Mr. Norgbey revealed that he engaged the protesters ahead of their planned demonstration and tried to intervene, but his plea fell on deaf ears.

“I spoke to them at China Mall, where they had gathered, advising them not to cross the motorway or take any drastic actions. I urged them to go home, relax, and wait to see the good work of John Mahama.

“I can say with certainty that we condemn these actions. They should not have taken their frustrations to the chairman’s office,” he said while addressing the media in Parliament.

Acknowledging the frustrations of his constituents, Mr. Norgbey, however, stated that their actions were unacceptable, stressing that, “What is wrong is wrong. They shouldn’t have done that.”

The MP confirmed that calm has been restored in Ashaiman, adding, “Everything is calm now. The constituents understand the situation and our explanation.

“We must all join hands and support President Mahama’s efforts to reset Ghana.”

Some NDC supporters on Thursday took to the streets to protest what they described as marginalization, despite their unwavering support for the party since 1992.

The irate youth stormed the office of constituency chairman Shaddad Umar Jallo, burning tires and shattering glass doors to express their displeasure.
