After ending a 90-year wait by clinching the Belgian league title, Union secured automatic entry into Europe’s premier club competition.

“This is like one of my dreams come true,” Fuseini told Flashscore.

“Even though I’ve played in the Champions League before, it was just in the qualification stage. And me getting to play in the real Champions League— that means a lot to me.”

The 22-year-old striker is eagerly anticipating facing some of the biggest names in football.

“I’m looking forward to playing against big teams like Real Madrid, PSG, Liverpool, and other big clubs. It will be a great experience for me.”

Despite Union’s status as a smaller club relative to European powerhouses, Fuseini remains optimistic about their chances.

“I think we should be able to go past the group phase because we have a good squad and a good coach. I think everything is possible.”

Under the guidance of coach Sebastien Pocognoli, Fuseini has been influential this season, netting nine goals in 33 appearances as Union prepares for its Champions League debut on the big stage.

Mohammed Fuseini confident Black Stars will qualify for 2026 World Cup https://www.adomonline.com/mohammed-fuseini-confident-black-stars-will-qualify-for-2026-world-cup/ Tue, 08 Jul 2025 13:26:02 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2552762 Union Saint-Gilloise forward Mohammed Fuseini has expressed strong confidence in Ghana’s chances of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The Black Stars currently top Group I with 15 points, following back-to-back victories over Chad and Madagascar in the Matchday 5 and 6 qualifiers in March.

The team is set to reconvene in September for key fixtures against Chad and Mali, before concluding the campaign in October with matches against Comoros and the Central African Republic.

Fuseini, who recently made his debut for the senior national team during the Unity Cup clash with Trinidad and Tobago in London, is optimistic about Ghana’s qualification hopes.

“I think it’s possible because the coaches know what I can bring to the team. I just have to be ready, perform at my club, and take it from there,” he told Flashscore.

Despite his rapid rise, the 22-year-old winger remains focused on personal development.

“For me, I want to improve on a lot of things—staying injury-free and fit throughout the season. I also want to improve my goal-scoring abilities and my 1v1 skills,” he added.

Fuseini’s pace and potential continue to earn him recognition as one of Ghana’s brightest young talents, as the Black Stars push for a return to the global stage in 2026.
