Both teams created several openings in an entertaining contest, but neither side could deliver the decisive touch as they shared the points.

The hosts came into the fixture on the back of a 2-1 defeat to Medeama SC in Tarkwa — their second loss of the season. With just five points from five matches (W1, D2, L2), Nations FC have endured one of their slowest starts since gaining promotion to the top flight in 2023.

They currently occupy the lower half of the table, having scored three goals and conceded four. Despite their inconsistent form, Nations FC have enjoyed a solid record against Kotoko, remaining unbeaten in their last three home meetings (W1, D2) and keeping three clean sheets in their last four league encounters with the Porcupine Warriors.

For Kotoko, the draw extends their unbeaten start to the campaign, keeping them among the four teams yet to lose this season as they continue to build momentum under their new project.

Nations FC will now turn their attention to their next assignment away to Dreams FC, while Kotoko travel to face Basake Holy Stars.

Elsewhere in Tema, Vision FC secured a commanding 3-0 victory over Bibiani Gold Stars at the Nii Adjei Kraku II Sports Complex to record back-to-back wins.

The visitors, reigning league champions, started brightly and nearly took the lead early on, forcing goalkeeper Kwame Aziz into a sharp save just eight minutes in. However, Vision FC took full control after the break.

Abdul Naseru Sumaila struck twice to put the hosts in charge, opening the scoring in the 55th minute before doubling his tally in the 84th. Substitute Sherif Mohammed Iddrisu sealed the result in stoppage time with a composed finish.

The win lifts Vision FC to fifth on the table with eight points from five matches, underlining their growing confidence under head coach Nana Agyemang.

Gold Stars, meanwhile, have now suffered consecutive defeats, dropping to 10th place with six points. They will aim to bounce back when they host Heart of Lions in their next outing, while Vision FC prepare for a tricky away test against Bechem United.

Medeama thrash Vision FC to extend perfect Premier League start https://www.adomonline.com/medeama-thrash-vision-fc-to-extend-perfect-premier-league-start/ Fri, 19 Sep 2025 20:19:31 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2580715 Medeama SC continued their flawless start to the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League with a commanding 4-0 victory over Vision FC at the TNA Park on Friday.

The Yellow and Mauve side struck early, with Kamaradini Mamudu opening the scoring in the 16th minute.

Medeama’s advantage was doubled before the break in fortuitous fashion, as Abdul Salam’s intended cross took a heavy deflection to deceive goalkeeper Aziz Kwame, sending Medeama into halftime with a 2-0 cushion.

Vision, still chasing their first win of the season, struggled throughout and offered little threat in attack, failing to register a single shot on target in the contest.

Medeama tightened their grip in the final stages. Emmanuel Owusu showed fine composure to add a third in the 80th minute, before substitute Nurudeen Abdulai broke the offside trap, rounded the goalkeeper, and slotted home just three minutes later to complete the rout.

With back-to-back victories, six goals scored, and two clean sheets, Ibrahim Tanko’s men remain top of the table after two matches.

Medeama will now turn their attention to their next fixture against Karela United, while Vision FC look to bounce back when they host league newcomers Hohoe United.

Vision FC’s Agyemang confident of top-four push in 2025/26 season https://www.adomonline.com/vision-fcs-agyemang-confident-of-top-four-push-in-2025-26-season/ Thu, 11 Sep 2025 07:02:32 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2577171 Vision FC head coach Nana Kweku Agyemang has set his sights on guiding the club into the top four of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season.

The club, which made its top-flight debut last season, finished 11th with 45 points. Agyemang, however, insists the team is ready to push further this year.

“We are looking to make a jump. It would be very good if we could finish within the first eight. That would be a huge step for us. Personally, as a coach, I always aim for the top four. It’s good for my CV, but it’s also important for the club to move from 11th to the top four,” he told 3Sports.

Acknowledging the challenges of building a competitive Premier League side, the young tactician believes Vision FC has the potential to secure a respectable position.

“Look, we have to be realistic. We are a young team competing for places. Top eight would be a big achievement for us. In the first and second seasons, it’s about maintaining our position and improving on last year. The top four is a bit ahead for now, but top eight is achievable, and we’ll do everything possible to get there,” he added.

Vision FC will kick off their campaign with a home clash against FC Samartex on Sunday at the Nii Adjei Kraku II Sports Complex.

We need to wake up – Kotoko coach Karim Zito after defeat to Vision FC https://www.adomonline.com/we-need-to-wake-up-kotoko-coach-karim-zito-after-defeat-to-vision-fc/ Mon, 09 Jun 2025 12:04:01 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2542830 Asante Kotoko head coach Abdul Karim Zito has urged caution within his squad following their 3-1 defeat to Vision FC in the final match of the 2024/25 season.

The Porcupine Warriors fell to the debutants at the Nii Adjei Okraku II Complex in Tema, but despite the setback, Kotoko secured a spot in the league’s top four with a total of 58 points.

Rather than dwelling on the loss, Zito emphasized the lessons to be learned as they prepare for the upcoming FA Cup final.

“The positive side of this game is that it serves as a wake-up call for the finals [FA Cup]. I saw this coming even before the Medeama game, so I am not overly worried. At the end of the day, winning this match would not give me the title but will place me in a better position,” he said.

“It is a wake-up call for the finals, and I’m glad to see it now because it will help me rearrange my boys well for the finals. Positively, it will help me. So I told them I’m going to use this game to prepare for the finals,” he added.

Asante Kotoko now shift their focus to the FA Cup final against Golden Kick FC, scheduled for this weekend at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.

We will not be relegated – Vision FC Coach https://www.adomonline.com/we-will-not-be-relegated-vision-fc-coach/ Mon, 28 Apr 2025 08:44:08 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2529363 Vision FC head coach Nana Kweku Agyemang is confident that his team will retain their Premier League status by the end of the season.

The debutant club strengthened their survival prospects with a solid 2-0 victory over league leaders Bibiani GoldStars in the Matchday 29 fixture at the Nii Adjei Kraku II Sports Complex on Sunday.

This vital win has pushed Vision FC further away from the relegation zone, raising hopes of preserving their top-flight status in their inaugural season.

“I’ve said it over and over again, we will not be relegated. The boys will rise to the occasion. We’ll stay in the league, and next season, you’ll see a better side,” Agyemang said after the game.

A late goal from Edmond Asante sealed the victory for Vision FC, who now climb to 14th in the standings, surpassing Accra Lions. Meanwhile, GoldStars’ lead at the top was reduced to just two points.

Vision FC, with 33 points, will now focus on their upcoming match against Medeama SC.

Ahead of the Ghana Premier League clash at the Nii Adjei Kraku Park, Walker confidently claimed his side would dominate the Phobians, but the match ended in a hard-fought 1-1 draw.

Speaking to Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show after the game, Walker explained his comments.

“Hearts is a big club, I have a lot of respect for them,” he said. “My pre-match comments were for promotional purposes, not meant to disrespect them,” he added.

Hearts of Oak took the lead just before halftime when Kelvin Osei Asibey capitalized on a defensive error to score. Vision FC, however, drew level in the second half when Adjetey Sowah curled home a brilliant strike after Raphael Amponsah’s poor clearance.

The result leaves Hearts of Oak in sixth place on 41 points, while Vision FC remains in 14th position with 29 points.

Vision FC will seek to return to winning ways when they face Berekum Chelsea in their next fixture.

Hearts of Oak Head Coach, Aboubakar Ouattara, Expresses Satisfaction With Draw Against Vision FC

Hearts of Oak head coach, Aboubakar Ouattara, has expressed his satisfaction with the outcome of their 1-1 draw against Vision FC in the Matchday 27 fixture of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League on Sunday.

The Phobians were hosted at the Nii Adjei Okraku II Sports Complex, where they took the lead through Kelvin Osei Asibey’s 40th-minute strike. However, a stunning goal from Adjetey Sowah equalized for Vision FC, ensuring the game ended in a draw.

“We played at this stadium, but it is not easy for us because of some things I don’t want to say, but I think the game is not bad. The two teams tried their best, and we got our points,” Ouattara said after the match.

He added, “We are impressed because every time I tell them we can score, we created some chances, but no problem because the opponent also did well in defense, and in midfield, everybody tried to win the match.”

The draw leaves Hearts of Oak in fifth place with 41 points, while Vision FC sits 14th with 29 points.

Looking ahead, Ouattara’s side will aim to return to winning ways when they travel to Aduana FC, while Vision FC will play away against Basake Hoy Stars.

I am worried, says Vision FC coach ahead of Hearts of Oak clash https://www.adomonline.com/i-am-worried-says-vision-fc-coach-ahead-of-hearts-of-oak-clash/ Sat, 12 Apr 2025 10:25:47 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2524587 Vision FC head coach Nana Agyemang says he is concerned over his team’s lack of cutting edge in front of goal as they prepare to face Hearts of Oak.

The two sides will meet in a Matchday 27 fixture at the Nii Adjei Kraku II Sports Complex as the 2024/25 season heats up.

Vision FC, making their debut in the top flight, are looking to bounce back after a narrow defeat in their first meeting with the Phobians at the Accra Sports Stadium.

In an interview with the club’s media team, Coach Agyemang admitted his frustration with his side’s failure to capitalize on the numerous chances they’ve created throughout the season.

“I don’t think there is any team here in Ghana that we have played and not created chances, but we are not taking our chances”, he said.

He added that improving composure and finishing will be key moving forward: “So what we are going to do going forward is to give them that confidence and teach them the technique and help them to be more composed in front of goal.”

Despite the previous loss to Hearts of Oak, Agyemang remains optimistic about his team’s chances in the return leg.

He’s confident Vision FC will once again carve out opportunities — this time, with hopes of a better end product.

“I know we are going to create chances against Hearts of Oak, it’s a must. Just like we did in the first game, we are going to do the same.

“The biggest bullet lies in the fact that we are not converting our chances. So hopefully we are able to convert, if we convert, I think we are going to take the three points,” he added.

Vision FC currently sit 14th on the league table with 28 points and are keen to climb out of the lower half as the season enters its final stretch.

Vision FC kicked off their top-flight journey with a hard-fought draw against former champions Berekum Chelsea.

Nana Kweku Agyemang’s team threatened early, creating a chance within the first 10 minutes, but Berekum Chelsea’s Zakaria was quick to clear the danger, ensuring the Bibires remained safe.

The game stayed evenly contested, with both sides struggling to break through sturdy defenses. A critical moment came around the 30-minute mark when Seidu made a brilliant interception to deny Issah Akuka a clear scoring opportunity.

The first half ended goalless, with standout performances from defenders Zakaria and Seidu.

In the second half, Kingsley Appiah missed a golden chance to put Vision FC ahead, sending his shot over the bar after a well-timed layoff from Ben Tsatsu.

Both teams made tactical substitutions to try to break the deadlock. Vision FC brought on Amadu for Addai, while Berekum Chelsea responded with a double change, introducing Adjei and Ansu in place of Awatsonya and Sarpong.

More changes followed, as Vision FC substituted Daniel Yemoh for captain Kyei Baffour, and Frank Duku replaced Ofori Offei. However, these shifts had little impact on the game’s tempo.

Berekum Chelsea made further substitutions, bringing on Awuah and Gyau for Ameyaw and Mwankurinah in a final push to secure a point as the match drew to a close.

In the end, neither team managed to find the net, and the match ended in a goalless draw, with both sides sharing the points.
