A lad, believed to be the son of the yet-to-be identified woman, was found hanging dead alongside.

Details of the incident is scary but eyewitnesses narrated they met the lifeless bodies of the young mother and her son in the early morning of Wednesday, January 2023.

“She could be in her early twenties whilst her son would be around four years. We don’t know where they come from and we don’t know any of their family members. They are still there on the ropes,” an eyewitness identified as Nana Yaw said.

The woman was hanging straight from a dryline rope while the young boy’s hands were tied before he was hanged.

Assembly member for Ajoa, Robert James Yankey, indicated that the woman was last seen at around 4:00pm the previous day begging for alms.

“Information I have gathered is that residents around the community saw the young lady begging for money with her son yesterday around 4:00pm. Nobody saw them again until this morning when we saw them dead in the uncompleted building. We do not know her in this community so we believe she came from somewhere else.”

The suspect, identified as Kwabena Ahi, reportedly battered his wife, Patience Armah, during a misunderstanding.

Eyewitnesses told Adom News’ Augustine Boah that the suspect is fond of beating his wife at the least provocation, but what triggered the recent abuse is still unknown.

A neighbour, Antwi Ofori, indicated that Kwabena beat his wife until she slumped and went unconscious.

Suspecting she could be dead, the suspect is said to have taken a poisonous substance believed to be weedicide to end his life and evade punishement.

However, he was saved by some residents who spotted him struggling and rushed him to the Juaboso Government Hospital for immediate treatment.

The police from Sehwi Bodi, who were called to the scene, have retrieved the wife’s body and deposited it at the hospital’s morgue.

The couple have two children, a four-year-old boy and a one-year-old girl.

Charles Soglo’s defence is that his wife, with whom he shares the same bed, has for some time refused to have sexual intercourse with him.

He confessed that on the fateful day, he was angered when his wife refused him again, and proceeded to shoot her.

The district Police commander of Adansi Fomena, C/Supt. Yaw told Adom News the suspect was overwhelmed with fear and as such, attempted to commit suicide.

He shot himself so vigorously that the bullet tore off two of his fingers before hitting his chest area.

Eyewitnesses alerted the police before transporting the victim to the New Edubiase Government Hospital where she is responding to treatment.

The suspect was also rushed to Saint Benito mini-hospital at Adansi Dompoase where he is receiving treatment under police guard.

The exhibit single barrel gun used in committing the crime has also been retrieved by the police.

The suspect will be arraigned before court to stand trial when treated and discharged.

The incident is said to have happened at Teshie Praso in the Asante Akyem South municipality, in the presence of the couple’s children.

Son of the deceased narrated to Adom News that his parents had an argument after his mother, Akua Adomah, attended a wake-keeping without seeking permission from Kwabena Ankomah.

This led to weeks-long tension, and a confrontation sparked an argument, leaving Mr Ankoma outraged enough to shoot her with his hand gun.

The lad further revealed that his father, in a hurried manner, packed out with them and they headed to their second home.

While there, he said they were gagged by their father, but the fear of being located and apprehended made him look for a different option.

The eldest son of the couple said his father pleaded with them to pull the trigger of the gun that was held and pointed to his father’s forehead.

After the children declined, the victim’s son said they rushed out of the house in fear, shortly before their father discharged the bullet into his head.

Committee member of Teshie Praso confirmed the children’s claims and added that the bodies of the couple have been deposited at the morgue.

Police have also been notified and an investigation has been opened into the case.
