Education Ministry sets record straight on teachers’ posting https://www.adomonline.com/the-education-ministry-following-the-unemployed-teachers-picketing-on-its-premises-on-monday-has-set-the-records-straight-on-the-posting-processes/ Wed, 27 Nov 2019 17:06:48 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=1726238 The Education Ministry has set the records straight on why some teachers who have completed various Colleges of Education have still not received their postings.

The Education Ministry’s Public Relations Officer, Ekow Vincent Assifuah has explained that the said teachers could not be posted because they fall outside the Ministry’s budget that was approved for the 2018 fiscal year.

“This postings are mainly for the 2018 teacher trainees who have successfully passed their licensure exams; have been licensed and have completed their national service,” he explained.

He explained that should any of the trainees fall within the category, and as a result didn’t receive their postings, they may lodge a formal complaint with their respective Regional Directorates.

“We need their [teachers] services because we have quite a number of spaces to fill and as at now, almost 16,000 teacher trainees have been posted so they should keep calm,” he urged.

He added that all issues and irregularities with the postings will be addressed in due time.

Scores of trained teachers who have not been posted after graduating from various Colleges of Education on Monday were at the Ministry of Education to demand answers to why they haven’t been posted.

The teachers say they completed their national service in 2017 and have also been duly licensed since 2018 and are therefore calling on the government through the Ghana Education Service to engage them.

Printing of National Service postings begins Wednesday https://www.adomonline.com/printing-national-service-postings-begins-wednesday-2/ Mon, 10 Jul 2017 08:22:03 +0000 http://35.232.176.128/ghana-news/?p=281021 Beginning from Wednesday, prospective National Service personnel will be able to access their postings and print them to begin the next phase of this year’s national service.
At a press conference in Accra last Friday, the Executive Director of the National Service Scheme (NSS), Mr Ussif Mustapha said the first batch of 91, 871 prospective national service personnel had been posted to user agencies across the country for the 2017/18 service year.
Out of the total number, 76,908, representing 84 per cent, were posted to the public sector while 14,963, representing 16.30 per cent, were also posted to private sector agencies.
The Greater Accra Region topped the table of recipients with 29,647 service personnel, while the Ashanti Region followed with 17,020 personnel.
The Upper East and Upper West regions received the lowest number of postings with 2,107 and 1,657 personnel respectively.
Mr Mustapha said 2,160 of the number of prospective National Service personnel had also been deployed across the 216 metropolitan, municipal and district assemblies (MMDAs) in the country to support the government’s planting for food and jobs agriculture policy.
Exceptions
The Executive Director of the scheme said the list of the first batch of the postings excluded Ghanaians studying in foreign universities and nursing trainees.
“The Ghanaians who are studying in foreign universities have a different calendar, but we have received their details and will soon post them he said.
Due diligence
The executive director urged the public, especially the prospective service personnel, to take note of the laid down registration procedures to make the process less cumbersome.
“I want the public to be aware that registration for national service will begin at all regional centres across the country from Monday, July 17 and end on Thursday, August 17.
“This period has been provided to give service personnel sufficient time to go through the registration processes before they formally begin their national service on Friday, September 1, 2017,” he said.
Mr Mustapha stated that as a measure to guard against impersonation, service personnel would be required to present their school identity card and any other form of valid national identification card before they would be accepted at any point of registration.
“Note that National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) cards will not be accepted for registration,” he stressed.
Caution
Mr Mustapha cautioned the public and the prospective NSS personnel to be wary of people who would come to them to try to change their postings.
“The management of the scheme took into consideration a lot of factors before the final deployment was done. So, we believe that as much as possible, service persons have been deployed to user agencies in accordance with national priorities,” he said.
The executive director urged MMDAs, as well as regional and district directors, to assist the service persons posted to them to settle down and render services in the interest of national development.

Audio: NDC dares NPP to publish names of just 5,000 nurses posted so far https://www.adomonline.com/audio-ndc-dares-npp-publish-names-just-5000-nurses-posted-far/ Tue, 25 Apr 2017 14:49:23 +0000 http://ghana-news.adomonline.com/new/?p=92331 Former deputy Minister for Employment  Baba Jamal has dared the New Patriotic party (NPP) to publicly publish the names and place of postings of the 11,000 nurses who were said to have been given clearance by the Ministry of Health, disclosed earlier by the Vice President, Dr Mahamadu Bawumia.

The Coalition of Unemployed Bonded Diploma Nurses on Monday stormed the Ministry of Health to demand clearance for employment.

According to members of the coalition, they are yet to be posted two years after the completion of their programme.

The Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia had revealed that about 11,000 nurses had been given clearance for employment.

But the nurses are skeptical about the Vice President’s remark.

Speaking to Citi News some of them stressed that, “our concern is we need our clearance. No clearance, No going home. They claimed that they have posted 11,000 nurses; we want to see the clearance of the 11,000 they were referring to because we are the very people who are supposed to be given the clearance but we are in the house. And we are bonded with government so there is no way we could go and work anywhere…”

But Spokesperson for the Health Ministry, Robert Cudjoe, is urging the aggrieved nurses to remain calm since letters are being issued to the nurses.

He stressed that the sector has so many categories hence the reason for the setback in their posting process.

“We are still issuing letter to all of them. We have various institutions and the postings are ongoing, the nursing sector has many categories and so they should give us some time.

“We met the minister some time ago and they were given two weeks but we are not happy they don’t have jobs. The government is aware and putting things in place…” he said to on Adom FM’s Morning Show “Dwaso Nsem” Tuesday.

But according to Baba Jamal, the NPP are telling lies in the face of Ghanaians adding that 11,000 nurses have not been posted anywhere hence he gives government up to Friday to prove their point.

The former Member of Parliament for Akwatia noted that, there exist records and therefore if such moves have been made, he dares the ruling NPP to publish by record the nurses who have already been posted and commenced work.

“I would urge them to come out and publish just 5000 of the nurses they have given clearance and posted. It’s far from the truth, it is a complete lie and so I am daring them” he stressed.
