Thirteen constituency executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Akwatia have resigned their positions, citing unfair treatment by former MP for the area, Baba Jamal and Anita De Soso, national vice chairperson of the party.

According to Henry Boakye Yiadom, constituency vice chairman, notwithstanding their sacrifices and efforts for the party over the years, he and some executives in the constituency are being accused falsely and threatened with suspension.

Their decision follows a disagreement between them and Anita De Soso during a meeting to resolve issues surrounding the party’s branch election in the constituency.

Some party members believed to be followers of the former MP, petitioned the party to suspend them, accusing them of contributing to Baba’s defeat during the 2016 parliamentary elections.

Henry Boakye Yiadom, popularly known as Okoyo, says they are not content with the conduct of Anita De Soso in resolving the issue.

“They called us to Koforidua to meet Anita and when we got there, as if she had a prejudiced mindset, she started making certain pronouncements which didn’t auger well for a party that wants to unite its front. In fact I got furious as I responded to the queries leveled against me,” he said.

The vice chairman, contrary to claims that he campaigned against his own party, wondered why he will donate his personal money to the party during the elections and turn round to campaign against it.

He told Joy News that their membership with the party remains unchanged despite resigning their positions.
