The Judicial Service of Ghana has announced that Monday, March 16 to Friday, March 20, 2026, will be observed as Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Week across the country.

According to a press release, the declaration was made by the Paul Baffoe-Bonnie as part of activities for the legal year term.

The theme for this year’s celebration is “Adoption of Innovation and Technology to Enhance Access to Justice Delivery through Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR).”

The initiative aims to raise public awareness about the role of ADR in the justice system and encourage court users to resolve disputes through mediation and other alternative mechanisms.

During the week, courts nationwide will dedicate time to settling cases through the Mass Mediation Exercise, providing parties with the opportunity to resolve disputes outside the traditional court process.

A total of 138 courts, including 35 Circuit Courts and 103 District Courts, will participate in the exercise.

The week will officially be launched with a press briefing at the High Court in Sunyani on March 16, where the Chief Justice will address the media.

The Judicial Service notes that the ADR programme is part of the Court-Connected ADR initiative, which seeks to make access to justice faster, cheaper, and more flexible for the public, particularly for the poor and vulnerable.
