They say the area has become a hub for armed robbers, making it dangerous for people to walk around at night.

Patience Mensah, a resident and trader, says the absence of streetlights has forced market women to close early to avoid attacks.

“When it’s 6pm, you can’t walk around,” she said.

She expressed concern about the lack of security in the area, leaving residents vulnerable to attacks.

The streetlights have not functioned for months.

Public relations officer for KMA, Henrietta Afia Konadu, admitted the area is dark and risky for most people but says measures are in place to curb the situation.

“We do cabling but armed robbers are disturbing us by stealing the cables, so authorities are rethinking how to fix that problem,” she said.

She advised the public not to use that stretch at night but use the principal street to avoid any attacks.
