DJ Awana, aged 47, passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at the 37 Military Hospital after a short illness.

Having begun his distinguished media career over two decades ago with Adom FM when the station was based in Tema, DJ Awana quickly rose to prominence.

He became a beloved figure in Ghana’s media and live event industries, known for his gentle demeanor, soft-spoken nature, and his expert song selection that resonated with every occasion.

Mr. Osei reportedly passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi.

The one-week observation has been held in Ampame in Kumasi.

The event saw a gathering of family, friends, and well-wishers, who came to pay their respects and console Kweku Flick and his three siblings, who were in a somber mood throughout the ceremony.

Notable personalities in the entertainment industry, including Lil Win, Bisa Kdei, Strongman, Kofi Jamar, Official Jack GH, and others, were present to mourn with Kweku Flick.

Their presence was a testament to the deep bonds and solidarity within the Ghanaian music community, offering Flick some comfort during this difficult time.

The occasion was marked by a strong cultural representation, with traditional leaders performing rituals and customs.

The event will take place at the Police Depot Social Centre at Tesano, Accra.

The veteran musician died on Thursday, March 14, 2024, after battling liver disease.

The ‘Onyame Ehu Wu‘ hit-maker passed on at the University of Ghana Medical Center (UGMC) when he died upon arrival.

This was a few weeks after news about his illness came public, attracting support from former President John Mahama, Samira Bawumia, Wendy Shay and the Ghana Music Rights Organisation (GHAMRO) among others.

The late musician left behind 16 children.

The celebration was initially scheduled for Thursday, April 11, 2024.

According to the Ankobeahene, Oheneba Adjei Baffoe, the postponement follows a meeting with a delegation sent by the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

The decision was communicated at a joint press conference by the late queen’s mother’s family led by the Abusuapanin Nana Worae Sarpong and the Asantehene delegation led by the Amakomhene, Nana Adu Mensah who is a brother to the deceased.

The late queen mother passed after a short illness.

Despite efforts to get her the best medical care, her condition continued to deteriorate due to the challenges of old age and eventually passed on in 2023.

The family, through the media has now publicly announced her demise with all other arrangements to be communicated later.

The people of Nkoranza have been urged to remain calm as a sign of paying respect to the late Omanhemaa Nana Yaa Dudaa Kani III.

The ceremony will take place at Ejisu-Onwe in the Ashanti Region.

A lot of dignitaries are expected to attend to commiserate with the family.

Government appointees, Ministers, Members of Parliament, leading members of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) and political figures from other divides are also expected to grace the occasion.

John Kumah who was also a Deputy Finance Minister passed on Thursday, March 7, 2024, aged 45.

He left behind a wife and six children.

The ceremony will take place at the 2 Lincoln Street, Abelemkpe, Accra from 8am to 6pm.

The NPP Council of Elders member passed on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, following a brief illness.

Madam Busia is said to have died at the Nyaho Medical Centre in Accra.

She was 87 years.

This was at a solemn ceremony to mark the one-week observation of his death at Tema Community One on Saturday.

Clad in red and black mourning attire, mourners were captured in a somber mood at the funeral grounds.

Old school mates, colleagues from University of Ghana Commonwealth Hall (Vandals) among others were present to commiserate with the family.

 James succumbed to a brief illness on July 3, 2023, at a specialized hospital in Tema.

His father, Philip Dogbeda Lutterodt, says he noticed something was wrong with his son when he came home on vacation in April 2023.

Mr Lutterodt also mentioned that James had shared certain information about incidents at the University of Ghana, but they have decided to withhold those details for the time being.

Despite their loss, the family expressed gratitude to God for everything.

The 19-year-old was part of the team that made history in the 2021 NSMQ for Keta Senior High School (KETASCO).

James, along with his teammates Francisca Lamini and Bright Senyo Godzo, represented Keta Senior High School (Ketasco) in the competition and captivated viewers with their exceptional performance throughout the contest, leading them to the finale.

Although they did not win the competition, their awesome performance won them praise and admiration as the first Volta regional school to make it that far.

The decision was borne out of some deliberations between the family of Atsu, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the Sports Ministry.

They discussed extensively the funeral rites of the late Black Stars player at his family house in Accra.

Citi Sports reports that Deputy Sports Minister, Evans Bobie, led the officials from the Sports Ministry and GFA to commiserate with the bereaved family.

Auntie May, as she was popularly known, was said to have passed on on the morning of Monday, October 31, 2022.

The incident occurred at the Eastern Regional Hospital.

She was 84.

The Community II Presec School Park was crowded with mourners from far and near as the one-week celebration of veteran actor, Ekow Blankson was held.

The one-week observation of comic actor, Francis Yaw Ofori, popularly known in showbiz as Baba Spirit, has been held.

He is survived by a wife and two children.

The popular gospel artiste, before his death, had three albums to his credit.

The solemn ceremony took place at the Christ Congregation of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Akropong in the Eastern Region.

Present to mourn with the family on Friday, April 22, 2022, was President Akufo-Addo, former president, John Mahama,  Akuapem North MP; Nana Ama Dokua Asiamah Adjei, personnel from the security services and other political divides.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Chairman, Samuel Ofosu-Ampfo, former Chief of Staff; Julius Debrah, Youth Organiser George Opare Addo and a former High Commissioner Victor Smith among others were also present.

Emily Akuffo affectionately called Sisi Ama Oduraa reportedly died on Friday, April 8.

She was the wife of late former Head of State Lt. General Fred Akuffo, who led the Supreme Military Council between 1978 and 1979.

The deceased was also a former Member of Parliament for Navrongo Central in the Upper East Region on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The solemn ceremony was preceded by a memorial mass at the Christ The King Church in Accra on Wednesday, November 3, 2021.

It was followed by a family gathering at his residence at Westlands.

In attendance was the Acting Chief Executive Director of the Energy Ministry, Wilhelmina Asamoah who led a delegation to commiserate with the family.

Mr Adda passed on on Thursday, October 14, 2021.

Sources indicate he died at a hospital in Accra after a short ailment.

The solemn ceremony took place on Saturday, June 26, 2021, at Millennium City near Kasoa in the Central Region.

Clad in red and black mourning attire, a footage from the ceremony shows mourners in a somber mood at the funeral grounds.

Scores of personnel from the Ghana Police Service were in attendance, including the Director-General of Welfare, DCOP Maame Tiwah Addo-Danquah.

The policeman, General Constable with the Headquarters SWAT team and one other, were shot dead in a daylight bullion van robbery on Monday, June 14, 2021.

According to a witness, the police officer was providing security for the van while the young lady only witnessed the incident at Adedenpo, near Jamestown.

The armed men, numbering about four, are said to have trailed the van with a taxi and okada.

When the van got to a less crowded area, the robbers on the okada, attacked by firing indiscriminately at the vehicle, killing the police officer on board instantly.

The men, after shooting the policeman in the head, took his gun and destroyed the locks of the vehicle before carrying away an unspecified amount of money.

The ceremony, which was held in strict adherence to the covid-19 safety protocols, came off on Thursday, March 25, 2021, at the Happy FM premises.
