The National Democratic Congress(NDC) Deputy Director of Elections and IT, Mahdi Jibril made the call on Adom FM Dwaso Nsem, stating Mr Ocquaye was fighting a losing battle.

This comes in the wake of plans by the Electoral Commission(EC) to re-run the election in the Abokobi Women’s Development Centre polling station in the constituency.

According to Mahdi Jibril, there is nothing that can turn the election in favour of the NPP, expressing confidence that the NDC will win no matter what.

“The NDC’s candidate is already leading with 165 votes but there is one outstanding polling.

“In a wide vision, the NPP will not understand because they want to fight a losing battle. Mike Ocquaye Jnr must understand that will not win and could have saved the nation money and maintain peace,” he stated.

With the EC yet to set a date for the election, Mr Jabril has expressed hope that the NPP and its candidate, Muke Ocquaye will concede defeat and withdraw.

He expressed hope that all Ghanaians would come together and vote for Dr. Bawumia to lead the country through its growth and development.

“We [Dome-Kwabenya] know the NDC. We don’t forget, and we don’t have short memories. We know that when it comes to policies, the NPP has a better record.

However, at the end of the day, he emerged victorious and a force to be reckoned with.

“My campaign is different; it is submarine. We are on the ground listening to the people to know what their needs are so we can serve them accordingly. I am an area boy and engaged the people on a deeper level,” he stated.

NPP primaries: I’ll invite delegates for super lunch – Mike Ocquaye Jnr https://www.adomonline.com/npp-primaries-ill-invite-delegates-for-super-lunch-mike-ocquaye-jnr/ Sat, 27 Jan 2024 14:50:43 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2347903 An aspirant in the Dome Kwabenya Constituency, Mike Ocquaye Jnr., has expressed no interest in inducing delegates or buying votes to secure victory in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary primaries.

In an interview with JoyNews’ Samuel Mbura on Saturday, January 27, he said the election process has been free and fair devoid of vote buying.

According to him, he is only providing canopies and chairs for delegates, and has not added lunch or transport.

“Election is ending at 2 pm so if by the Grace of God, I win, I will invite all the delegates to come to my house for super lunch and bubra. Even when I lost the last time, I gave them fufu and bubra so imagine when I win,” he said.

He was hopeful the delegates will vote in his favour since he has been there for them in the absence of the sitting MP, Sarah Adwoa Safo.

He added that whether the delegates vote in his favour or not, he still values them, as they are the ones who make the party thrive.

Asked whether he was optimistic of victory since the sitting MP, Sarah Adwoa Safo surpassed him with an eight vote margin in the last election, he said: “By then I was in India while she was in Ghana, but now I am in Ghana and she was in America so we will see what happens.”

This is the third time Mr Ocquaye Jnr. is contesting against Adwoa Safo for the seat with the latter winning in two previous polls.
