Information gathered by Adom News indicates that, the deceased picked an okada rider from Agona Swedru town to Agona Asafo to meet someone.

Upon reaching a very quiet place at Agona Asafo, the suspect attacked the okada rider with a knife, put pepper in the rider’s eyes, and bolted with the motorbike.

Sources said the okada rider managed to rush to Asafo town and reported the case to his fellow okada riders, who then chase him.

Fortunately, they caught the suspect, beat him to pulp and set him ablaze.

The suspect is said to have died on the spot.

Assemblyman for Agona Asafo, Ishmael Odoom cautioned those involved in robbery in Agona Asafo to desist from such activities to avoid similar occurrences.

Meanwhile, the body of the deceased has been deposited at Agona Swedru Hospital morgue for preservation while Police continue their investigations.

The Western Regional Finance Committee Chairman of the Ghana Online Drivers Association, Edmund Kweku Appiah, confirmed to Citi News.

According to him, the victim, who was at the Effa Nkwanta Hospital, died after being transferred to the 37 Military Hospital in Accra.

Mr Appiah explained the news has brought sadness and fear among bolt drivers who were very enthusiastic about driving revellers to their respective destinations during the yuletide.

He said many of the online drivers are scared for their lives since unlike the deceased they have no military training.

“Friday, our brother who is a navy officer died and I was shocked the whole day. Everybody is left in shock and we are praying that God should protect us.

“We are in the Christmas holidays and we are not sure bolt drivers can drive people home. It is so painful. From the intel that we have, two guys have been arrested. We pray that it is true,” he said.

According to the victim, the suspect threatened to kill him to teach his (victim) mother a lesson for exposing him (suspect) as a wee (marijuana) addict.

Meanwhile, the Member of Parliament for Ngleshie Amanfrom Constituency, Sylvester Tetteh, who was touched by the boy’s predicament, has paid his hospital bills following which he has been discharged.

Background

A 10-year-old boy (name withheld) was set ablaze at Ngleshie Amanfrom near Kasoa in the Ga-South Municipality of the Greater Accra Region by a 14-year-old suspected wee smoker.

Information gathered indicated that the suspect bought petrol and decided to set a popular Mallam (Spiritualist) in the area and his family ablaze because he (Mallam) had exposed him to his parents that he’s addicted to wee smoking.

In an interview with Kasapa News’ Yaw Boagyan, Kojo Samuel, the victim’s father revealed that when the attacker stormed the Mallam’s House to burn it, his wife quickly informed the Mallam and his family to run for their life.
