The robbers, numbering about six, attacked at least 10 vehicles transporting mostly traders to Kumasi at about 5 a.m.

An eyewitness, (name withheld), tells Nhyira FM the robbers barricaded the road at a spot on the Nwineso Number 1—Trabuom section of the road. 

They then took turns to rob commuters of unspecified amounts of money, mobile phones, wedding rings, among other valuable items, as they forced victims to lie face down.

“Our driver first saw a flashlight from the robbers but mistook it for an oncoming vehicle.

He drove past a man who appeared to be attending a nature’s call. We then run into a group of six young men wielding these assault rifles used by police and the military. Then, they rushed to our vehicle and demanded we hand over everything in our possession to them. One of them slapped me before he demanded I hand over my money. I trembled.”

According to the eyewitness, the robbers wielded guns similar to the one used by the police and the military.

“The robbers will then rush to attack passengers anytime a vehicle gets to the barricade. An old woman complained bitterly to the robbers about her aching feet, but they wouldn’t budge. They assaulted her despite her appeals.” She said.

According to the eyewitness, the robbers manhandled and stripped some of their victims naked, while physically assaulting some of the male victims in the process.

Among those injured is a driver.

“Another woman in her 30s was forced to strip naked in front of the robbers. They insisted she had hidden some of the money in her private parts. Even when they find 50 pesewas in your possession after the first search, they will shoot you. We have been left traumatized”

The Nwineso-Trabuom-Foase has, in recent times, become a safe-haven for robbers. A commuter was killed by a group of armed robbers who mounted barricades on the road.

Though the police patrol team is stationed on that robbery-prone stretch, the incident is said to have occurred in the absence of police.

Victims of Friday’s robbery incident are raising concerns over the absence of the police.

She wants assurances from the Regional Police Command to address the security lapses.

The NCA has directed telecommunication companies to begin blocking mobile services to unregistered SIM card users ahead of the September 30 deadline elapses.

According to a statement signed by the Authority’s Director-General, outgoing calls and data services for a sequential batch of numbers will be blocked for two days weekly on a rotational basis.

“MNOs [Mobile Network Operators] shall divide the unregistered SIMs into five batches for the purpose of implementing this punitive measure.

“These measures shall exclude blocking of SMS to give defaulting subscribers the opportunity to initiate registration if they so wish.

“Subscribers who fully register their SIM Cards within the period they have been blocked will only be unblocked by the MNOs after 48 hours to avoid the MNOs tampering with their systems intermittently,” part of the statement read.

The incident took place on 17 August in a yet to be identified city in Brazil. The drama was captured on CCTV with the video subsequently shared on Twitter.

The video shows three robbers approaching a white sedan that is parked on the roadside.

In an instant, the robbers start to violently knock on the windows demanding for the vehicle occupants to open the doors. The left back door then opens before two of the robbers help themselves with the front doors to occupy the car.

From the backdoor, a stark naked man and woman are seen frantically coming out of the vehicle as the third robber moves in to occupy their seats. Before the car takes off, the robbers throw the couple’s clothes at them leaving the distraught love birds with a little more dignity.

News on what became of the robbers or the couple is unknown.

The Lagos couple was under the influence of drugs, it has been revealed.

The couple, who caused confusion and panic in the area, also tried to commit suicide, according to reports.

It was gathered that the lady is an American who came into the country last October to experience his “level of consciousness”.

According to the chairman of the landlords’ association in the neighborhood, they were accompanied to their apartment where they slit their wrists and necks in what seemed like a suicide attempt.

He added that the couple remarked that they intend to die and resurrect in three days.

Further investigation of their apartments revealed some items such as grade A drugs and other herb substances.

But the artist also wanted to take a jab at the superficiality of the sport. “With my nude actions, I also want to set an example for diversity and naturalness and against the dependence and influence of social media and false ideals of beauty,” Starczewski said.

Body authenticity is something that is absent in modern football and that is reflected in how the sport sells a certain kind of body image. “Everything has to be perfect there too, and in the end, it’s all about commercialization,” Starczewski added.

Salomey Bensah, wife of Prophet George Bensah, who said she was stripped naked by ushers in church, says she still loves her husband despite the incident.

She said that her husband’s demand for a divorce was because of his plan to get married to one Rose Coffie, a woman said to be a prophetess.

“When I heard about my husband’s marriage, I went to report it to the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit, I was then requested by the police to obtain evidence of the marriage between my husband and Rose Coffie. And that was my mission in the church on that day, only for me to be humiliated by the ushers in the church,” she said.

Mrs Bensah is believed to have been stripped naked by ushers of Peniel Word Ministry church at Kasoa Samanhyia in the Central region for trying to stop Prophet George Bensah, her husband from marrying another woman.

He says the incident which happened between the police and the driver should not be blamed on the police officer because he (police) was not at fault.

The cab driver Kwabena Danso, who is traumatized, was disgraced in the open by the peacemaker with service number 36832.

The officer allegedly accosted him at a Fuel Station after allegedly jumping the light and ended up tearing apart his clothing.

But ASP Cephas Arthur told Adom News the findings read in part that: “The taxi driver drove through a red light at Anyaa Market junction on 2nd May, 2017.

“The Taxi driver resisted lawful arrest, struggled with arresting officer, tearing his own trousers and dress to free himself from the grips of the arresting officer.

“The Taxi driver assaulted the police officer in uniform as corroborated by witnesses” he said.

The cab driver Kwabena Danso, who is traumatized, told Captain Smart on Adom FM’s Morning Show “Dwaso Nsem” Thursday that he was disgraced in the open by the peacemaker with service number 36832.

He said the officer allegedly accosted him at a Fuel Station after allegedly jumping the light and ended up tearing apart his clothing.

“Frequent users of that Anyaa stretch of the highway know that particular traffic light is faulty. It is usually on amber or switches to red and within a blink of an eye it turns green then amber then red.

“I was surprised the police officer came all the way to the filling station and said I was under arrest. I explained to him that the light doesn’t work and it’s a fact and even pointed it to him, but he insisted I have flouted traffic regulations.

“He kept pressing that we should go to the police station and I said he should sit in my car so we go together. However, he refused on the basis that there was someone already in the car. But I told him I can’t walk to the station when there is a vehicle which could make our journey faster and easier.

He continued that “This resulted in an altercation and suddenly he held my shirt and began pulling and squeezing me by the neck. I restrained myself because of his uniform, but he went beyond his boundaries when I realised my dress was torn in the process. I was expecting him to give me some level of respect when it was left with my boxer shorts on, but he didn’t and kept stretching that too until I was stark naked in public,” Danso narrated his ordeal.

According to the civilian, “when I realised I was being disgraced, I decided to defend myself and that resulted in a physical brawl before I could gain my freedom. It took the intervention of the boys around to free me from his grips.”

Danso said he had to go to a nearby shop to get a new attire to cover his nakedness.

He said he is currently suffering some pains on his forehead, chest and neck after struggling with the police officer.

He has since reported the case to the Police Intelligence and Professional Standards (PIPS) Directorate.

Meanwhile, the Director of Public Affairs of the Ghana Police Service, Superintendent Cephas Arthur said the Police administration is not happy about the incident.

He said his outfit will meet today and the IGP has ordered for immediate investigation into the incident.

“The police officer has no justification to strip an offender naked in any way,” Superintendent Cephas Arthur stated.
