2024 election: NPP Secretary raises alarm over appointees in Bono region

General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Frimpong Kodua has raised concern that government appointees in the Bono Region have lost touch with their base.

This according to him was the feedback from his tour in the region.

Expressing his frustration in a Facebook post, he cautioned appointees not to force him to mention names.

NPP Deputy General Secretary suspended

The Deputy Bono Regional Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Isaac Kwame Benkae has been suspended with immediate effect.

The Regional Executive Committee took the decision, citing misconduct.

The suspension was announced by the Regional Communications Officer, Gabriel Koran-Ababio in accordance with Article 3 (7) and Article 4 (7 and 8) of the NPP Constitution.

Mr Benkae following the decision has been prohibited from participating in any party activities, attending meetings, or representing the party in any capacity.

“A disciplinary committee will be convened to investigate the matter further and recommend appropriate action based on the findings. This committee will review the conduct of the Deputy Secretary and determine the next steps in accordance with the party’s rules and regulations” the party announced.

Mr Korang-Ababio further underscored the importance of maintaining the integrity of the party and ensuring that all members adhere to the highest standards of conduct.

The Bono Region New Patriotic Party (NPP) has lost one of its leading members, Nana Osei.

Though the cause of death remains sketchy, news about the demise of Nana Sei, as he is affectionately called, broke out on Friday, July 29, 2022.

The regional Secretariat announced the news on its Facebook page which read: A patriot has fallen; Rest well Nana Sei.

Scores of party supporters have poured in commiseration messages to the family and tributes in his honour.

Sunyani was on Saturday wrapped in black, red and New Patriotic Party (NPP) colours as the Deputy Bono Regional Organiser, Kofi Darko was buried.

The Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, General Secretary John Boadu, the Regional Chairman, Kwame Baffoe aka Abronye DC and other firebrands were present to pay their last respects.

Mr Darko passed on on Tuesday, August 2, 2021, after battling a short illness.

He was 64 years.

Mr Darko has been eulogised by many as a dearly-beloved, hardworking stalwart of the NPP who served in several important roles.
