Ghana secured qualification for the tournament, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico next summer. Both England-born players, who are of Ghanaian descent, are reportedly open to representing the four-time African champions.

Their potential inclusion has sparked debate, with some stakeholders, including Ghana Football Association president Kurt Okraku, insisting that players who previously turned down opportunities to play for the senior national team should not be considered for the global showpiece.

Foh-Amoaning, who is also a private legal practitioner, disagrees, arguing that the quality and depth the duo would bring outweighs past decisions and could significantly strengthen the squad.

“I will plead that we should forgive and do away with the motions when we are talking about Eddie Nketiah and Callum Hudson-Odoi,” he told Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show.

“The players we had in 2006 and 2010 cannot be compared with what we have today. That is why I am pleading that we include these two players in the Black Stars squad because of England.”

He pointed to Hudson-Odoi’s recent performances as evidence of his value. “I watched Hudson-Odoi against Tottenham, and I saw Kudus as well, and you could see the best player on the pitch was Hudson-Odoi. If we have him and Eddie Nketiah in this Black Stars team, it will be good for our country, and they will improve the team as well,” he added.

At the World Cup, Ghana have been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England and Croatia. The Black Stars will begin their campaign against Panama on June 17 in Toronto, face England in Boston on June 23, and conclude the group stage against Croatia in Philadelphia on June 27.

After group-stage exits at the 2014 and 2022 editions, Ghana will be aiming for a deeper run when the tournament kicks off in 2026.

Foh-Amoaning urges gov’t to take on anti-LGBTQ+ legislation as public bill https://www.adomonline.com/foh-amoaning-urges-govt-to-take-on-anti-lgbtq-legislation-as-public-bill/ Thu, 30 Oct 2025 07:19:09 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2594011 Lead advocate of the National Coalition for Proper Human Sexual Rights and Family Values, Moses Foh-Amoaning, says reintroducing the anti-LGBTQ+ bill as a public bill will address many of the challenges that have delayed its passage.

Speaking on JoyNews’ PM Express, Mr Foh-Amoaning explained that several legal and procedural hurdles associated with the bill stemmed from its status as a private member’s bill.

He argued that if the government takes ownership and reintroduces it as a public bill, most of those concerns — including cost implications — would be resolved.

“When the bill is introduced as a public bill, it will solve a lot of issues,” he said.

Mr Foh-Amoaning stressed that the bill was carefully thought through before its introduction, contrary to claims by critics that it seeks to criminalise people.

“This bill was not just brought out. We thought through it. The LGBT movement and its propaganda have always been that, ‘Oh, you want to throw people in prison.’ We say no. You think it’s a lifestyle and you want to glamorise it, that’s fine. But we over here think that people who’ve got those challenges, if they have those challenges, we help them,” he stated.

He noted that the bill even makes provision for care and rehabilitation.

“So in the bill, we said that if you need care, treatment and support, or even during arrest, sentencing, or trial, even when you’re in prison and you agree that you need help, then you will be given. The law allows for flexible sentencing,” he explained.

However, Mr Foh-Amoaning revealed that cost concerns became a major sticking point during the drafting stage.

“The issue of cost became an issue because they said, if you use the health facilities, who’s going to pay? Although the drafting language was clear, the former Attorney General objected to it because there was going to be costs,” he said.

According to him, that concern ties directly into President Akufo-Addo’s earlier position that the bill could best be handled if it were introduced as a public bill.

“For me, that’s what made the President’s viewpoint — that it has to come as a public bill — very interesting. And I’m still insisting that now that it is going to be reintroduced, if the government doesn’t have any problem, I wish the President will go back to his own view,” he noted.

Mr Foh-Amoaning disclosed that he had already engaged the Attorney General on the matter.

“I have had discussions with the Attorney General. He was keen on discussing it with the private members who want to bring it so that they will withdraw their private members’ bill, and then he will bring it as a public bill. I think it will resolve a lot of these issues that I have raised,” he concluded.

Moses Foh-Amoaning praises GFA boss Kurt Okraku after Black Stars’ World Cup qualification https://www.adomonline.com/moses-foh-amoaning-praises-gfa-boss-kurt-okraku-after-black-stars-world-cup-qualification/ Tue, 14 Oct 2025 11:53:18 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2588306 Renowned legal practitioner Moses Foh-Amoaning has commended Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku for his steadfast support of Black Stars coach Otto Addo, following Ghana’s qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The Black Stars secured their fifth World Cup appearance on Sunday with a 1-0 victory over Comoros at the Accra Sports Stadium.

This achievement comes in the wake of a disappointing campaign for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), where Ghana finished bottom of their group with just three points from six matches.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show, Foh-Amoaning emphasized that Okraku’s decision to retain Addo despite the AFCON setback was instrumental in the team’s turnaround.

“Otto Addo almost got sacked after he failed to qualify Ghana for the AFCON. The reason I believe that the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the president, Kurt Okraku, must be praised for this World Cup qualification because he was under pressure to sack Otto Addo, but a lot of changes were made,” he said.

He added that strategic additions to the technical team, including experienced German coach Winfried Schäfer, a new assistant coach, and a video analyst, strengthened the backroom staff, making it harder to justify Addo’s dismissal.

“The FA brought in Winfried Schäfer, and I don’t know if there is any person who is more of an upgrade than Schäfer. An assistant coach was brought in alongside a video analyst, all to improve the technical team and at this stage, it will be difficult to sack Otto Addo. I believe we have to talk to him so he can improve the way he gets the players to play his tactics,” Foh-Amoaning added.

Addo has now made history as the first coach to lead the Black Stars to back-to-back World Cup qualifications, having previously guided the team to the 2022 tournament in Qatar. Ghana will learn its group stage opponents on December 5.

It will be difficult to sack Otto Addo – Moses Foh-Amoaning  https://www.adomonline.com/it-will-be-difficult-to-sack-otto-addo-moses-foh-amoaning/ Tue, 14 Oct 2025 11:24:33 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2588285 A member of the 2014 Dzamefe Commission of Inquiry, Moses Foh-Amoaning, believes it will be difficult for the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to dismiss Black Stars head coach Otto Addo despite the growing calls for his removal.

The 49-year-old tactician came under intense criticism after Ghana failed to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). However, he has since guided the national team to secure a place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, finishing top of Group I with 25 points.

While some fans and pundits have questioned the team’s inconsistent performances, with Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Adams also expressing reservations about Addo’s work, Foh-Amoaning insists that the coach’s recent success makes his dismissal unlikely.

Speaking to Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show, the legal practitioner revealed that Otto Addo was close to losing his job after the AFCON disappointment, but credited the GFA and its president, Kurt Okraku, for choosing to strengthen the technical team instead of sacking him.

Foh-Amoaning noted that the addition of Winfried Schäfer, an experienced German coach, along with a new assistant and a video analyst, has significantly boosted the backroom staff and made it harder to justify Addo’s dismissal.

“The FA brought in Winfried Schäfer, and I don’t know if there is any person who is more of an upgrade than Schäfer. An assistant coach was brought in alongside a video analyst, all to improve the technical team and at this stage, it will be difficult to sack Otto Addo. I believe we have to talk to him so he can improve the way he gets the players to play his tactics,” he added.

Otto Addo was reappointed as Black Stars head coach in March 2024 on a three-year contract with an option for a two-year extension. The Black Stars are expected to discover their World Cup group opponents on December 5.

Foh-Amoaning backs Asante Kotoko to edge Golden Kick in FA Cup final https://www.adomonline.com/foh-amoaning-backs-asante-kotoko-to-edge-golden-kick-in-fa-cup-final/ Thu, 12 Jun 2025 11:20:34 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2544037 Renowned legal practitioner Moses Foh-Amoaning has backed Asante Kotoko to triumph over Golden Kick in the 2024/25 FA Cup final, though he anticipates a closely contested encounter.

The Porcupine Warriors are set to face the lower-tier side on Sunday at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium, with kick-off slated for 17:00 GMT.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show, Foh-Amoaning acknowledged Kotoko’s pedigree but warned that Golden Kick should not be underestimated.

“Asante Kotoko has the advantage, but it will be a tough game for them. I have watched Golden Kick, and they are a good side, and so I believe it will be a tough game for them,” he said.

The former Ghana Boxing Authority president also expressed hope that Kotoko will seize the moment to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season.

“It will be a good game, and I hope that Kotoko will take up this opportunity to build a good team,” he added.

The winner of Sunday’s final will secure a spot in next season’s CAF Confederation Cup, representing Ghana on the continental stage.

Anti- LGBTQI+ Bill: We’re ready for you in court – Prof Gadzekpo told https://www.adomonline.com/anti-lgbtqi-bill-were-ready-for-you-in-court-prof-gadzekpo-told/ Fri, 01 Mar 2024 06:27:50 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2363496 The Executive Secretary of the National Coalition for Proper Human Sexual Rights and Family Values, Moses Foh-Amoaning has expressed readiness to meet Prof Audrey Gadzekpo in ocurt over the anti-LGBTQI+ bill.

The legal practitioner has said the court will be provided with all the facts on why the Bill is important which will be thoroughly examined.

This according to him will leave no room for opponents to preach propaganda on the basis of human right.

“They say they are going to court, the law school is very close to Supreme Court, and we are waiting for Audrey Gadzekpo. In the Supreme Court, she won’t get the opportunity to preach propaganda, the court will examine the evidence, we will present graphic evidence, we will demonstrate the sexual activities they engage in.

“So, Audrey, get ready, we are going to expose all these things, don’t think you are coming to court to talk about human rights, civil rights, no. In the court of law, we will prove the facts and the court will see what you are doing to Ghanaian children,” he stated in an interview on Accra-based 3FM.

Professor Gadzepko, who is the Board Chair for the Centre for Democratic Development (CDD) Ghana among others have vowed to seek redress in the Supreme Court if President Akufo-Addo assents the Bill into law.

Following the passage of the Bill by Parliament on Wednesday, they have argued the current state violates human rights.

If assented to by the President, the bill will impose sanctions on willful promotion and engagement in LGBTQ activities in the country.

The bill prescribes a minimum sentence of six months and a maximum of three years for individuals caught in the act of same-sex activities.

Despite the opposing views, lawyer Foh-Amoaning has said the bill is a step in the right direction.

“Once a society decides that this sort of behaviour is something we don’t like and therefore we are criminalizing it, you cannot promote it.

“Otherwise, you will be committing a crime, you are abetting, you are preparing, you are assisting, all of which are offences under the law,” he added.

I forgive you – NPP MP tells Foh-Amoaning https://www.adomonline.com/i-forgive-you-npp-mp-tells-foh-amoaning/ Wed, 20 Dec 2023 21:30:13 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2335089 Member of Parliament(MP) for the Asante Akim Central, Kwame Anyimadu-Antwi, says he has forgiven lawyer Moses Foh-Amoaning over his comments against him over the  anti-LGBTQI Bill.

Foh-Amoaning who is the Executive Secretary of the National Coalition of Proper Human Sexual Rights and Family Values (NCPHSRFV) criticised the MP over the delayed passage of the Bill.

The lawyer asserted that, there was a deliberate attempt by Mr Antwi-Anyimadu who is the Chairman of the Constitutional, Legal, and Parliamentary Affairs Committee to delay the Bill.

Reacting to the backlash, the MP stated he will not fault the legal prcatitioner.

This according to the Chairman is because he[Foh-Amoaning] is not a parliamentarian, hence not privy to what is accounting for the delay.

“He has every right to say that but he doesn’t know what is happening so I forgive him. I have not made any pronouncement that suggest I’m against this Bill but the challenge we are facing is just due to the lack of patience. He is not in our meetings so doesn’t know what is going on,” he said on Accra-based Okay FM.

Mr Anyimadu-Antwi further cautioned against politicising the Bill, stressing it will be difficult to reach a consensus.

Meanwhile, Foh-Amoaning has charged the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), which campaigned with the slogan ‘The battle is the Lord’s’ to lead the charge in championing the passage of the Bill.

He also called on political party leaders, including flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia (NPP), John Dramani Mahama and independent candidate, Alan Kyerematen to publicly declare their positions on the LGBTQ+ Bill.

After ending the 2020/21 Ghana football season trophyless, the management of the team has changed the technical handlers of the team.

Mariano Barreto, who signed a one and half year deal with the club, was shown the exit after just six months in charge.

Prosper Narteh Ogum has been awarded a two-year deal as the new head coach of the club.

The club signed over 25 players before the start of the 2021/22 football season.

However, the renowned lawyer believes the current team looks promising and will perform wonders if they are kept together for the next three years.

Asante Kotoko will only get a stabilised team if they keep this current squad for three or more years, and invest in them, they will do wonders,” Foh-Amoaning told Kumasi-based Nhyira FM.

“That will also help the club to be able to transfer the players for bigger fees in the future,” he added.

Asante Kotoko have started the current season impressively, recording two wins in the first two games of the season.

The Porcupine Warriors currently sit on top of the league with six points and will be hosted at the Dun’s Park in the matchday 3 games.

Moses Foh-Amoaning reveals how Ghana can win 2021 Afcon https://www.adomonline.com/moses-foh-amoaning-reveals-how-ghana-can-win-2021-afcon/ Mon, 23 Aug 2021 19:20:59 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2004777 Moses Foh-Amoaning believes Ghana can only win the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations [Afcon] with the right attitude, preparation and right players.

Ghana will head into next year’s Afcon with the aim of ending the country’s 39 years Afcon trophy drought in Cameroon.

The West African country, who are four times Afcon champions, have been paired alongside Morocco, Gabon and Comoros in Group C.

However, Mr Foh-Amoaning, who is a football enthusiast, believes the Black Stars need good players with the right attitude and good preparation to annex the trophy.

“If we select the right players, good preparation and with the right mental attitude of our boys, Ghana can win the Afcon,” he added.

Ghana last won the Afcon trophy in 1982. The Black Stars have come close in 1992, 2010 and 2015 but have failed to win the ultimate.

CK Akonnor, who replaced Kwasi Appiah on a two-year deal, has been tasked to end the country’s Afcon trophyless jinx.

Group calls for closure of LGBTQI office in Ghana https://www.adomonline.com/group-calls-for-closure-of-lgbtqi-office-in-ghana/ Mon, 15 Feb 2021 21:00:38 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=1920372 The National Coalition for Proper Human Sexual Rights and Family Values has expressed disapproval over an alleged opening of an office by the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual Transgender and queer Intersex Rights (LGBTQI) movement in Ghana.

The Coalition said the alleged existence of the office was illegal and an affront to the laws, traditions and customs of the country and must be shut down.

The Executive Secretary of the Coalition, Moses Foh-Amoaning, at a press conference, said the act was disrespecting to Ghanaians and undermined the sovereignty of the State.

He explained that Ghana as a country had not signed any international laws permitting the promotion of LGBTQI in the country, therefore, any attempt by anyone to promote the activities of the group amounted to illegality.

Mr Foh-Amoaning noted that on the contrary, international laws such as the Economic, Cultural, Social and Political Rights of the United Nations treaty, which the country had ratified, protected the sovereignty of Ghana to defend its cultural values.

He accused the international community in Ghana of promoting an act which he said was alien to the customs and traditions of Ghanaians and infringed on the sovereignty of the state.

Mr Foh-Amoaning called on the Inspector General of Police and other security agencies to swiftly move in to close down the said office and also arrest and prosecute persons found to have breached the laws of the state.

He appealed to Parliament to quickly move and pass comprehensive legislation to deal effectively with the issue.

“We call on all state agencies including Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), the Ghana AIDS Commission, the police, politicians and the media to take all steps to protect our nation from the negative impact of this LGBTQI,” he said.

Most Reverend Philip K. Naameh, President of the Catholic Bishops Conference, described the LGBTQI agenda as a “complete disorder of the fundamental law of God in creating man and woman.

“The LGBTQI is a clear departure from God’s purpose of creation because the woman was not created to be an object of pleasure for another woman,” he said adding that the Catholic as a Church would only continue to recongnise marriages between a man and a woman to ensure that God’s purpose of creation materialised.

A representative from the Christian Council of Ghana, the Reverend Godwin Amuzu, urged Ghanaians to remain resolute in maintaining the culture and sanctity of the State as believers in God.

The Reverend Johnny Apeakorang, who represented the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Churches, said the Association would continue to render its support to the Coalition to ensure that its goal was achieved.

The Coalition for Proper Human Sexual Rights and Family Values is an amalgamation of Christian and Para-Christian bodies, Muslims, Non-Religious entities, Traditional rulers and opinion leaders in Ghana.

The Coalition aims at ensuring the preservation of indigenous African traditional and cultural sexual rights and family values.

It has been a strong advocate against the LGBTQI movement in Ghana since its inauguration in December 2013.

Duncan fits more as Black Stars head coach – Foh-Amoaning https://www.adomonline.com/duncan-fits-more-as-black-stars-head-coach-foh-amoaning/ Thu, 08 Oct 2020 14:59:59 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=1864352 Senior Law Lecturer at the Ghana of School of Law, Moses Foh-Amoaning, says David Duncan fits more as head coach of the senior national team, Black Stars.

Mr Duncan, who is assistant to Head Coach Charles Akonnnor, has become one of the most experienced technical heads in the country and has handled most of the big clubs in Ghana including Accra Hearts of Oak, Asante Kotoko and Ashantigold.

With this expertise, Mr Duncan is deemed as an all-round tactician who can handle the national team.

“I am happy he has David Duncan with him. He is all rounded as he understands the technical aspect of the game and he has played too,” he told Nhyira FM.
