Speaking during the June Holy Ghost Service themed “Destined for Greatness (Part 2)” at Redemption City in the early hours of Saturday, June 7, Adeboye, affectionately called Daddy GO, emphasized the critical need for spiritual direction and staying where God has placed you.

He raised concern over the growing trend among young Christians who frequently switch churches, always showing up as newcomers.

Recalling his own early Christian walk, he said, “There were three major ministries that were making waves, and they were very good. There were different temptations to go from one to another.”

Despite these temptations, Adeboye said God gave him a clear and sobering instruction, “God spoke to me, in a very specific manner, ‘Son, I brought you here. This is where you will stay. The day you leave this denomination, your firstborn will d+e.’”

At the time, RCCG was relatively unknown, operating out of a small building in Ebute-Metta, Lagos.

He shared how, even as a university lecturer, God told him to submit to a spiritual leader with no formal education, “I was a lecturer in the university. My father in the Lord didn’t go to secondary school, not even primary. But God said this is where you will stay.”

Pastor Adeboye urged believers, especially the youth, to prayerfully discover where God wants them to be, and stay there.
“Discover where God wants you to stay, and stay there,” he advised.

He also clarified that his statement was not a claim that RCCG is superior, “I am not saying we are better than any other denomination,” he concluded.

Anointing should not stop you from being romantic – Adeboye tells couples https://www.adomonline.com/anointing-should-not-stop-you-from-being-romantic-adeboye-tells-couples/ Sat, 21 Sep 2024 22:54:48 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2452075 General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye has stressed the importance of maintaining romance in marriage, even amid spiritual obligations.

In a message on his Facebook page, Adeboye revealed that he and his wife, Foluke, still use affectionate pet names when they are alone, highlighting that “anointing does not reduce romance.”

Through this heartfelt advice, Adeboye urged married couples to prioritize intimacy and romance to keep their marriages vibrant and joyful.

He explained that some pastors avoid romantic activities, believing it distracts from their spiritual focus.

Adeboye emphasised that being anointed should not negate the need for romance, drawing an example from the Bible.

He wrote, “The fact that you are a Christian does not in any way take romance out of your marriage. Marriage is the only institution where romance and intimacy are allowed between a man and a woman.

“Some pastors hardly go on dates with their spouses because they consider such a romantic activity as a distraction from their focus on spiritual matters. Some of them don’t even play with their spouses anymore. Beloved, the anointing does not reduce the need for romance in marriage.

“Isaac was an anointed man of God and a successful businessman, yet in Genesis 26:8, the Bible says he was being romantic with his wife.

“And it came to pass, when he had been there a long time, that Abimelech king of the Philistines looked out at a window, and saw, and, behold, Isaac was sporting with Rebekah his wife. Don’t become too rigid in your marriage; don’t have more fun elsewhere without your spouse.

Make the times that you and your spouse spend together so much fun that you are always looking forward to seeing each other again. If you are married, remember how you used to talk for long hours with your spouse before you got married and had children; revive that relationship again.

Your spouse is still the same fellow you were very fond of, and the things you loved in him or her are still there. Don’t let all the cares of this life distract you from the gems in your spouse.

Adeboye suggested simple acts like writing notes, using pet names, and surprising each other to keep the romance alive.

“Once in a while, compose a poem for your spouse and read it to him or her in a romantic setting. Spice things up with pleasant surprises every now and then. Write a note and put it in his or her bag so that when they get to the office and open their bag, they will see the note and smile. Have a pet name that you call each other behind closed doors.

“Up until today, there is a pet name my wife calls me when we are alone. I equally have a pet name that I call her, and every time I call her by that name, she cannot but smile at me lovingly. When we are alone, we are lovers, not Daddy G.O and Mummy G.O. Your marriage can be like heaven on earth if you and your spouse are deliberate about remaining the lovebirds that you were when you first got married.

“Don’t let the romance die.” he added.

Why Christians don’t need guns – Pastor Adeboye explains https://www.adomonline.com/why-christians-dont-need-guns-pastor-adeboye-explains/ Sun, 03 Jul 2022 16:37:08 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2133660 The General Overseer of Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor E.A Adeboye, has said Christians don’t need guns for self-defence.

On Sunday, Adeboye clarified an earlier sermon, where he was quoted to have asked Christians to buy guns for their self protection especially the churches during service.

According to him, Samson was victorious in biblical times with jaw bones and not an AK-47.

The respected cleric made this disclosure at Mount Carmel while delivering his message ‘Meant for the top’, in the church’s monthly thanksgiving service.

Recall that a Catholic church was attacked in Ondo State during Sunday service leaving scores killed and many others injured.

According to Adeboye, no one can be killed until the stipulated time, stressing that no one should stay away from church because of fear of being attacked.

Adeboye said, “I never asked Christians to buy guns, Christians don’t need guns. Samson did not fight with an AK-47. Don’t go and buy guns.”

While emphasising that they required permission to buy guns, he noted that they don’t require permission to get the jawbone of a cow.

There is a current embargo placed on gun licence and registration by the police authorities.

“You don’t need permission to buy the jaws bones of a cow,” the cleric added.

God does not make mistakes – Pastor Adeboye tells ‘transgenders’ https://www.adomonline.com/god-does-not-make-mistakes-pastor-adeboye-tells-transgenders/ Sun, 12 Sep 2021 12:01:18 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2014036 The General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian church of God, Pastor E.A Adeboye, has reacted to the growing number of ‘transgenders’ in the world.

The clergyman, in a post shared on his Facebook page, stated that God is not the author of confusion and that in the time of creation, God created humans in female and male gender yet some people have decided to change their gender as if God did not know what he was doing. He stated that God doesn’t make mistakes.

He wrote:

“Our God is the God of distinction; He is not an author of confusion. A man chooses to be confused when he does not want to do the right thing as ordered by God and so pretends that he does not know what God wants from him. When God creates, He does so with precision and purpose. He created lights for a purpose and darkness for another. God commanded:

“And let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years.

“Genesis 1:14.

“The God of order is that God of distinction. When He wanted to create man, for example, the Bible says:

‘So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

‘Genesis 1:27.’

“God, in His infinite wisdom, created mankind as male and female, yet some people feel the need to change their gender as though He did not know what He was doing when He created them! God does not make mistakes.

“Our God is the perfect God of distinction. He created the day for work and the night to rest. If for any reason we do not rest in one night, the following day should compensate for the loss of rest. Failure to observe rest produces stress, sickness and ultimately death. Little wonder life expectancy in the last 50 years has been on the decline. Achievements that should normally have taken 40 years to accomplish are realised in fewer than 30, at the price of dying earlier. The God of distinction says in His word:

“Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? And what communion hath light with darkness?

“2 Corinthians 6:14.”

“He then commanded in 2 Corinthians 6:17-18:

‘Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, and will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.’

“A lot of people have mixed many profane things with the sacred. The God of distinction will never lower His standards. It is our duty to live up to His standards.

“Look into your life and see where you have compromised your values as a Christian. Repent and begin to walk in the path of righteousness again.”

“The period God stopped talking to me” – Pastor Adeboye opens up https://www.adomonline.com/the-period-god-stopped-talking-to-me-pastor-adeboye-opens-up/ Fri, 03 Sep 2021 11:03:19 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2009909 Pastor Enoch Adeboye of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has disclosed how he made a mistake of pride and he suffered for it.

Addressing his members at the Redemption Camp on September 2, 2021, the renowned man of God said God once stopped talking to him for a certain period.

“Almost immediately after I got born again, God started speaking to me, I don’t do anything without his guidance or approval.

“He tells me the road to ply in Lagos so that I can bypass hold up, most of you here know how terrible Lagos traffic is. Fortunately for me, I don’t experience it because God knows a better route,” he recounted.

However, something happened that made God stop communicating with him as he used to be an interpreter to the general overseer of a church.

“My father in the Lord, then, just took a special interest in my interpretation. When other pastors in the church realised that the general overseer liked my interpretation, they stopped calling me to interpret for them and left me alone for the general overseer.

“I became full of myself and started bouncing around as interpreter to the general overseer but an incident happened one day.

“We had a program and we invited a guest minister to preach. He made a mistake that day, you may be surprised at my definition of a mistake. The mistake was that he asked me to interpret for himself. I was really angry in my spirit but I couldn’t object because it was too late,” he narrated.

ALSO READ:

Though he said he agreed to play the role at that point in time, it wasn’t from his heart.

“I stood up and interpreted for him but in my heart, I was murmuring, I said ‘How could you call me a whole interpreter to the general overseer to interpret for you. Only if he knew what was in my mind, he would have called another person to interpret that very day.

“At the end of the program, I was on my way home and God spoke, he said ‘Son, you are now too big to interpret to a man of God other than the general overseer”. After the conversation, God stopped speaking to me, I didn’t hear His voice again.

“I suffered, that whole period was like hell, I became a victim of the traffic in Lagos,” he said.

In the video below, Bishop Oyedepo stated that the doors to Churches are declared open and that anyone against it will die.

“The doors to churches across Nations are again declared opened this morning. Can I tell you this? Hunger is far more devastating than any virus that will ever visit the earth.
