Currently, the Royals find themselves in the relegation zone of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League.

In their recent Matchday 8 fixture, Legon Cities played to a goalless draw against Accra Lions at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.

In a post-match interview, Coach Fabin emphasized the youthful nature of his squad and the time required for them to develop. He called for patience from supporters as the team navigates these difficulties.

“Many of our players come from the lower leagues, so they need guidance and time to bond,” he explained. “The boys are playing well, but we are struggling to convert chances, which is crucial.”

He reassured fans, stating, “We ask for your patience; we have a young team, and once they find their rhythm, they will excel.”

Currently, Legon Cities have only two points after seven matches, with one game against Asante Kotoko pending, set to take place on Wednesday.

Aduana Stars coach left angry after draw with Kotoku Royals https://www.adomonline.com/aduana-stars-coach-left-angry-after-draw-with-kotoku-royals/ Tue, 02 May 2023 12:26:50 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2244774 Aduana Stars coach, Paa Kwesi Fabin, has taken a swipe at the referee following his side’s 1-1 draw against Kotoku Royals at Dawu in the final game of the matchday 29 games.

Aduana, who are leading the league log, went into the game looking to restore a five-point lead between them and Bechem United, who had come within two points of the Ogya lads.

Isaac Mintah gave Ogya lads the lead on the 71st minute but Kotoku Royals drew level late into injury time to deny them the win.

“Not the result I’m looking for but I’m highly disappointed in the referee’s performance in the second half,” Paa Kwesi Fabin said in the post-game interview.

“Every tackle was a foul against us. Look at the number of free kicks he gave them in the second half; is that how we want a worthy champion in the league? It’s very bad,” he said.

“We scored one and we were playing well until the referee changed all of a sudden in the second half, giving them free-kicks upon free-kicks around the 18 [yard box] – for what?” he quizzed.

With five games to the end of the season, the top eight teams in the Ghana Premier League are separated by just 10 points, with each of them still with a chance of winning the title.

Aduana will hope to return to winning ways when they host Karela United in the matchday 30 games at the Nana Agyemang Badu I Park.

Following the defeat, Fabin blames poor officiating for their exit from the competition as they were denied clear penalties in regulation time.

“I don’t talk about referees. It was very bad but we’ll leave it like that. Before we ended the first half we had a clear penalty,” he told StarTimes after the game.

“In the second half, we had two here. All were ignored. But look at the one that was given to King Faisal here. I mean it’s just comedy. I’m telling you,” he added.

Aduana Stars will host Great Olympics in the matchday 26 games of the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League.
