Peter Kwaku Atuahene, has charged the newly inducted headmistress of Ola Girls’ Senior High School at Kenyasi in the Ahafo Region to ensure that discipline among students does not decline.

Beatrice Adongo, Ola Girls Headmistress

Unlike other institutions that have recorded cases of students attacking teachers, drug abuse, violent protests, and fighting with weapons, he said Ola Girls’ SHS has largely avoided such negative incidents.

He, therefore, urged the new headmistress to intensify measures that will protect and enhance the school’s image.

According to him, sustaining this standard requires collaboration with stakeholders, especially teaching and non-teaching staff.

“The headmistress can succeed only if she works closely with those who share responsibility for shaping the students,” Bishop Atuahene stressed.

Also speaking at the event, the Toprehene of Kenyasi No. 2, Nana Adu Sarpong, and the new headmistress, Beatrice Adongo, called for unity and support from all stakeholders.

Ola Girls SHS’s cultural week celebration was designed to teach the students the cultural and traditions of all 16 regions of Ghana.

The event, attended by chiefs, Ghana Education Service (GES) staff, alumni, other schools, and the general public, was held under the theme “The Role of Culture in the Formation of the 21st Century Girl.”

Assistant Headmaster for Administration at Ola Girls SHS, Richard Ernest Amankwah, explained to Adom News that, the celebration was necessary because students are increasingly distancing themselves from Ghana’s rich cultural heritage.

The goal was to help students, not only from Ola Girls but from other schools as well to appreciate the country’s rich culture and reduce their inclination to adopt foreign cultures from Europe and America.

Dwaatoafohemaa of Kenyasi No. 1, Nana Yaa Kyerew, and the Head of Past Students, Sweetie Godbless Owusu, both praised the school’s management for organizing such an educational event.
