Mr. Asamoah’s threat follows alleged defamatory comments made against him by a morning show host of the radio station.

The host, Samuel Acheampong, allegedly claimed that Mr. Asamoah received financial support and resources from the incumbent New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament, Andy Appiah Kubi, to fund his campaign.

However, Mr. Asamoah, in an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, refuted the claim, stating that all attempts to demand an apology and retraction have proven futile.

“If he thought it was a news item, they should have reached out to me. I even called into the show, but my call was hung up while I was expressing my grievances,” he said.

With the radio station within walking distance of his house, he decided to go there and engage management, but he was denied entry, leading to an altercation.

He accused the owner of Salt FM, Ohene Kwame Frimpong, who is contesting the parliamentary race as an independent candidate, of fueling attacks on him and using the platform to tarnish his image.

He asserted that the allegation has negatively impacted his reputation, hence his demand for an apology and retraction.

Mr Asamoah indicated that he has already engaged his legal team to decide on the next line of action.
“The allegations are untrue and certainly there will be a lawsuit in terms of defamation,” he stated.

NDC PC storms radio station over alleged defamatory remarks https://www.adomonline.com/ndc-pc-storms-radio-station-over-alleged-defamatory-remarks/ Fri, 08 Nov 2024 08:38:10 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2469881 Chaos broke out at a local radio station in Asante Akyem Agogo, Salt FM, on Thursday after National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate (PC), Kofi Asamoah, stormed the premises.

Mr. Asamoah, who is the Asante Akim North PC, was at the station to demand a retraction and apology over an alleged defamatory statement.

The host of the morning show, Anopa Busuo, Samuel Acheampong, alleged that Mr. Asamoah had received financial support and resources from the incumbent New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament to fund his campaign.

The comments sparked concern among NDC supporters, who informed the PC.

After he was unsuccessful in addressing the issue during a call-in segment, Mr. Asamoah stormed the station in the company of some NDC supporters.

An attempt to deny him access into the studio resulted in a fierce confrontation, although no injuries were recorded.

A video shared on X by Accra-based Citi FM captured the moment of the altercation.

The station management has since filed an official complaint with the police.

However, the NDC PC has dismissed allegations that he went to the station with thugs or weapons and has threatened to pursue legal action against Salt FM.

He also accused the station’s owner, who is an independent parliamentary candidate in the constituency, of using the platform to tarnish his image.

NCA, security officers shut down Salt FM https://www.adomonline.com/security-officers-allegedly-shut-down-salt-fm/ Tue, 06 Feb 2024 22:14:51 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2352498 The National Communications Authority (NCA) accompanied by security officers has shut down Agogo-based Salt 95.9 FM in the Ashanti region.

The radio station was shut down for non-renewal of authorisation.

Graphic Online reports that security officers on Tuesday stormed the station and disconnected their equipment.

The owner of the station, Ohene Kwame Frimpong is said to have planned a health walk in Agogo last Sunday, February 4, 2024.

But that health walk was also stopped by the security agencies at the 11th hour, citing the Public Order Act, with the explanation that he had not notified the police about the gathering and the walk through the streets.

The closure of the radio station has added to speculative discussions in Agogo.

On Tuesday afternoon, many people in Agogo gathered at the frontage of the radio station to inquire about what was happening.

Some youth wearing red arm bands danced to brass band music at the frontage of the radio station.
