The protesters who have massed up at the 37 Roundabout amidst roadblocks have created vehicular traffic.

For reasons not immediately clear, some of the protesters climbed billboards to remove parties’ flags which had been erected ahead of the 2024 election and set them ablaze.

The protest aims to raise awareness and express displeasure with illegal mining activities.

The three-day event was scheduled to take place at the Revolution Square, opposite the Jubilee House.

However, the police secured an injunction, citing concerns about possible public disorder due to the chosen venue.

Despite this, a meeting between the police and Democracy Hub on Friday to propose alternation routes ended inconclusively.

The march seeks to mount pressure on government to put in place measures to deal decisively with the galamsey crisis.

The demonstration which has kicked off at the Liberation Road Roundabout defies concerns raised by the Police on public safety, order and health among others.

Despite a cautionary message from the police, Fix Ghana Movement convener, Oliver Barker Vormawor has blocked the 37 Burma Camp road with a van.
