The chaos erupted at the vote transfer center on Wednesday, June 5, after a heated dispute over alleged illegal vote transfers.

A viral video captured the intense scene, showing a group of men engaging in a physical altercation, exchanging blows in a chaotic free-for-all fight.

No arrests have been made yet but calm has been restored.

The situation was no different in the Lambussie Constituency of the Upper West Region, where military personnel had to intervene to prevent a bloody clash.

35-year-old foreign national arrested on suspicion of being a terrorist https://www.adomonline.com/35-year-old-foreign-national-arrested-on-suspicion-of-being-a-terrorist/ Fri, 12 Aug 2022 13:38:05 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2148956 A 35-year-old foreign national is in the grips of the Zabzugu police on suspicion of being a terrorist.

According to the youth in the town, they have seen some suspicious persons in the town lately.

They say these men, about six of them, pretend to be insane. According to them, they see these same people make calls.

This raised suspicion among the youth because of recent terrorist activities in the sub-region.

One of the suspects was arrested and is currently in custody pending investigations.

The assemblyman for the area, Iddi Yussif narrated the incident to Citi News.

“On Monday evening, the youth of Zabzugu were alarmed by the presence of some unknown persons in the town. They got hold of one of them–a man, who is said to be from Chad. According to residents, the man paraded himself as insane all this while.

“The youth were alarmed when they saw this same man with a phone. As soon as he realised he had been seen, he threw away the phone and run to an elderly person for protection. They claimed he speaks Hausa.”

A resident also spoke to Citi News about the incident.

“I was from the farm when I saw people gathered at a spot. We went closer and were told that the suspicious man had rushed to the elderly for protection. The youth said they saw him making a phone call, something they thought was suspicious.

“How can a mad man be making phones? You know this time the insecurity in the subregion is serious, and we have to be conscious.

“We have seen other strange people around lately. We have been on the lookout since then, only to see this happen. The National Security should be on high alert,” he narrated.

Meanwhile, police at Zabzugu have declined to speak to Citi News on the matter.

Election 2020: NDC boycotts collation process https://www.adomonline.com/election-2020-ndc-boycotts-collation-process/ Tue, 08 Dec 2020 17:28:17 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=1891223 Members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at Zabzugu in the Northern Region have boycotted the collation process.

This comes barely hours as the nation awaits the declaration of results in the just ended December 7 polls from the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC).

Joy News‘ Eric Sabit reports the supporters boycotted the process over claims that the District Chief Executive for the area was ‘controlling’ the EC officials.

He said the leader of the NDC’s coalition team since the eve of Monday, December 7, 2020, claimed there were issues of over-voting and importation of fake pink sheets.

Figures were said to be flying outside predicting the NDC’s victory though the EC officials had counted just about 43 ballots out of about 81 polling centres.

This situation caused confusion among disgruntled party supporters, resulting in a heavy security takeover in the area.
