Former MP questions gov’t https://www.adomonline.com/airmed-flight-didnt-carry-any-patient-so-what-did-it-carry-former-mp-questions-govt/ Sat, 12 Apr 2025 13:45:03 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2524631 Former Minister for Tourism and Creative Arts and ex-MP for Sekondi, Andrew Egyapa Mercer, has demanded clarity from government over the controversial Airmed flight recently linked to suspicious activities.

Speaking on JoyNews’ Newsfile on Saturday, 12 April, Mr Mercer stated categorically that the flight did not transport any patient, raising concerns about what the aircraft was used for.

His comments come amid heightened public interest in the alleged ‘suspicious flights saga’ and the attempted arrest of Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, the Ranking Member of Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee, who raised red flags about the flight’s purpose.

Mr Mercer defended Fordjour and questioned the government’s silence on the matter.

“We know for a fact that the Airmed flight didn’t carry any patient. So what did it carry? The government should tell Ghanaians,” Mr Mercer insisted.

He expressed frustration at what he described as a deliberate lack of transparency and accountability on the part of state authorities.

According to Mr Mercer, the government has not yet addressed critical questions posed by concerned stakeholders, including Members of Parliament.

He called on the relevant agencies to come clean on the contents and purpose of the flight, stressing the importance of transparency in protecting public trust and national security.

Present Ntim Fordjour to NIB or… – Vanderpuye tells Afenyo-Markin https://www.adomonline.com/present-ntim-fordjour-to-nib-or-vanderpuye-tells-afenyo-markin/ Thu, 10 Apr 2025 10:53:15 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2523735

Former Member of Parliament for Odododiodo and National Coordinator for the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP), Edwin Nii Lantey Vanderpuye, has issued a stern order to Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin.

He has demanded that Afenyo-Markin ensures that Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, the Ranking Member on the Defence and Interior Committee, is presented to the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) by 10:00 a.m. today, April 10.

Vanderpuye’s warning comes after a dramatic attempt by NIB operatives to arrest Rev. Fordjour over serious allegations regarding two suspicious aircraft that landed at Kotoka International Airport, possibly linked to drug trafficking and money laundering.

The operation was unexpectedly called off, leading to speculation about the reasons behind the decision.

Vanderpuye confirmed that the operation was halted after Afenyo-Markin promised government officials he would personally ensure Fordjour’s appearance at the NIB for questioning.

In an appearance on Channel One TV, Vanderpuye stressed, “Somebody must advise Ntim Fordjour, and I will let Afenyo-Markin exercise that opportunity given him today. By 10:00, he must present Ntim Fordjour for the questioning that he is supposed to face so that we can all have our peace.”

He condemned the actions of Minority MPs who gathered at Fordjour’s residence in protest, calling their behavior disrespectful. “What they did yesterday was unruly and uncalled for, and a total disrespect for the security services,” he remarked, adding that police officers are authorized to make arrests without a warrant.

“If the Minority Leader does not present him today, we shall plug him from his house,” Vanderpuye warned.

The situation has added to the ongoing political tension, with both sides awaiting further developments.

Ntim Fordjour is not a loner; he’ll never walk alone – Afenyo-Markin https://www.adomonline.com/ntim-fordjour-is-not-a-loner-hell-never-walk-alone-afenyo-markin/ Wed, 09 Apr 2025 15:51:23 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2523480

Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has stated that the Minority caucus is solidly behind Assin South MP, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, amid the ongoing controversy surrounding the suspicious flights saga.

In a press conference on Wednesday, Afenyo-Markin drew inspiration from Liverpool Football Club’s famous slogan and declared that Rev. Fordjour is not a loner and will never walk alone.

This statement follows an incident in which officials of the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) reportedly besieged Rev. Fordjour’s residence at Spintex with the intention of arresting him.

Afenyo-Markin emphasized that the Minority and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) would strongly resist any attempts at intimidation by the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).

He stressed that Rev. Fordjour, who serves as the Ranking Member of the Defence and Interior Committee, speaks for the entire Minority caucus and represents its views.

“He is not a loner, he has not walked alone, and he will never walk alone. As a caucus, we have our various committee heads, and he is the leader of the Defence and Interior Committee of our caucus. He speaks for the caucus, and he expresses the views of the caucus,” Afenyo-Markin stated.

He continued, “So, nobody should make any attempt to single him out and try to intimidate him. He walks through this unfortunate valley of the shadow of death, but he will fear no evil. Because he walks with his God and the strength of the mighty 88 behind him.”

Afenyo-Markin’s comments come in the wake of the ongoing investigation into the allegations concerning suspicious flights linked to drug trafficking and money laundering, with Rev. Fordjour himself alleging that these flights may have been transporting illicit substances, including cocaine and large sums of U.S. dollars.
