According to her, she was married at 19 through an arrangement made by her parents.

The actress’s revelation was shared via a verified X account named Igbo History and Fact.

“Marriage found me at just 19. It wasn’t my choice; my parents arranged it. At first, I was scared. I didn’t know how to love a man I didn’t choose.”

Ozokwo explained that with time, love grew between them, and they spent 23 years together as husband and wife.

She revealed that her husband was ill for 15 years before he passed away in 2000.

She said they had three children together and that she later adopted five more, though one of the adopted children died. She added that she now has seven children.

“But as time passed, love grew. We spent 23 years together. He was sick for 15 of those years, and in 2000, he passed away.

“We had three beautiful children, and I adopted five more. One of them died, so I now have seven,” she said.

The actress said she never remarried after losing her husband, choosing instead to focus on raising her children.

Reflecting on marriage today, Ozokwo said people now spend too much time trying to fix themselves, yet many marriages still fail.

She noted that in her time, marriages arranged by parents were treated with commitment and endurance.

She added that she raised her children with strong values, encouraging respect and responsibility, which she believes helped her build a stable home despite challenges.

“I have told my children never to think of divorce. I raised my daughters to be respectful and my sons to be responsible. That is how I built a strong home through hardship, love, respect, and sacrifice,” she concluded.

A photo from one of her old movies, taken during her prime acting years, resurfaced online and has been humorously edited by users to depict her as everything from a slay queen to a pope. The meme has been widely shared, sparking laughter across platforms.

While some fans expressed concern that the edits might be disrespectful, Mama G appears unbothered. Instead, she says she is thrilled that her past work continues to entertain people today.

Taking to social media, the legendary actress wrote:

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) presented the award in a ceremony on Saturday, which also celebrated Yoruba actors Adebayo Salami and Jide Kosoko for their legendary roles in the industry.

Sharing her excitement on Instagram, Ozokwor expressed gratitude, saying, “Today was like a movie. Honorary Doctorate Degree. Thank you, UNILAG. Thank you.”

Patience Ozokwor, a trailblazer in Nollywood, began her career as a radio announcer before rising to fame in the 1999 film Authority.

With over 100 movies to her credit, her standout performances include classics like Ukwa (2001), Blood Sister (2003), and Billionaires Club (2003).

Taking to Instagram, the actress, who reminded that there is beauty in old age, stated she will not comply with the status quo of hiding one’s greying self.

This follows some comments that she is aging quickly following a recent photo she posted on Instagram.

The 63-year-old remarked that unlike the people who do all manner of stuff to cover up aging, she will wear hers like a crown.

“I own my age and experiences with my full chest and count it an enormous blessing. Make me smile. Aging is not unattractive or undesirable,” she hit back at her trolls.

She added that she is not afraid of looking or being old as has been blessed with fully.

“When did old age stop being a blessing?” she quizzed as she affirmed her position of caring less about the invalidated public opinions.

“Respect the elderly.”

The actress, who has been heartbroken by the news of her demise, shared a video online as she weeps over the sad news.

She recounted how the late Oniga was a great friend and colleague to her, and apologised for not calling the actress while she was ill.

She said no one told her Miss Oniga was ill, and that she feels sad she wasn’t there to tell her friend ”sorry.”

Sharing a photo of both of them together, the seasoned script interpreter prayed for her son as she tagged him as her very own special son.

Ozokwor’s daughter clocked a year older on December 17, 2019.

Her post read in part: “Happy birthday to my baby girl. My beautiful daughter Chioma. Ada na eri ukwu anu, Nneude Nwa Okwor, Nnenna Ya, Wendisco, my personal antenna, chief strategist and closest friend ❤.”

She said there were so many reasons to be grateful to God for her daughter’s life.

She recalled how her daughter almost died at 10 but God showed up.

Ozokwor prayed for God to keep blessing her daughter and to lead her in the right path.
