Forces for the preservation of State security,” the statement stressed.
