Ghanaian reggae artiste Ras Kuuku has firmly questioned Nacee’s status as a gospel musician.

In a conversation with DJ Slim on Daybreak Hitz, Ras Kuuku did not hold back his disagreement with the TGMA’s Board for unfairly limiting the gospel categories to just gospel musicians.

He took a strong stance, asserting that it is essential to scrutinize whether Nacee truly qualifies as a gospel artist.

“Nacee is not a gospel musician, Nacee is a producer,” he stated.

DJ Slim highlighted Nacee’s extensive gospel repertoire, while Ras Kuuku pointed out his secular hits like “Kwen Kwen,” composed for the National Democratic Congress. Nacee is also known for songs such as “Boys Boys,” “Dondo,” and “Paddy Paddy.”

The Telecel Ghana Music Awards defines ‘Best Gospel Song’ as the most popular Christian song released that year, based on public excitement and support, exclusively for works by Gospel artists.

Meanwhile, Ras Kuuku has intimated that his song titled ‘Me Mpaebo’ is one of the biggest gospel songs released in the past ten years.

Ras Kuuku’s comment about Nacee implies that Nacee’s work on secular songs may have given him a divided brand perception among his music patrons.

Nacee bemoans low performance fees for gospel artistes https://www.adomonline.com/nacee-bemoans-low-performance-fees-for-gospel-artistes/ Mon, 25 Nov 2024 17:09:08 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2475564 Ghanaian music producer and gospel musician, Nana Kwaku Osei, known in showbiz as Nacee, has underscored several factors affecting the financial fortunes of gospel musicians.

In an interview with GhanaWeb, he explained that event organizers do not pay gospel musicians their due for performances, a situation he believes is hindering the progress of the gospel music industry.

“We lack financial support because most gospel musicians, when they go to events, the organizers do not pay them as much as they deserve. So, we end up fighting more than we should,” he said.

He emphasized that having sufficient financial backing would greatly impact their ministry.

“I believe that with proper finances or financial support, we will be able to do more,” he noted.

Nacee made these comments at the 2024 edition of the Praise Achievement Awards ceremony, which was held in Accra on November 24, 2024, at the Perez Dome.

The apology comes in light of revelations that Chef Smith falsified his Guinness World Record attempt for the longest cooking marathon.

During the interview, Nacee expressed deep regret for not verifying the authenticity of Chef Smith’s Guinness World Record cooking marathon before promoting it to his followers.

The musician, who had enthusiastically supported Chef Smith’s cook-a-thon, acknowledged his oversight and the subsequent disappointment it caused among his fans and the general public.

“I want to sincerely apologize to everyone who believed in Chef Smith’s record because I endorsed it without verifying the facts,” Nacee stated, visibly emotional as he knelt during the interview.

“I was genuinely excited to support a fellow Ghanaian in what I thought was a remarkable achievement. I am sorry for the trust I misplaced, and I plead with all Ghanaians to forgive Chef Smith as well.”

Nacee’s public apology came after Chef Smith admitted to falsifying documentation related to his record attempt, which was intended to bring him personal fame and media attention.

Following his confession, Chef Smith issued an apology to the management of Amadia Shopping Center, where the event was held, and to his supporters.

Addressing concerns about the meaning of specific lyrics, such as the phrase “Antipulci,” Nacee admitted that they did not make sense.

Winning ‘Artiste of the Year’ would be major news for Ghana – Nacee [Video] https://www.adomonline.com/winning-artiste-of-the-year-would-be-major-news-for-ghana-nacee-video/ Thu, 30 May 2024 20:52:32 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2402498 Gospel singer, Nacee has made a bold statement ahead of the 2024 Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA).

According to him, winning Artiste of the Year would be groundbreaking news for the country.

Nacee explained that, he would give more exposure to the award scheme than his fellow nominees Black Sherif, King Promise, Stonebwoy, and others.

In an interview on Joy Prime, Nacee said “Ghana’s Music Awards will have more exposure if I win Artiste of the Year. Because it’s normal if any of my contenders win; it’s no news. King Promise, Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, Kuami Eugene, and Black Sherif winning is not news. Where the news is, is when I win Artiste of the Year.”

Nacee’s statement have stirred anticipation as the Telecel Ghana Music Awards 2024 approaches, set to take place on June 1.

This year’s event sees numerous Ghanaian musicians vying for top honours, with heightened competition leading to increased public interest and speculation.

The intensity of the competition has even prompted some to urge Ghana’s Health Service to be on standby, anticipating that the excitement and pressure of the awards might lead to spikes in blood pressure among attendees and fans.

The Aseda hitmaker revealed that, he was diagnosed with Sickle Cell disease at an early age.

He said the doctor predicted that he might only live for another 20 to 23 years.

However, Nacee has defied the odds and is now approaching his 50th birthday, a testament to his resilience and faith.

Reflecting on his journey, he acknowledged the critical role his doctor played in managing his condition.

Though the doctor has since passed away, Nacee expressed profound gratitude, stating, “He is very wonderful. He is the one that God used to save my life at that time.”

Interestingly, Nacee also shared a pivotal moment in his journey towards healing.

During a church service, he responded to an altar call and received prayers and anointing from the church elders.

“The pastor called the elders, and they all came forward, poured oil on me, and prayed for me. Since that day till today… I have never felt sick again. Never. None of my kids [too],” he recounted.

Nacee replies Broda Sammy [Video] https://www.adomonline.com/nacee-replies-broda-sammy-video/ Thu, 30 May 2024 13:20:02 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2402242 Gospel musician, Nacee has responded to allegations made by fellow gospel artiste, Broda Sammy.

The livid musician claimed Nacee as a member of the Ghana Music Awards board ensure he is not nominated for any award.

Broda Sammy said until Nacee is dead, he will never win any award in Ghana.

But in an interview on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM, Nacee dismissed these claims, emphasizing that his time is too valuable to be wasted on baseless accusations.

“My times are very precious. I don’t have the time for chasing empty barrels,” he stated.

Nacee also noted that, addressing such issues prematurely could be unwise.

“Today is not the right time to talk about that issue. Just because you get to court early doesn’t mean you are victorious. If he reads what’s happening, everyone is against it. He is being insulted a lot on social media,” he remarked.

Meanwhile, the Aseda hitmaker expressed concern over Broda Sammy’s dangerous utterances, highlighting the potential legal consequences of wishing someone dead.

“Saying I have to die for him to win a nomination — the police can arrest you for that. Why do you think someone should die before you win?” Nacee questioned.

He urged Broda Sammy to focus on his career and release quality songs instead of making harmful statements.

“All your career, have you even been shortlisted? He should think about his career, and I am willing to support him,” Nacee told Andy Dosty.

Nacee is not a member of the TGMA board – Robert Klah denies Broda Sammy’s claims https://www.adomonline.com/nacee-is-not-a-member-of-the-tgma-board-robert-klah-denies-broda-sammys-claims/ Mon, 15 Apr 2024 23:55:03 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2381495 Head of Public Events and Communications for Charter House, Robert Klah, has debunked some claims made by musician Broda Sammy against his colleague Nacee regarding the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA).

This comes shortly after Broda Sammy publicly announced that he will not be able to win any award because of Nacee’s position as a board member of the awards scheme.

In an interview with Doreen Avio on Daybreak Hitz, Mr. Klah clarified the false news regarding Nacee’s involvement as a Board Member of the Telecel Music Awards.

“I think Nacee and Broda Sammy are two adults who obviously can solve things amongst themselves so I will leave it to them. Concerning the Board, I can confidently say Nacee is not part of the board members”, he said on Hitz FM.

He further challenged Broda Sammy to present proof to back his allegation.

“The Bible admonishes us to tell the truth. Broad Sammy is a Gospel Musician which means he should align with the tenets of the Bible and if what he says is true, then I dare him to simply prove that Nacee is on the board”, he stated.

Mr. Klah expressed his displeasure with the implications the claim caused, highlighting that “suspicion is different from reality”.

“This does not sit well with us [TGMA Team] and it is inappropriate for him to confidently say someone is on the board when the person isn’t”, he added.

He also assured all individuals who petitioned for corrections on their nominations for the Telecel Music Awards to be patient as they have worked on them and would reach out soon.

According to Brother Sammy, the issue started when he was snubbed after joining from Nacee’s #AsedaChallenge a year ago.

Brother Sammy noted that, he participated in the challenge zealously to support his colleague but he did not get the reaction he was hoping for.

He said he was taken aback when Nacee reportedly deleted his entry from the challenge, “because it did better than the 10 million entries he received.

Brother Sammy expressed disappointment, especially as Nacee had initially acknowledged his entry by reposting it and gave a positive feedback.

The gospel musician hinted at potential bias, suggesting that Nacee was disturbed with the numbers on his challenge, than the official video.

Brother Sammy is convinced he did not get any nomination in the upcoming Ghana Music Awards due to Nacee influence as a board member.

He said he no longer bothers to apply for awards but prefers to focus on his career and financial success.

The Black Stars are currently competing at the 34th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast with the hope of ending the country’s 42-year trophy drought.

The last time Ghana won its last AFCON trophy was in 1982.

However, in a recent Facebook post, the ‘Aseda’ hitmaker said Ghanaians have shown enormous love to the senior national team hence the team should translate into winning their matches.

Nacee added that, the support and love shouldn’t go to waste. He asked his followers who agreed with his suggestion to say “AYT”.

Nacee

The responses of ‘AYT” in the comment section indicate that a number of observers agreed with Nacee’s suggestion.

He wrote: “GHANA ?? BLACKSTARS!!! This level of Love Ghanaians have shown you… If you do not win your matches the best to do is to say they should give your monies to orphans… All those in support say AYT….”

Ghana however opened their AFCON campaign with a 2-1 defeat against Cape Verde.

The Black Stars will hope to record their first win when they face Egypt on Thursday at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium in Abidjan with kick-off scheduled at 20:00GMT.

Nacee makes history with maiden KAVOD concert https://www.adomonline.com/nacee-makes-history-with-maiden-kavod-concert/ Tue, 28 Nov 2023 10:24:12 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2325171 In a spellbinding spectacle at the National Theatre on a Sunday evening, gospel musician Nacee etched his name in history with the inaugural KAVOD concert, a riveting fusion of theatre and music.

The concert’s masterpiece was an enthralling stage play chronicling Nacee’s arduous journey to stardom. The curtain rose on a simulated recording studio, where the actor portraying Nacee regaled studio guests with the saga of his life.

The narrative unfolded through poignant flashbacks, depicting a young Nacee navigating the labyrinth of menial jobs – from a construction site laborer to a chop bar fufu pounder, an electrical apprentice, and a budding musician. The audience was transported to the days when Nacee weathered nights in a dilapidated garage, steadfastly pursuing his musical passion amid the trials of life.

From the cacophony of unpolished tunes that echoed through his early attempts, the flashback scenes traced his evolution into a polished artist who, after numerous trials, finally recorded a compelling demo. The struggle to choose a stage name – from Naasei to Black Ninja and Black Nana – culminated in the birth of ‘Nacee,’ a name that has become synonymous with his musical prowess.

The narrative delved into the intricacies of Nacee’s love life, spotlighting his relationship with Abrefi, a graduate who supported him in upgrading his living conditions. However, the romance was short-lived after a failed UK Visa interview shattered Abrefi’s dreams of a ‘borga’s’ wife, leading to a heart-wrenching break up.

A standout scene featured ‘Kavod FM,’ where comedians Foster Romanus and Clemento Suarez engaged in a spirited debate about Nacee’s collaboration with Guru on ‘Boys Boys.’ The play skillfully navigated the tensions between secular and gospel music, showcasing Nacee’s versatility in composing both spiritual and secular hits.

Transitioning to the modern-day Nacee, the narrative explored his role as the official DJ for former President Kufuor’s campaign, contributions to the ‘Believe in Ghana’ campaign for Akufo Addo, including a touching tribute to the late President Atta Mills, his relationship with ex-president John Mahama and the widely acclaimed campaign songs he composed for the latter.

A poignant moment surfaced as Nacee shared his battles with depression after facing backlash for producing campaign songs for Mahama. Amidst profound life lessons, the play culminated in a live performance by the real Nacee, emerging in a resplendent white ensemble to the euphoria of a rain-defying audience.

The finalists of the Aseda Open Verse Challenge also took the stage, captivating the audience with a live performance featuring a medley of songs.

The theatrical music odyssey, witnessed by dignitaries like Sonnie Badu, Empress Gifty, Piesie Esther, Asiedu Nketia, Gizella Tetteh Agbotui among others; unfolded as an unforgettable experience, leaving the National Theatre pulsating with the rhythm of Nacee’s timeless melodies.

Hosted by Kofi Okyere Darko (KOD) and Joy Prime’s Roselyn Felli, the event marked a triumphant celebration of resilience, faith, and the enduring power zeal of an icon like Nacee.

Piesie Esther speaks on Nacee’s agenda to share condoms at his concert https://www.adomonline.com/piesie-esther-speaks-on-nacees-agenda-to-share-condoms-at-his-concert/ Fri, 24 Nov 2023 13:10:36 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2323850 Gospel musician, Piesie Esther has weighed in on the recent controversy surrounding Nacee’s intention to distribute condoms at his concert.

Speaking in an interview on Joy Prime’s Prime Morning on Friday, Nacee explained that, there is a need to intensify the use of condoms during sex, especially among couples; the reason he believes his sponsors will share condoms at his concert.

While acknowledging the purpose of condoms for birth control, Piesie shared her reservations about implementing a similar initiative at her concerts.

However, she said she sees nothing wrong with it because she believes the initiative is not in anyway to promote fornication or casual sex.

She is certain Nacee will share the condoms to only couples hence could not fathom the hullabaloo about the issue.

“That is Nacee’s agenda so I won’t sit here and say it is wrong. There’s nothing wrong with it. But for me, I haven’t thought about such a thing” Piesie said in an interview on Starr Chat.

Nacee discusses ‘Onaapo’ as he discloses composition of myriad of songs for NPP https://www.adomonline.com/nacee-discusses-onaapo-as-he-discloses-composition-of-myriad-of-songs-for-npp/ Mon, 20 Nov 2023 12:55:45 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2321459 Prominent Ghanaian gospel artist and music producer, Nana Osei, popularly recognized as Nacee, has expressed his openness to composing songs for political parties.

Nacee sees himself primarily as a versatile producer willing to collaborate with any political party or organization that seeks his musical expertise.

During an interview with Andy Dosty on Adom TV, Nacee revealed that his dedication to his role as a producer enables him to engage with any political party seeking his services.

This revelation follows his composition of Onaapo, a notable political song for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) during the 2016 elections.

Explaining his perspective, Nacee stated, “I went abroad to buy my equipment for work. If anyone comes to my studio as a client and asks me to promote a product, I take my payment and do it for you, but it doesn’t imply I am aligned with a particular party. If you provide me with sustenance and my family is well, I don’t mind.”

Nacee clarified that his involvement with political parties extends beyond the NDC, disclosing that he has composed political songs for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in various election years, including 2000, 2004, 2008, and 2012. “If you are NPP, I will do it for you, and if you are NDC too, I will,” he added.

Addressing the process of composing political songs, Nacee emphasized that he doesn’t need to align with a party’s ideologies.

“If you create a song for a political party, you need to understand their positions on the ballot paper. They provide you with the message they want,” he explained.

Responding to concerns about potential criticism, Nacee acknowledged initial misunderstandings but credited radio presenters for educating the public on why political affiliation should not hinder artists from pursuing their creative endeavors.

“In the beginning, there was a little misunderstanding. But I believe radio presenters have done well with the education on why political affiliation and love shouldn’t stop me from my work,” he concluded.

Gospel musician Nacee to share condoms at upcoming concert https://www.adomonline.com/gospel-musician-nacee-to-share-condoms-at-upcoming-concert/ Fri, 17 Nov 2023 15:39:51 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2320683 Renowned gospel singer and record producer, Nacee has explained why his maiden concert, Kavod has a condom company as a sponsor.

He said women who are allergic to some contraceptive pills might prefer condoms, since that could be a preferable option to prevent pregnancy.

Speaking in an interview on Joy Prime’s Prime Morning on Friday, the musician mentioned that there is a need to intensify the use of condoms during sex, especially among couples; the reason Total Family Health Organisation (TFHO), the producer of Ebony Condoms, is sponsoring his concert.

“Females are very sensitive beings. God created you guys differently, and your hormonal balance is kind of totally different. Most of you are not okay with those contraceptive pills when you take them. Most women don’t like it. Some complain that when they take it, they begin to gain weight, and some of them also have reactions after taking it. Married people sometimes want to stay away from pregnancy. So, even if you’re married and you have reactions after taking contraceptives, the only thing that you can use to prevent the pregnancy that you’re not ready for is a condom,” he explained to show host Roselyn Felli.

Nacee added that, having such a sponsor at his event helps promote the company’s products to make profit so that employees and employers can pay their tithes in church.

He mentioned that although it is vital to promote the Kingdom of God, money is one of the major requirements to help push the agenda, and so, no matter the business one is engaged in, God accepts their tithes.

“At the end of the day, we need money to push the kingdom. We buy Bibles,” he said.

Asked whether condoms will be shared at the event grounds, he replied, “I’m sure the company will provide some giveaways.”

The Kavod Concert 2023 is the maiden event to be staged by Nacee Music since he started gospel music many years ago.

Explaining the meaning of Kavod and why the choice of name was important, he said his team wanted a name that would suit the attribute of God on the day of the event, and after several deliberations on the name selection, they finally concluded on Kavod, which means ‘The terrifying glory of God.’

The concert scheduled for November 26 at the National Theatre is a mixture of music and drama. It features comedians Clemento Suarez, Fuasta Romanus, and other comedians, including some gospel musicians.

Nacee narrates how he learnt English as a JHS certificate holder https://www.adomonline.com/nacee-narrates-how-he-learnt-english-as-a-jhs-certificate-holder/ Sun, 02 Jul 2023 12:36:50 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2267126 Gospel sensation Nana Osei, known also as Nacee, has narrated how he learned the English language since he did not continue his education after Junior High School (JHS), at which stage he could not speak the language.

After completing JHS at Gomoa Ogua in the Bono East Region, he moved to stay with a relative in Accra, specifically at Dansoman, which he said was an elite-dominated area.

Unfortunately, he was the only person who was unable to speak English among all the children within the community, and could not continue to senior high school due to financial challenges.

He said, “When they’re talking, I just look at their faces. I had a friend also called Nana Osei who helped translate into Twi for me to understand, so I didn’t feel very intimidated because of him.”

However, becoming a born again Christian changed the narrative because he gradually learned the British language by listening to recorded sermons of his pastor, as he was the one in charge of that.

The pastor preached in English and always interpreted in the Akan language. Talented and determined as he was, he grabbed the opportunity by consistently play and listen to them each time he worked on the videos.

“During those times, we do one service, then the numbers are kind of huge, so they do preaching and interpretation. I’m the one that will record the cassette and take it home, duplicate it, and bring it back to the church a week after.

“So, when I’m duplicating the cassette, I’ll be playing it from beginning to the end. I hear the pastor preach in English and translate in Twi. That’s how I learned my English,” he narrated to Roselyn Felli on Prime Morning.

He never continued his education, although he developed an interest in enrolling in music school, which he never got the chance to do due to family issues.

Nacee is now fluent in English and is currently one of the best gospel musicians in Ghana with numerous hit songs, including the current most talked about gospel song, ‘Aseda,’ ‘Efata Wo,’ ‘Yewo Nyame A Yewo Adze,’ and Mpaebo (Prayer),’ among others.

Due to his shortcomings in education, he has urged the government to pay attention to schools in deprived communities and provide them with equal tuition like their counterparts in urban areas to enable all children to acquire the same knowledge and skills.

While he was out of school, he never stayed idle at home. He helped people record their songs since that has been his passion growing up.

Replying to the question of whether he knew he would be a musician one day, he said, “I knew from day one because I used to stage my own concert in the village and I took corn as the gate fee. After taking them, I pack them into a sack, sell them, and give them to my auntie.”

The multi-talented Nacee further revealed that he learned how to play instruments by watching what others did and practising afterwards. “If I see you playing, I’ll just watch you once or twice. If you’re not there the next time, I’ll find my way there and start practising myself.”

Though he is a gospel musician, he said his biggest break in music was a secular song, ‘Sekina,’ by Highlife music duo Antwi ne Antwi.

How Nacee’s involvement in politics nearly strained his career https://www.adomonline.com/how-nacees-involvement-in-politics-nearly-strained-his-career/ Thu, 29 Jun 2023 09:56:53 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2266083 Award-winning Ghanaian gospel musician, Nana Osei, popularly known as Nacee, has spoken about how he was sidelined by some churches and pastors because he recorded songs for political parties and secular musicians.

Speaking in an interview on Joy Prime’s morning show on Wednesday, the musician mentioned that he was even tagged as an unbeliever by some pastors.

The musician, however, says he recorded these songs with the intention of inspiring and encouraging young people.

“You do a song for a political party, and other people say they don’t want to work with me anymore because they feel I belong to that political party, and so they don’t want to have any business with me. But it’s me getting an inspiration to do a song and encourage the youth out there, and some radio presenters sit on the radio and push the agenda that Nacee has fallen with the defence that I now sing secular music because of the ‘Boys Boys’ song.”

“It became an agenda, and some pastors said that it’s not good to call me to perform in their church; he’s an unbeliever,” he explained to Roselyn Felli.

This, he said, almost broke him down because he was exhibiting his God-given talent, and he began to blame God for everything that happened.

The ‘Efata Wo’ songwriter further indicated that some musicians he helped build their studios even sold him out to those who wanted to due business with him.

That notwithstanding, Nacee said he does not blame any musician for their actions because he believes human beings are naturally created to be ungrateful.

However, after several thoughts and prayers, he decided to compose ‘Aseda’ [Thanksgiving] to appreciate God for making him sail through all the challenges he has faced throughout his music career.

But according to the minister, ‘Aseda’ was recorded in 2015, a year after the criticism and negativity started, but was not released owing to financial difficulties.

Asked if he has regretted ever releasing such secular songs, he said, “Years ago, if you asked me this question, I would say I’ve regretted, but today, not all.”

This is because he believes that life is full of ups and downs and that humans are prone to negativity and challenges, which strengthen one’s desire to strive to be successful in their endeavours.

Two months after the release of ‘Aseda’ in April, the song is currently the number one song in Africa with 3 million, 4 million, and 2 million views on Boomplay, Audiomack, and YouTube, respectively.

Nacee has also featured in some secular and political songs, including “Boys Boys” ft. Guru, “Baby You’re Fine” ft. Obour, and “Onaapo.”

He has worked with Samini and others.

My wife’s mother used to feed me, gift me money – Nacee reveals https://www.adomonline.com/my-wifes-mother-used-to-feed-me-gift-me-money-nacee-reveals/ Tue, 27 Jun 2023 14:45:26 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2265272 Every blossoming marriage has a unique and fascinating backstory filled with ups and downs that shape the couple’s journey before they eventually walk down the aisle.

The love story of renowned gospel singer, Nacee, is no exception. He revealed in a latest interview with Delay that he had to wait patiently for three years for his proposal to be accepted.

Narrating the genesis, Nacee said he found solace in his church at the time when his career was nonexistent and fortunately for him he fell in love with a chorister.

Initially, he said he was hesitant in making his intentions known because they were worlds apart- he was a church instrumentalist and his love interest, a tertiary student.

At that time, he revealed his wife’s mother was one of the few people who gave him financial assistance and free food every Sunday.

“I was sleeping on a veranda at that time. Her mother was one of the people who helped me in the church. I was broke and her mum sold meat pie so every Sunday, she gives me some and add money to it as well. It was later that I realized she has a beautiful daughter who was my love interest”.

According to Nacee, the disclosure gingered him to pursue his love interest, but unfortunately, she was hesitant because she was not certain of their future. It took three years for her to accept the proposal.

“She did not accept for quite a while; I lost hope along the line. I left her and chased someone else and also ended up breaking the person’s heart. After it did not work out, I went back to her and she finally accepted,” Nacee said while flashing a wide smile.

It’s been 21 years of knowing his wife and 17 years since they took the bold step of marriage.

Nacee and his wife have been blessed with three children; two boys and a girl.

My children were sacked from school over fees – Nacee weeps as he reveals hardship https://www.adomonline.com/my-children-were-sacked-from-school-over-fees-nacee-weeps-as-he-reveals-hardship/ Fri, 23 Jun 2023 14:02:25 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2263855 With a status of being one of the most renowned gospel musicians and sound engineers in Ghana, one may think Nacee’s financial life is a bed of roses, but that is far from his reality.

In a heartfelt revelation about his life beyond fame, Nacee, real name Nana Osei, candidly shared the toll that frustration had on him in the times when he was unable to fulfill his financial obligations.

In an interview on Okay FM, monitored by Adomonline.com, he revealed his situation had become dire to the point where he often found himself uncertain about his next meal and how he would provide for his family.

His financial constraint caused his children to be sacked from school over non-payment of fees, adding further strain to their already challenging situation.

“It got to a point in the industry I faced serious financial struggles. My children were sacked from school over fees. I had no one to rely on; no sibling or relative. Everything was just me. I tried my best and my wife also helped.”

Despite what seemed to be like a no-win situation, Nacee said he did not deter, confident of God’s assurance to feed his flock.

A breakthrough came in the form of his adoptive father whom he said was of immense help both financially and spiritually until his demise.

He was taken over with emotions while narrating that he never expected to get to such a low point in life.

This, he said, inspired his latest song, Aseda which is doing tremendously well on chart tables.

In an interview, Nacee said preparations for his concert stalled because he faced some financial setbacks which almost discouraged him.

But, his acquaintance Asamoah Gyan willingly supported him with $8,000, a gesture Nacee said he will forever appreciate.

The singer admitted that without the money, he did not know if he would have survived the storm.

“I don’t know if I could have survived that storm without you but I’m grateful God brought you into my life. You’re the best gift anyone could ever ask for. May God keep elevating you globally… I dedicate Aseda to you,” he wrote.

The Efata Wo composer said he looks forward to a meeting with the baller to properly show his apreciation.

In reaction, Asamoah Gyan said the public appreciation is enough validation of Nacee’s gratitude.

I wouldn’t mind training my lookalike – Nacee https://www.adomonline.com/i-wouldnt-mind-training-my-lookalike-nacee/ Thu, 20 Apr 2023 09:13:22 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2241270 Gospel musician Nacee has said that despite the backlash celebrity lookalikes have been receiving he would train his lookalike if they show interest in the music industry.

Speaking in an interview on JoyNews, he stated that he would be opened to teaching his lookalike what they need to be a good artiste and succeed in the industry.

Nacee told JoyNews’ Saminiwaa that “as for me, if I see my lookalike, I will invite him, give him water and everything to make him comfortable and if he happens to be a good singer and is interested in doing what I am doing, I will teach him for free.”

He added that “I would find a way and give you whatever support you need and I expect you to also accord me with that respect.”

This comes after the country witnessed an increase in celebrity lookalikes for artistes, especially Kuami Eugene, KiDi, Medikal, King Promise and others.

Some of them have since been seen performing songs by the actual musicians at events.

Many members of the general public have expressed concerns about the phenomenon with some calling for a seizure while others are calling on artistes to be cautious.

Reacting to the phenomenon, rapper Medikal advised the young men parading themselves as lookalikes of some celebrities to desist from doing so.

The rapper advised the young men to rather find their own source of income.

However, he would not appreciate it if his lookalike goes around using his name to perform his songs.

This, Nacee believes, undermines the years of work he has done.

“I will not be happy seeing my lookalike performing my songs on patches and somebody somewhere will think that I am the one and imagine the performance does not go as it is supposed to. I can even lose business from that. I will welcome you, train you, but for you to ride on my glory, that will be so wrong,” he cautioned.

But his success story was not without struggles.

Detailing his life journey in an emotional video for his new song, Aseda, Nacee said he toiled day and night to make ends meet and when things seemed to get better, the devil set bigger traps for him.

The claim was corroborated by photos of his humble beginnings he included in the video which has since garnered almost 1000 likes.

In his early days, Nacee owned a mini makeshift studio where he began his career as a sound engineer.

He also played instruments and led worship in his church as means of survival.

When things began getting rosy, Nacee said traps were set for him and the devil almost shattered all his plans.

But, a divine light shone on him and he had his breakthrough in the music industry with the group, ‘No Tribe’.

Nacee soon became a household name and he is credited for producing hit songs for top gospel musicians including Obaapa Christy.

His toils have paid off and he is now one of the most recognized gospel music producer in Ghana.

The song steadily garnering numbers on streaming platforms, was released by Magnus Muzic in collaboration with Michael Magnus Mensah Ministries.

Meanwhile, the gospel singer, born Michael Magnus Mensah describes Obeye Yie as a simple song that is easy to digest and designed to motivate listeners and music lovers to keep their heads up.

The Ghanaian music producer also made the song interesting by adding some live instruments to give more melodic tones to the song’s message.

Nonetheless, this will be the second time that Magnus will collaborate with Nacee. The two amazing songwriters collaborated in 2021 on ‘Bo Me Nantew’, a beautifully composed gospel song accompanied by scenic visuals that continues to garner numbers from fans.

The talented singer has received nominations in the Songwriter and Gospel New Artist of the Year categories at the Ghana National Gospel Music Awards.

With the gospel singer’s accomplishments over the past year, this year gives Magnus the perfect opportunity to expand his flock and strengthen his standing in the gospel music community and the music industry at large.

However, Michael Magnus Mensah is a Chartered Marketer by profession, and a worshipper by calling.

He was born to Rosina Hammond and the late Emmanuel Mensah and is the second of three children. Regarding his early education, Magnus had his secondary school education at West Africa Secondary School (WASS).

The spirited contemporary gospel singer attended Greenhill College, GIMPA for his Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing Certificate, Wisconsin University/University of Ghana for his MBA in Marketing and then attained his Post-graduate in Marketing Certificate from The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM, UK).

Nacee’s exit from ‘No Tribe’ affected me very much – Lord Bondzie https://www.adomonline.com/nacees-exit-from-no-tribe-affected-me-very-much-lord-bondzie/ Tue, 01 Mar 2022 09:55:40 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2085661 The leader of the gospel music group ‘No Tribe’ has expressed disappointment over the exit of musician Nacee from the group.

Lord Bondzie says their split affected him to a significant degree and left him disappointed because “I did not envision it, and it was not one that I foresaw coming.”

Speaking to Fifi Folson on Joy FM’s ‘The Reason is Jesus’ on Sunday, February 27, one half of the former duo explained that their split was, however, not due to financial reasons.

“Nacee wanted to do his own thing. It affected me much. If I say it did not affect me, then I am trying to be a liar because that means he’s a non-entity in my life but we were very close. The only thing we cannot share between ourselves is a wife,” he recounted.

Lord Bondzie, who is currently on a solo mission, stressed that their separation has equally affected the business side of his ministry.

According to him, other services Nacee provided are not available to him.

“One can chase a thousand and two will chase 10 thousands. I don’t have a studio, so, in one way or the other, I have to start from scratch, and it is not easy. It’s been a long time I spoke to Nacee; he’s doing his own thing, and I’m also busy doing something else.

“We are having a lot of songs, but we haven’t touched them. That is what I am saying, only God knows [when next I will record a song with him in his studio].”

He expressed his readiness for a comeback with Nacee should the latter agree to do that.

“Even today, if he calls and says, ‘I think I made a wrong move so let’s do something, who am I?” he queried.

According to him, it was a financial problem that caused him and his music partner, Lord Osei, to agree on parting ways so they could go solo in their careers.

There was no reason going solo with No Tribe. It was a financial problem, he told host IB on Joy Prime‘s Showbiz Now show.

According to Nacee, the group will relive if he gets sponsors who are willing to put them back on their feet.

Many have said the group is no more since Nacee is always in the news about his own projects and concert but the music producer says that is far from the truth.

According to Nacee, If I get money today, No Tribe will release an album in a month or two. I blame myself because in managing a group my understanding was different.

I think its my fault because I didn’t really manage the group well. Imagine you have a gig and advert and you guys share the money between yourselves so when it hit us there was nothing we could do.

According to him, there is no negativity when it comes to trolling one on social media because it rather makes him or her popular than unpopular.

Emelia Brobbey became a subject of trolls after she released visuals for her Fame Ko song which has garnered over 250k on YouTube.

Critics after accessing the song, placed her on the number one trends where she was mocked for making too much noise on the song than singing.

Live worship is not killing creativity – Nacee tells Omane Acheampong https://www.adomonline.com/live-worship-not-killing-creativity-nacee-tells-omane-acheampong/ Tue, 30 Jan 2018 15:38:39 +0000 http://35.232.176.128/ghana-news/?p=885371 Ghanaian gospel musician, Nacee has debunked assertions that live worship performances by gospel artistes diminish their creativity.
Many radio stations seem to have adopted the style of inviting gospel singers into their studios to lead their listeners in worship sessions.
But the ‘Zaphenath Panea” hitmaker speaking to Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz said more gospel artistes are following the trend in performing songs created by others, and not making an effort to create their own songs.

He added that the Gospel music industry will lack talented and spirit-filled musicians and writers like the Daughters of Glorious Jesus, Yaw Sarpong, Tagoe Sisters and himself.
But in an interview with Nacee on the Daybreak Hitz show, he rebutted the assertions of Omane Acheampong, saying he doesn’t believe live worship can affect the creativity or brand of a gospel artiste.
According to him, radio stations are always after contents that will easily generate revenue for their companies hence he cannot fathom how that would affect an artiste.
Buttressing his point, Nacee said: “content is not stagnant so it depends on the radio or TV station; if they want it [Live Worship] fine… If you think it is not your style, don’t go and waste or kill your brand…’ he told Andy Dosty.

He further advised members in the gospel guild to desist from unnecessary noise making whenever they engage in live worship shows on radio.
The astute gospel musician indicated that most of the gospel musicians shout on top of their voices rather than sing to entice their audience professionally.
Now, it has become like the order of the day as worship songs are all about shouting; we have made it like when you do that you are a true worshiper”, the ‘E be God’ hitmaker said.
He added that the image we have tamed for the live worship is becoming like if you shout, you are a good singer but that is not it. I have a soft voice and if I shout, I will lose my voice…’ he maintained.

I don’t write my songs – Nacee https://www.adomonline.com/dont-write-songs-nacee/ Fri, 05 May 2017 16:11:53 +0000 http://35.232.176.128/ghana-news/?p=104651 Musicians the world over have different stories to how they come by the songs they produce. While some claim they get their inspiration through dreams, others observe what happens around them and translate them into music.

Music producer and singer Nana Kwaku Osei aka Nacee has disclosed to citifmonline.com that he has never put pen to paper to write the lyrics of his songs.

“I have never written my songs before. The inspiration comes, I get the beat and I flow to it,” he said.

He said his latest smash hit song,’ ‘Boys Boys’ was not among the songs he had planned to produce. It happened that after producing the beat, the melodies for the chorus just came to mind and he started singing. He did not even take it serious until one of his studio apprentices urged him to develop into into a full song.

The singer who until recently was widely known as a gospel artiste has released a secular song ‘Boys Boys’ which has gained massive rotation on most radio stations across the nation.

The versatile musician also stated that he was not worried about people chastising him for his choice to add secular music to the gospel he has always been known for.

“I know what I am doing. My talent has no boundaries so I don’t get it when people try to limit me to only gospel. The issue is not about singing gospel but what matters is what impact you have with the song you do,” he noted.

The prolific music producer also hinted that he has some great collaborations with some top artistes on his forthcoming ‘Counsellor 2.’ He said the songs are hotter than ‘Boys Boys’ and when they are released will give music lovers a good treat.

Nacee is an astute music producer and singer who formed the No Tribe gospel music group. A the moment, he is actively pursuing his solo music career as he drifts from doing solely gospel to doing music that tackles varied themes.

Pastors talk about sex and love, why is it wrong to sing about them? – Nacee asks https://www.adomonline.com/pastors-talk-sex-love-wrong-sing-nacee-asks/ Wed, 19 Apr 2017 07:04:37 +0000 http://ghana-news.adomonline.com/new/?p=83571 Musician and music producer Nacee has called for an end to what he describes as the show of hypocrisy towards musicians who sing about sex and love.

He noted that if pastors are able to talk and write about sex and love, why should people judge musicians who sing about same.

Some people in the Christian fraternity and gospel music have for some time criticised secular music, especially those on the subject of sex and love.

They have even gone ahead to describe such songs as sinful.

While the issue is still a subject for public debate, Nacee, born Nana Osei, says he does not see anything wrong with singing about sex and love.

The man behind several gospel hit songs including, ‘Afunumu Ba’ and ‘Ayeyi Dyom’ supported his argument with a biblical quotation.

“Bible says God is love. When we sing about love, you are already mentioning God…,” he noted in an interview on Behind the Fame, a segment on Drive Time on Joy FM with Lexis Bill.

To him, the negative perception about songs on the subject of love and sex can only be changed through education.

“It’s all about education… we’ve been in so many churches talking about it. That it is not wrong [to sing about love] … what if I wrote a book about sex, would you accept that one? Bishop Dag Heward-Mills has a book about sex and I think Pastor Otabil has books about sex and love and stuffs like that so what about that one is it because that one is written so it’s okay for you to accept that one?” the producer quizzed.

Explaining why he wrote the ‘Me Ne Woa’ love song, Nacee explained that 60 percent of Ghana’s population can’t read or write. “So if we are trying to also communicate and also let other people get a part of what we are doing then I think I can also use another way to also touch other lives as well…”

As a famous musician and producer, Nacee revealed that he manages the numerous women who make advances at him very well.

To him, he hasn’t fallen for any of the women although several women constantly send him nude photos.

“When you do that I just block you,” he revealed.
