Teachers, health workers to receive salary arrears starting this month

    The Controller and Accountant-General’s Department (CAGD) has announced that education and health sector workers affected by outstanding salary arrears will begin receiving payments this month, with full disbursement expected to run through August 2026.

    In a statement issued on Tuesday, May 26, the Department said the payment of arrears dating back to August 2024 has already started and will be completed in line with an approved schedule.

    CAGD explained that the arrears will be paid in four tranches, with each tranche covering four months of outstanding salaries. The payments are scheduled for May, June, July, and August 2026.

    According to the Department, the first tranche is expected to be completed by Friday, May 29, 2026.

    It added that subsequent payments will follow the approved timetable until all outstanding arrears are fully cleared.

    “CAGD thanks all affected beneficiaries for their patience and forbearance,” the statement said.
