The directive according to the NPP is to strengthen campaign efforts following observation that some candidates are not consistently present in their constituencies.

This was contained in a statement signed by the General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong on Friday, October 4.

The statement raised concerns that the phenomenon if not checked could impact the party’s performance in both presidential and parliamentary elections.

“You should know that this lack of engagement would significantly affect our electoral fortunes in both presidential and parliamentary elections,” part of the statement read.

In light of this, the NPP has taken the matter seriously and expects all parliamentary candidates to dedicate sufficient time to engage with constituents.

To ensure compliance, all regional campaign teams have been tasked to monitor and report on the activities of the candidates.

“The regional campaign teams are hereby directed to submit weekly reports of the activities of their parliamentary candidates to the National Secretariat. We trust in your usual attention and cooperation in this matter,” the statement added.

NPP verifies parliamentary candidates https://www.adomonline.com/npp-verifies-parliamentary-candidates/ Mon, 12 Aug 2024 09:02:49 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2432487 The New Patriotic Party (NPP) will from today, August 12 to August 16, 2024, begin the verification of all its 276 parliamentary aspirants ahead of the opening of nomination between September 9 and 13 by the Electoral Commission (EC).

The verification will take place at the Agyemin-Boateng Conference Room at Kokomlemle.

In line with that, the party has constituted a nine-member Parliamentary Verification Committee under the Chairmanship of Frank Davies with the responsibility of ensuring that all the 276 aspirants would have their documentation properly scrutinised.

The committee will sit between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. each day.

With Evans Nimako, Director of Research and Elections, as secretary to the committee, the other members of the committee include Gary Nimako, Ben

Abdallah, O.B. Amoah, Joyce Opoku-Boateng, Sophia Kokor, Nana Adwoa Adobea Asante and Michael Kwadwo Nketiah.

Schedules

The committee will begin its work today with the verification of documents of aspirants from 53 constituencies in the Ashanti and Ahafo regions.

It will be followed by aspirants in the Eastern and Central regions on August 13, 2024, where the committee will vet the aspirants from 56 constituencies.

Aspirants from the Greater Accra and Volta regions will follow on August 14, 2024, with candidates from 52 constituencies and then aspirants from 57 constituencies from the Northern, North East, Savannah, Upper East and Upper West Regions on August 15, 2024.

It will end with aspirants from 58 constituencies from the Oti, Western, Western North, Bono and Bono East regions on August 16, 2024.

Terms of Reference

Mr Nimako told the Daily Graphic that the major concern of the Committee was to further probe the documentation as presented and “effectively ensure that all of the candidates meet the Constitutional requirements as outlined in Article 94 of the 1992 Constitution.”

He said the committee would verify that each document complied with the regulations and requirements of the Electoral Commission (EC); gather and present a comprehensive report detailing each candidate’s compliance status and communicate with the candidates to address any identified issue during the screening process.

“As it is the responsibility of the Committee to recommend to the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party, on the suitability of a candidate, the Committee still bears that onerous burden of seeing to it that all available and useful information are relied upon as basis for their recommendations,” he explained.

NPP Parliamentary candidates will be given targets in 2024 elections – Nana B https://www.adomonline.com/npp-parliamentary-candidates-will-be-given-targets-in-2024-elections-nana-b/ Fri, 22 Mar 2024 09:34:28 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2371948 The National Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye says the party’s parliamentary candidates would be allocated targets in the upcoming general elections.

He said this was aimed at enticing the PCs and ensuring that they do not defer from campaigning for votes after being allocated the necessary resources with the mindset that the NPP is not popular in their constituency.

Mr. Boakye was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the Volta Regional Campaign Team at the NPP regional secretariat in Ho.

“Let me on the authority of His Excellency, the next President and the 2024 leadership of the campaign team inform you that you are going to be given targets”, he said.

He added that the national campaign team would analyze the performance of the NPP in each of the constituencies, the voting pattern and arrive at achievable targets to break the 8.

He asserted that votes from every constituency are important as it would compound to eventually help the Presidential Candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia win the elections and retain the NPP in power.

“For instance, if you achieve your target, even if you lose the election, in our books you have won the election. If at the end of the day, you do not achieve your target, but then you win your constituency, in our books you have lost. Do you know why, because we want parliamentary [votes] and we want presidential [votes] as well”, he stressed.

Mr. Boakye said that PCs who achieve their targets would merit appointments in the government of Dr. Bawumia.

He entreated the Constituency Executives and Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives to desist from undermining their PC and join forces with them to canvas for votes ahead of the elections.

“Please, this is a request from His Excellency the Vice President, in unity we shall prevail, it is important that we work together to make sure that we achieve our targets”, he said.

Mr. Boakye expressed optimism that the Volta Region under the leadership of the Regional Chairman, Makafui Woanyah would witness an appreciation in votes in the December 7th general elections.

NPP endorses unopposed parliamentary candidates in Northern region https://www.adomonline.com/npp-endorses-unopposed-parliamentary-candidates-in-northern-region/ Mon, 22 Jan 2024 08:20:15 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2344739 The New Patriotic Party (NPP) organized an Extraordinary Constituency Delegates Conference on Sunday, January 21, 2024, to endorse aspiring parliamentary candidates going unopposed.

In line with Article 7(31) of the NPP’s constitution, delegates in Tolon unanimously supported Habib Iddrisu for a second term in Parliament through popular acclamation at the Sari Conference Hall in the Northern Region.

The event, supervised by Tolon Electoral Commission (EC) District Officer, Ben Teye, saw thousands of delegates affirming their support for the parliamentary candidate.

“As many endorse the candidature of Honourable Habib Iddrisu, Say I. The crowd cheered “I” in confirmation of the parliamentary candidate.”

All present delegates and party members shouted “I” in unison when the EC Officer asked if they supported the MP.

Incumbent MP for Nsawam-Adoagyiri, Frank Annor Dompreh, also Majority Chief Whip, praised Tolon’s legislature as a valuable asset, attributing his significant contributions to most achievements in Parliament.

“If there has been any success chalked in parliament, Habib played a role. In this context and as the saying goes, behind every successful whip is a deputy whip.”

“This is my first time coming to my colleague Honorable Habib’s constituency, but I can feel his popularity on my skin. Don’t take your member of parliament for granted; he is probably the first MP to be in leadership in his first term.”

The MP for Tolon and second deputy majority chief whip, described the day as a demonstration of unity and togetherness in the Tolon constituency, appealing to all constituency executives to unite for success.

“In 2020, we won 75 out of 129 polling stations with a parliamentary gap of 9,280. This time we aim higher; we must win every polling station.”

He expressed gratitude to constituents for their confidence, allowing him to go unopposed in the internal parliamentary contest.

He further tasked delegates to secure a resounding victory for the NPP presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, in the 2024 elections.

Similarly, Karaga, Gushegu, Bimbila, and Tatale-Sanguli in the Northern Region, also confirmed their parliamentary candidates during events held within their respective constituencies.
