It was supposed to be the happiest day of his life — but for Peter Alloh, a groom-to-be, it turned into an emotional rollercoaster, thanks to one man: his goldsmith.

Appearing on Nhyira FM’s Obra Show, Peter shared his heartbreak after his well-planned wedding fell apart at the last minute because the custom-made wedding rings were never delivered.

According to Peter, he struck a deal with a goldsmith who charged GH¢7,500 to produce the rings. He paid GH¢5,000 upfront, with the agreement to pay the rest upon delivery. But instead of the rings, Peter got a string of excuses.

“He kept saying ‘next week, next week’ — until there were no more weeks left,” Peter lamented. “All preparations were in place — the family had gathered, food was ready, and the bride was glowing with excitement. But the rings… the rings were nowhere to be found,” he said, sounding more heartbroken than a groom left at the altar.

The missing rings have since caused friction between both families. Some of the bride’s relatives suspect Peter of misusing the money for the ring, while others now wonder if he was ever serious about the wedding at all.

To make matters worse, rumours emerged that the goldsmith may have resold the rings—or perhaps never intended to make them in the first place.

“I don’t even want the rings again,” Peter snapped on air. “All I need now is my money!”

When finally tracked down, the goldsmith claimed he didn’t mean to ruin the wedding—he had simply run out of gold. Yes, gold! Apparently, the global gold crisis has hit our dear artisans too.

He apologized and pleaded that the matter be settled “between just the two of them.” But from Peter’s face, it’s clear this was no ordinary misunderstanding — this was heartbreak dipped in 24-carat disappointment.

The Obra Show panel, made up of life coach Big Mama, Lady Gold White, and Evangelist Degraft Addae, didn’t mince words. They urged Peter to seek legal redress and called on the goldsmith to make a public statement and refund the money. Big Mama put it bluntly: “If you can’t finish the gold, don’t start the glitter!”

Jeff Bezos raises standards; reportedly budgets $50,000 per guest for his lavish wedding

The upcoming Venetian wedding of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and former news anchor and licensed pilot Lauren Sanchez — which is expected to be a lavish, multimillion-dollar affair — may be one of the most anticipated and closely guarded events to be held in the floating city of love.

Spokespeople for the couple remain tight-lipped and one guest told CNN they signed an NDA, but a lid cannot be kept on widespread speculation about every detail of the event that is expected to take place this week.

At Harry’s Bar, a fabled institution that once counted Ernest Hemingway among its customers, the waiters are hoping some of the 200 guests — a mix of A-list celebrities, political dignitaries and powerful business executives — might stop in for one of their famous Bellini cocktails.

Whether or not Bezos will bring his yet-unnamed groomsmen there, as George Clooney did when he married Amal Alamuddin in 2014, is anyone’s guess. “We hope so,” one of the waiters told CNN. “We can’t divulge anyone who has made a reservation. We protect the privacy of all of our guests, not just the billionaires.”

From the date to the guest list, possible venues and the bridal gown and budget of $50,000 per guests, the rumor mill is spinning at a rapid pace.

Proceedings are being overseen by boutique event planners Lanza and Baucina, the Italian duo who transformed Venice’s Grand Canal into a red carpet for the Clooneys’ glitzy wedding.

Protesters believe there’s no space for a Bezos wedding in Venice, but the company has insisted that its plans are respectful of the city and the unique set of challenges it faces as one of the most overpopulated tourist sites in Europe.

“Rumors of ‘taking over’ the city are entirely false and diametrically opposed to our goals and to reality,” they said in a statement shared with CNN.

The night before, Luca Zaia, president of the surrounding Veneto region, announced that Bezos and Sanchez were donating €1 million ($1.16 million) to the Corila Consortium, an international scientific research group doing work on the Venice lagoon — a gesture of “love and responsibility” toward the city, he said.

Hollywood guests and local sweet treats

The couple is sourcing some 80% of wedding provisions from local vendors, including pastries from the Rosa Salva pastry shop, the oldest in Venice, whose owners told CNN they have been commissioned to create “about 200 goodie bags.”

Murano glassware designer Laguna B also confirmed to CNN that it is creating special party favors. The company declined to share any further details.

Zaia is not concerned about the city’s plans to manage the wedding, telling one local paper, “I repeat, this is a city that handles 150,000 people a day. George Clooney, François-Henri Pinault and Salma Hayek, Alexandre Arnault, Elton John and many others got married here.”

He also surmised that the President of the United States, who is in Europe this week for the NATO summit, could conceivably be on the guest list, telling Corriere della Sera, “Of course, Donald Trump could also come to this wedding.” One imagines that Trump’s priorities may have shifted considerably over the weekend.

While the guest list has not been made public, Sanchez’s very public bachelorette party in Paris last month may offer clues as to who will watch on as she and Bezos say “I do.”

Kim Kardashian, Kris Jenner, Katy Perry and Eva Longoria all took part in celebrations that included a boat trip along the Seine. Oprah Winfrey, Mick Jagger and Ivanka Trump have also been invited, according to the Associated Press, and Trump was photographed arriving in the city with her husband Jared Kushner, on Tuesday.

As is tradition, Sanchez will be keeping details of her wedding gown, and its designer, under wraps until the big day, but close followers of her fashion will know she is a regular wearer of Dolce & Gabbana.

Around 30 of the city’s elite water taxis, out of 280 total, are also thought to be reserved. One taxi driver told CNN he has been booked from June 25 through June 30 for “a big wedding,” but declined to say more on the subject. Gondolas have also been put on hold, with the city’s gondola association confirming they are ready for the event.

The city’s nine yacht ports have also been booked for the week leading up to the main event. Bezos’ $500 million Koru, which is always tailed by the smaller L’Abeona, are both in the Adriatic Sea already, according to the Marine Traffic website.

Venice’s airspace is closed to drones and non-authorized traffic, but one source told CNN that permission has been granted for private helicopters, particularly for anyone needing special security, such as heads of state.

The Marco Polo airport, no stranger to private jet traffic, already has a secluded area with direct access to private water taxis, making it easy for stars to slip into the city unseen.

The wedding date itself, by far the most protected detail, still remains unconfirmed and the couple seem hellbent on keeping everyone guessing up until the last minute. A person close to Venice City Hall told CNN that the wedding planners secured a variety of venues over a period of days and will decide what happens where and when based on the most uncontrollable factors — weather and protesters.

The wedding is expected to use a small handful of hotels in the city to accommodate guests or host events. One of the most talked-about possible venues is the Cini Foundation on the island of San Giorgio Maggiore, which has hosted everything from G7 events to private concerts.

The sculpted gardens and monastery, where monks still pray, sit across the lagoon from the famous Piazza San Marco and would provide an intimate setting ideal for a dinner. Building work being carried out in mid-June looked suspiciously like a set being built — perhaps for a wedding concert?

The Aman hotel on the Grand Canal, where the Clooneys chose to wed, has also been mentioned as a potential location. Another top contender is the Scuola Grande della Misericordia, a 16th-century armory that would be perfect for the ceremony itself — although it is more vulnerable to protesters, who have already threatened to block the canals if the wedding party tries to reach the venue.

Interestingly, a rather wedding-esque gazebo has been erected next to the Excelsior Hotel on the Venice Lido, a stone’s throw from where the Venice Film Festival is held each year. But, as with the rest of the venues, nothing is confirmed.

A bride has been left deeply heartbroken as her groom passes away in a tragic car accident, one day before their wedding.

On what was supposed to be her wedding day, August 25, Shauntea Weaver, 40, found herself in mourning instead.

Just days earlier, her fiancé Kirk Walker and his cousin Rob McLaurin were tragically killed by a wrong-way driver on the Henry Hudson Parkway in Harlem.

With a heavy heart, Shauntea said, ‘I should be wearing my wedding dress now, not grieving the loss of the love of my life.

“I feel like this is a TV show and I’m going to wake up any minute and go back to my real life,” she told The Post.

“Every hour since it happened, I’m having a different emotion take me over.”

The tragic car crash claimed the lives of Kirk Walker, a 38-year-old Manhattan father of three, and his cousin Rob McLaurin, 40, during Walker’s bachelor party.

At around 2:20 a.m., a pickup truck traveling in the wrong direction on the Henry Hudson Parkway collided head-on with their Dodge Challenger.

Both men tragically died in the accident, just days before Walker’s scheduled wedding.

A catering hall representative who confirmed the incident stated that the ceremony had been canceled due to “a fatal crash.”

“Our ceremony was supposed to be at 5:00 p.m. today — in a few hours,” Weaver said.

“He died 24 hours before our wedding. It’s devastating, and not just for me. He has three children who loved him immeasurably. They are heartbroken that their father’s been taken.”

He was such a generous, hard-working man,” she added. “He had a heart of gold and would do anything for anybody. Such a hard worker.”

A pastor’s son has been accused of selling his girlfriend’s car to fund his marriage to another woman.

Blessing Manyange allegedly sold Charity Madare’s Honda Fit, which she had lend him for errands, and used the proceeds to pay the bride price for his other girlfriend, Petronella.

Feeling betrayed, Charity confronted Blessing and demanded the return of everything she had given him during their relationship.

Blessing’s father, Fungayi Manyange, a priest at Bethsaida Apostolic Church, met with Charity to address the issue. He promised to repay her the equivalent value of the car in instalments.”

Blessing admitted to selling Charity’s vehicle, stating, “I sold Charity’s vehicle and used the money. She was disturbed when I separated from her and is now demanding every dollar she gave me, including that vehicle. She confronted my parents, and my father agreed to pay the amount equivalent to the value of the vehicle. She threatened to expose me in front of the congregation since my father is a church priest, and I decided to leave the congregation because of her threats. She once posted a message on social media, and I warned her that I would take legal action if she continued tarnishing my image.”

Blessing was accompanied by the woman he married with the proceeds from the car sale during his interview with local news platforms.

UK’s ‘most eligible bachelor’ ties knot – with a little help from Prince William

The Duke of Westminster – once dubbed “Britain’s most eligible bachelor” – has tied the knot.

Prince William acted as an usher during the ceremony at Chester Cathedral, which saw billionaire aristocrat Hugh Grosvenor, 33, and Olivia Henson, 31, exchange vows.

The Prince of Wales arrived at the cathedral at about 10.30am, leaving a Mercedes and entering through a side entrance unseen by many of the people in the crowds gathered on the street outside.

The wedding was attended by some 400 guests, and had been billed as one of the most prestigious social events of the year.

William’s brother the Duke of Sussex had not been expected to attend by mutual agreement, amid a long-running rift between the princes.

Other notable absences included the Princess of Wales, who has been out of the public eye as she undergoes treatment for cancer, and the King, the groom’s godfather, who had been at D-Day commemorations in France on Thursday.

The Duke of Westminster is godfather to William’s son, Prince George, and also, reportedly, to Harry’s son Prince Archie.

Ten-year-old George was not expected to attend due to it being a school day.

The duke topped the Sunday Times 40 Under 40 Rich List earlier this year, with an estimated fortune of £10.1bn.

He inherited his title and control of the historic Grosvenor Estate aged 25 following the death of his father from a heart attack in 2016 – and his bride now becomes a duchess.

The couple announced their engagement in April last year after being together for two years.

Ms Henson travelled to the cathedral with her father in a vintage Bentley, originally made for the car manufacturer’s founder in 1930.

She wore a dress and veil designed by Emma Victoria Payne.

It featured an embroidery design which incorporated floral motifs and edgings from Ms Henson’s great-great-grandmother’s veil from around 1880.

She also wore the Faberge Myrtle Leaf Tiara made for Grosvenor brides to wear on their wedding day, which has been in the family since 1906.

Her bouquet was made of flowers picked from the gardens of the duke’s family home, Eaton Hall.

The couple were said to have chosen the wedding venue for its beauty and because of the personal connection to the duke, whose family home Eaton Hall is nearby.

Seasonal flowers for the ceremony were sourced from local growers and will be made into bouquets after the wedding, to be delivered to local charities, churches and organisations.

Chester’s council had warned the city would be busier than usual on Friday due to the wedding, with a number of road closures in place, and urged people to “rethink journeys”.

They’ll be worrying about everyone getting on, trying to navigate any dramas on the day, and of course, anticipating any issues that might arise once alcohol gets involved.

For one happy couple, it appears as if a potential catastrophe might be avoided after the groom’s father asked for advice on whether he should bring his girlfriend to the wedding. While it might not sound like a big problem, the caveat is that his wife was also going to be at the nuptials and he was unsure of how to navigate the situation.

Writing into the New York Post’s agony aunt Dear Abby, the father wrote: “My son is getting married in Mexico in six months. I would like to take a special friend with me as my plus-one.”

The man explained that his wife, the groom’s mother has severe dementia and has been in a care facility for two years. He admitted that she doesn’t recognise anyone, including him.

He went on: “Would it be wrong to take my lady friend to Mexico? We haven’t been intimate yet, but romance at the beach in Mexico is very possible. What do I do?”

Thankfully, Abby told the dating dad that his son’s wedding was not the right time to introduce his new girlfriend to people. She suggested he speak to his son and his fiancée and base his decision on their response, rightfully reminding the man that a wedding is supposed to be about the bride and groom, with no other surprises.

Deciding who gets an invite to a wedding can be a logistical nightmare, as the happy couple try and make sure everyone is accounted for.

It can mean that some people get missed out, as one man discovered. After learning his best friend had recently got engaged, he was “over the moon for them”, and when he was asked to be best man, he was thrilled to oblige.

But when he found out that his girlfriend wasn’t invited to the ceremony, only receiving an “evening invitation”, he was left fuming and didn’t want to go without her.

Taking to Reddit to fume about the situation, he wrote: “I know this may make me the a**hole because I’m throwing away years of friendship for something that likely wasn’t a huge consideration for them, there just wasn’t enough space, but knowing how this had made me feel, I don’t think I’d be capable of giving a nice speech during the day.”

In an edit, he explained that he had thought further about the situation, he admitted that he may be “blowing things out of proportion” in hindsight, but “in the heat of the moment it felt like a personal slight” because he’s friends with the pair of them.

There’s nothing more devastating than losing a loved one, let alone losing a parent.

Whether you’re 60 or 16, having to say goodbye to a parent who has supported, loved and looked out for you can truly alter the course of your life.

You continue to remember them, but in life’s biggest milestones, it’s difficult to not miss their presence. For many, the only thing left is the memories lived together and the stories shared by friends and family — oftentimes scattered throughout gatherings and conversations in years passing.

For Freya, a 32-year-old from Buckinghamshire, memories and stories were not the only heartwarming piece of her dad she held onto.

In the weeks before his passing, Freya’s dad wrote letters for her.

When her dad Philip was given the news of his cancer, Freya was forced to face the reality of the situation. Unexpectedly, doctors told her and her family they’d only have six months left with their father.

Especially when dealing with sickness, accepting the fact that you have a set timeline before losing a loved one can be extremely overwhelming. Both for the sick and their family, the expectations and grief can be all-encompassing.

Like many children do when their parents are treated for a serious illness, Freya still holds those last weeks and months with her to remind her of her father’s strength. Ensuring no milestone was left unchecked, Freya’s dad used his last few weeks to write his young daughter letters to remind her of him.

As the head of the household and the loving father and husband he was, his legacy goes far beyond just the letters he wrote for his daughter.

However, when the memories are hard to recount or the smell of his cologne is hard to remember, his letters remain the foundation by which the family remembers his love.

Freya’s father passed from esophageal cancer when she was 11 years old.

After his passing, Freya held onto her father’s heartfelt letters as a reminder of his love and courageousness.

Bittersweet — that’s how Freya describes her big life milestones following her father’s death. Her 18th birthday, introducing her fiance to her mother, engagements — they all were painted with a smidge of sadness as Freya imagined her father’s missing presence.

“We got engaged in our fifth year [of dating],” Freya recounted to The Independent, “and we threw ourselves into wedding preparations — but, it was hard.”

Trying to imagine how she’d be able to honor her father’s legacy at her wedding, Freya and her soon-to-be husband planned to dedicate many aspects of their big day to him. With thousands of ways to remember a loved one at their wedding, the couple narrowed it down to a few. A diamond necklace from her father, steel pans down her aisle and a memory tree outside the venue were a few of the dedications made to her father’s memory and all the things he’d loved.

After the wedding, Freya’s mother read one last letter from her husband in lieu of the father-to-be’s speech.

As Freya’s mother stands next to her daughter at the wedding reception, she picks up the microphone to deliver a speech more emotional than many.

Pulling the letter out of her pocket, she tells the story of her late husband’s letters to their daughter before their passing — mentioning that this one, for her wedding day, was the last that he wrote.

“Today is your day, enjoy everything about it,” Freya’s dad says in the letter, “Laugh and cry. Be happy and confident.”

Stay together, grieve together, face everything in life together, her father suggests to his daughter and son-in-law.

“Don’t ever change. Love you forever, dad,” he wrote, signing off from almost a decade full of letters.

Grieving feels impossible but letters can help heal from loss.

While Freya was able to help grieve the loss of her dad through his words to her, oftentimes people suffering from loss don’t have letters like those to hold onto. Whether their family member passed suddenly or their relationship was less direct, reading letters from a loved one is not entirely feasible.

Regardless of the situation, everyone grieves in their own way. A Harvard Health study suggests letters as a way to combat that grief but in an unsuspecting way from the story above. Using a journal to help pour out feelings of grief or air out conversations you’d hoped to have with loved ones can help to improve mood, ease stress and aid with loss following the passing of a loved one.

So instead of reading them, you can write letters to loved ones who’ve passed. Or if that feels too difficult, you can write them to yourself — or to nobody. Just recounting and spilling out emotions can help to heal parts of you broken from loss.

So if you’re feeling desperate or heartbroken, and don’t have letters to connect you like Freya and her father’s, consider writing some of your own.

Wrestling legend Hulk Hogan traded his trademark tights for a tuxedo over the weekend, wedding girlfriend Sky Daily in Florida on Friday.

Pictures of the intimate ceremony show the 70-year-old in a traditional black tux, while Daily, 45, donned an elegant white wedding dress courtesy of Rue de Seine’s bridal gown collection with 18-karat white gold earrings encrusted with 4-karat diamonds with a matching bracelet and necklace.

The pair showed off wedding rings which a TMZ source said were valued at $500,000 in the spur-of-the-moment ceremony.

The nuptials mark the third wedding for Hogan, who’s real name is Terry Bollea.

He was previously married to Linda, whom he wed in 1983 and shares children Brooke and Nick with.

Hogan also married Jennifer McDaniel three years after divorcing Linda in 2007, though the couple called it quits in 2021.

Nick Hogan, 32, attended with partner Tana Lea, though Brooke, 35, was not able make it on short notice, per the Daily Mail.

Daily’s three children were there to see pastor Aaron Filippone officiating the wedding at Indian Rocks Baptist Church.

“It was a low-key wedding,” a source told the outlet. “Neither of them wanted over the top, just a small affair with their nearest and dearest to declare their deep love and commitment to each other.”

A businessman, Ssaalongo Nsikonenne Habib Ssezzigu, a resident of Bugereka village, in Uganda Mukono district over the weekend married seven wives in a historical ceremony he organised in his village.

Two of the seven wives wedded to Habib who is a traditional healer are biological sisters.

According to Capital FM Uganda, after the exchange of marital vows, Nsikonnene and his seven wives held a big procession led by cyclists, through the towns before arriving at their home.

The wedding ceremony kicked off with a concert as the couples moved in a convoy amidst of applause from people who had lined up on roadsides to witness the ceremony.

Some of people could not believe that this was real, some of them said that this was their first time to witness such historical event and do not think that in their lives they will again see another man like Habib doing the similar event.

The wives who made the historical event includes Mariam, Madinah, Aisha, Zainabu, Fatuma, Rashida and Musanyusa who is the Habib’s first wife. They were each given brand new cars as wedding presents by their husband.

Habib, in his speech at the reception, commended his wives for being loyal to him. He said he will be adding more wives in future.

29-year-old bride dies in tragic accident just two weeks after wedding

The untimely demise of Portia Owusuaa Asante, a young Ghanaian bride, has shocked and saddened many on social media.

Portia, who was only 29 years old, recently got married to her husband, Samuel Fokuo Akosah-Brempong, in a ceremony held at the Nkawkaw Central SDA Church on July 2, 2023.

Tragically, on July 18, 2023, while on her way back to her destination from Mampong, Portia was involved in a devastating accident on the Kumasi-Volta Region Road.

She was a passenger on a Zhong Tong Bus with registration number GW 5546-23 when the driver attempted to give way to an overtaking vehicle.

However, during the maneuver, the driver lost control of the bus, causing it to veer off the road and crash into the nearby bushes. Regrettably, Portia, along with two others, lost their lives on the spot, while several others suffered severe injuries.

Blogger Kobby Kyei reported the accident, praising the swift response of the Ghana Police and ambulance service in transporting the injured passengers to the hospital.

The incident has sparked concern among friends, family, and the public over the alarming frequency of road accidents involving young Ghanaians.

In the wake of this heartbreaking news, the family of the late Portia has scheduled her funeral for August 29, 2023.

Former Education Minister clarifies reports of marrying 9th wife

Reports of Professor Dominic Fobih marrying for the ninth time are bogus, the Former Minister of Education has said.

Media attention was on Professor Fobih after it emerged he tied the knot with his young lover over the weekend.

Social media was also inundated with rumors that his bride is a 27-year-old woman.

But, in an interview on Starr FM Tuesday morning, the 80-year-old clarified that his viral wedding is his first attempt in marriage.

He went on to say that persons commenting on the nine wives saga are clearly misled and ignorant.

“I don’t have nine wives, I have one wife, I just got married. I didn’t have a wife before so I’ve just got married. Who in Ghana has nine wives? If anybody is commenting on nine wives the person has been misled. Those who are commenting are commenting on what they’ve read and that is borne out of ignorance.”

On claims his bride is 27, Professor Fobih set the records straight that she is a 31-year-old medical officer.

He described himself as a strong-willed person who knows what is best for him.

“I’m a very strong willed person and I’m always convinced about what I decide to do and is best for me. I know why I’m doing this and so they can tell all sort of things. I didn’t marry for anybody, I married for myself,” Prof. Fobih added.
