The tragic fall reportedly took place near the picturesque Neuschwanstein Castle, as the Czech athlete was trying to capture the perfect Instagram snap on August 15.

Natalie’s pal told German media she had been standing very close to the edge of the mountain when she slipped while setting up the shot in front of the castle.

The friend, who wished to remain anonymous, said: “She fell from a height of about 262 feet (80 metres).

“We will never find out whether she slipped or whether a piece of the rock edge broke off.”

Natalie was a well-known sports star in her home country and had recently started training junior athletes herself.

Her club, Sokol Pribram Sports Gymnastics, expressed their condolences in a statement.

It read: “With deep sorrow, we announce that our wonderful friend, gymnast, representative, and coach, Natalie Stichova, has left us forever due to a tragic accident.

“She lost her fight for life on August 21 at 5.30am.

“Natalie spread smiles throughout her short life, and that is how we will remember her forever.

“We extend our heartfelt condolences to her family and close friends, sending them strength and support.

“To honour Natalie’s memory, you are welcome to light a candle at our gymnasium.”

Natalie’s grieving mother added: “There is no one who didn’t love her. Our Natalie was the sweetest person.”

The news triggered an avalanche of heartfelt messages from online users.

One person wrote on Facebook: “Sincere condolences to everyone who loved her, fate is not fair. She had a whole life ahead of her. This is so sad.”

Another commented: “Condolences to the family and all close friends. It’s a tragedy, it really affected me and my daughter. I wish the family much strength, it’s an irreplaceable loss.”

A third added: “I’m so sorry for your loss. Natalie, rest in peace.”

The two women, aged 21 and 22, were visiting Neuschwanstein Castle in Schwangau, Germany, last June when they were attacked.

Her latest Instagram post on July 9 showed Miss Cheung sitting with a boogie board near beach waters. The caption read: “Better Days are coming. They are called: Saturday and Sunday.”

At the age of 32, Miss Cheung was best known for her scenic Instagram posts about travelling, exploring, hiking and daring landscapes. Reportedly, she visited Hong Kong with friends and travelled to the waterfall at Tsing Dai stream before she lost her footing and fell into the deep water below.

Friends called emergency services and first responders arrived at the scene where they took Miss Cheung to the Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital in Chai Wan, Hong Kong. She was declared dead upon arrival.

She had over 6,000 followers at the time of her passing. She previously listed hiking, kayaking, exploring, outdoor activities and photography as her main passions. At the time of her passing, she had 97 posts on her Instagram page, many of them tagged in Hong Kong.

On her latest Instagram post, many fans of Miss Cheung’s content began commenting with heartfelt condolence messages. At the time of the article, over 700 users commented “rest in peace” on Miss Cheung’s recent post.

One user commented:

“I thought better days are coming with Saturday and Sunday? I will miss your chat every day. I love you always. Rest in peace my pretty Sofia.”

Another user commented:

“Though we met once, I will miss you, RIP. Sophi.”

A third user commented:

“Deepest condolences to your family and loved ones, RIP.”

At the time of the article, neither Miss Cheung’s family nor friends had come forward in regards to her passing. Many have offered condolences to Miss Cheung’s family and friends.

Gender Minister, Otiko Afisa Djaba has laughed off social media criticism after she was captured taking selfies at the 72nd UN General Assembly while the President was delivering his address.

Madam Otiko said it was a proud moment for her to witness the President speak at the UN for which reason she wanted to “capture the moment.”

In a light-hearted moment, the Minister blushingly told Joy News’ Gifty Andoh Appiah, “people saw me and they talked about it…I wanted to tell the world our president was making a fantastic speech.”
