Prof. Antwi-Danso in an interview with JoyNews opined that Miss Huang is not such an important Chinese personality to cause any strain in diplomatic relations between the two countries.

He contended that any Chinese personality who is important enough to trigger a diplomatic row, would not act in the manner Miss Huang does.

“I shudder to think a very important person in China would do that thing. No, she is not, she is not an important person [in China] and it will not bring any diplomatic row between us and China. Absolutely not! China needs us more than we do, people do not know this…China is too big to send such a stupid person as a spy,” he said on Top Story on Wednesday.

Prof. Antwi-Danso, however, believes that Miss Huang is being supported by some politicians, hence the difficulty to prosecute her.

“I strongly suspect that she has some big wigs either in politics or the governance system in Ghana and she is exploiting that to her advantage…making it difficult for those big wigs not to come to her aid and would use every means available to get her out,” he stated.

He urged the government not to relent to prosecute Miss Huang and “deal with her like they would do to any other criminal.”

The ‘galamsey’ kingpin was arrested in 2017 for engaging in illegal mining. The 47-year-old Chinese national was later deported in 2019 by the government, a move which triggered questions about Ghana’s commitment to eradicating the menace.

Religious institutions taking threat of terrorist attack seriously – Vladimir Antwi-Danso https://www.adomonline.com/religious-institutions-taking-threat-of-terrorist-attack-seriously-vladimir-antwi-danso/ Mon, 16 May 2022 08:57:07 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2114827 The Dean of the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC), Dr Vladimir Antwi-Danso says churches in the country are taking the threat of terrorist attack seriously.

According to him, religious institutions, including churches and mosques are not oblivious of the dangers associated with terrorism, thus, taking steps to safeguard their territories.

“The church is not relenting in efforts to make sure that terrorism is mainstreamed and that our members are able to understand what terrorism is and what the implications are. I have been invited to some churches and we have been trying to make them understand what terrorism is,” he stated.

His comment comes on the back of a caution issued by the National Security Ministry on the need for churches to be on the alert for terrorist attacks.

The caution followed increase in the activities of terrorist groups in neighbouring West African countries in spite of measures instituted to check the phenomenon.

In addition, the country’s National Security Ministry advised church leaders to install Closed Circuit Televisions (CCTVs) as well as engage the services of accredited private security agencies.

During an interaction with host Emefa Apau on JoyNews’ The Probe, on Sunday, Dr Antwi Danso said church leaders are already aware of the dangers associated with terrorism.

“We have instances where we have had this joint education between Muslim and Christian communities. We go from church to church to at least make them aware of the essence of peaceful coexistence and the need not to be part of any extremist organisation,” he said.

He mentioned that sensitisation for churches and mosques has been reinforced though he acknowledged that generally, sensitisation of the citizenry about terrorist attacks has been poor.

“Being aware of our security environment is 90% of the problem solved. Terrorism works best when people are unaware of their surroundings, that they are oblivious to the dangers of terrorism,” he advised.

Researcher and International Consultant, Dr Vladimir Antwi-Danso, has cautioned Europeans against imposing the rights of homosexuals on Ghanaians.

He cited an instance where he wanted to physically assault former Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN), Ban Ki-moon for advocating for the rights of homosexuals at a forum designed to address food insecurity in Africa.

He also observed that he was incensed over the decision of the American embassy to hoist the flag of homosexuals in the midst of a massive campaign in Ghana.

He also challenged Europeans to champion the rights of homosexuals in the Arabian countries if they believe in rights.

He made these remarks while speaking at an event to mark UN International Day of Democracy themed: The role of state actors and civil societies in consolidating democracy, human rights and peace.
