National Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, has mounted a spirited defence for his Chairman over his decision to acquire 275 buses for the party.

Ahead of his election the NPP chairman, Freddie Blay, came under heavy criticism for seeking an 11 million dollar loan to purchase the buses for the various constituencies.

Many, including civil society organizations as well as the Minority in Parliament have called for a probe into the source of funding for the vehicles. Mr Blay says he has nothing to hide.

But speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Wednesday, Nana Boakye said the Minority and the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) were being myopic in thinking.

He explained that all the NPP Chairman’s sought to do was to end the constituencies’ dependence on the National headquarters for support.

Rather than criticizing Mr Blay’s initiative, Nana Boakye urged the NDC to adopt it and replicate it in their constituencies.

“NDC should stop this hypocrisy and think outside the box. The MPs making noise should start it in their constituencies” he stated.

Nana Boakye added that they will support any proposal aimed at raising additional revenue for the NPP.
