Workers of Ecobank Ghana Limited (EGH) and its subsidiary and customers across the country have donated a total of 800 pints of blood to the National Blood Bank as part of their annual ‘Blood is Life’ CSR campaign.
A statement from the company said the gesture was to support efforts at re-stocking the national blood bank, which often report shortage of blood.
The banked pulled staff from the mother company and also from eProcess, Ecobank Development Corporation and Pan African Savings and Loans to donate blood at four centres across the country namely Accra, Tema, Kumasi and Tamale.
Customers of the bank also joined the exercise at various centres to generate the 800 pints, which is significantly higher than the 500 pints the bank donated in a similar exercise last year.
Speaking to donors at the Ecobank Ghana Head office in Accra, the Managing Director, Dan Sackey, underscored the bank’s resolve to contribute to the enhancement of healthcare in Ghana.
He said, “We are confident that this exercise will save lives, families and homes. We will continue to contribute our quota in meeting the health needs of Ghanaians.”
Dan Sackey encouraged employees and customers of Ecobank to become regular blood donors, and donate blood at least once every year.
He assured clients that Ecobank will continue to undertake activities that will be of benefit to them.
The Regional Head of Marketing and Communication for EGH and AWA, Patricia Sappor mentioned that giving back to society is the ultimate in life, adding that life is precious, and the Ecobank “Blood is Life” exercise will continue to help restock our blood banks to save lives.
The staff members of Ecobank Ghana, Ecobank Development Corporation (EDC), eProcess, Pan African Savings and Loans Company and customers of the bank who participated in the exercise also expressed their excitement about the opportunity to donate blood to help save lives.
