Blackson invested $1 million in a school project, depending on euro bonds that initially promised a 10% interest rate to sustain the project’s operations.

However, he was later informed that due to national debt issues, his returns would be reduced to just 1.95%.

Following his social media outcry about the situation, Blackson said his assistant reported receiving threats.

Blackson expressed his disappointment at the circumstances, highlighting his deep connection to Ghana and his desire to contribute positively to the country.

“My assistant in Ghana called me yesterday and said he was getting threats because of my tweets. Let me get this straight, I decide to come home because of the love and passion I have for home but I get robbed and since I don’t have the power to fight back I decided to tell the world my problem and now they threaten my people. Smh,” he tweeted.

Despite the backlash and threats, he is not backing down in saying his truth about his experiences even if he steps on toes.

Despite acknowledging his comments might have unintentionally portrayed Ghana negatively, Michael Blackson clarified that he did not intend to hold the country responsible for his financial loss.

He reiterated his admiration for Ghana and its people, while committing to continue addressing the issues he has encountered.

According to him, he is quite unsettled throwing his weight behind him because there are other options that must be looked at.

Mr. Blackson explained that, he sees nothing wrong with Cheddar giving his shot at it because there are people who believe in him.

“I kept seeing the posts in town, and we all found out that he is running. He feels like it, and I know Ghana wants the best for Ghana. We know what is going on, and we know what Ghana needs…” he said in an interview with Hitz FM’s Doreen Avio.

However, Mr. Blackson said there is a margin who still wants ex-President and flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Dramani Mahama back in power and others who also want to retain the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to correct their mistakes.

However, the comedian said he will choose and support his candidate when the time is right.

According to him, no woman who cannot cook Ghana Jollof, will make the cut.

Speaking to Doreen Avio at his school’s 1st-anniversary celebrations in Agona Nsaba in the Central Region, Michael Blackson said one requirement to win him over is with original Ghana Jollof.

“Jollof test. You have to cook jollof and I have to taste it and it has to be great. I hang out with a lot of Nigerians, Sierra Leoneans and even Chinese with fried rice. If my wife cannot represent my country with the perfect Ghana jollof, I can’t marry you.”

He added a humorous touch by saying that he was almost close to marrying his housekeeper because she cooked one of the best Jollof dishes he had ever tasted.

“I’m so close to marrying my housekeeper. She cooked some jollof the other day. It is part of the best jollof I have had in a very long time.”

And he had an even more hilarious counsel for married men; “If your woman can’t cook jollof the right way, leave her now, pack your bags, move, take the children and get out of there.“

The Michael Blackson Academy was established to offer accessible education, completely free of charge, to children in area.

The academy provides classes from kindergarten to primary 3, ensuring not only free admission but also free uniforms upon enrollment.

The school’s primary goal is to make quality education accessible to all, irrespective of financial constraints.

“This is my biggest accomplishment and best feeling. I don’t care how many movies I have done and whatever TV shows, giving back to my community is the best thing for me,” he expressed.

Michael Blackson expressed his deep emotional connection to the school and the children enrolled.

“Those are my children, and I love them,” he said as he reaffirmed his commitment to expand the academy to provide free education to more children in the region.

The actor also expressed his gratitude to the community for their support throughout the school’s inaugural year.

The comedian in an interview said that the country only has four international artistes despite the huge pool of musicians.

Taking to Twitter, Fuse ODG stated that such comments only embarrass the country and music industry when the comedian should be educating people instead.

He noted that personally, he had introduced Michael Blackson to many talented artistes in Ghana, hence his statements were uncalled for.

“Mike…I don’t know how you go on @Drinkchamps and say there are only 4 artistes in Ghana. Not cool bro. I’ve personally introduced u to a lot of GH artists in GH! smh. Stop embarrassing us on these platforms…you’re supposed to educate them,” Fuse ODG wrote.

This comes after Michael Blackson named Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy, Sarkodie, and Black Sherif as the only superstars from Ghana.

He made this comment in an interview on the Drink Champs podcast hosted by N.O.R.E. & DJ EFN.

According to him, these four superstars mentioned are the only ones that Ghana has when it comes to international representation as compared to Nigerians who have a host of artistes who are major and well-known across the world.

However, many Ghanaians took exception to his statements with some mentioning some other acts that have had international recognition over the years.

He acknowledged some of these artistes including Fuse ODG. The comedian also noted that he did not know Camidoh was Ghanaian when one Twitter user drew his attention to the young artiste.

He made this comment in an interview on the Drink Champs podcast hosted by N.O.R.E. & DJ EFN.

“Nigeria has all the stars. Nigeria is like the New York of music in Africa and Ghana is like the Dubai of Africa I can only count about four superstars in Ghana. We have Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy, Sarkodie, and Black Sherif.”

Michael Blackson added that he wants to make Gambo the fifth star from Ghana.

“I want to make Gambo the fifth star and that’s why I signed him.”

Gambo is a well-known entrepreneur and the CEO of BlackMob, an organization founded to provide young people with a platform to showcase their abilities in modeling, studio work, rapping, and other forms of entertainment throughout Ghana, Tanzania, the United States of America, and other countries.

He was allowed to speak about his upcoming single titled ‘Cut Soap’ which features Goya Menor and drops in March.

The Ghanaian rapper also presented some gifts to the hosts of the show showing his appreciation.

Gambo won the ‘Unsung Category’ at last year’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards and has songs like ‘Girls Girls’, No Stress and Kuacha to his credit.

Taking to Twitter, he shared a video of two adorable elderly women who he identified as his mum and some ladies from his village, Agona Nsaba.

The video captured a striking resemblance between mother and son.

Their smiles, lips and broad face were clear evidence they are related.

Mr Blackson appeared lost as he stood by his mum who engaged another lady in a conversation in Fante about plans to enrol some kids in the Michael Blackson Academy.

The caption that came with his video indeed gave him out he had no understanding of the conversation as he begged fans and followers who understand Fante for interpretation.

Mr Blackson in the past weeks has earned the admiration of many following the construction and commissioning of the Michael Blackson Academy at Nsaba in the Central Region.

In a post on Twitter, he noted that he does not believe it is the right time to do so.

“Ghana I appreciate this but not right now, I don’t even know all the 16 regions of Ghana, lol,” Mr Blackson wrote after sharing a screenshot from a fan.

The comedian added that he officially became an American citizen not long ago, thus, would like to enjoy that for a while.

This is because he would have to give up his other citizenship if he intends to stand for any political position in Ghana.

This is not the first time Mr Blackson has been urged to run for President in Ghana. 

In 2022, the comedian stated that he would consider running for President in at least 12 years.

According to him, he would contemplate becoming a head of state at that time because he believes the people would need his help.

He noted that government needs to lower taxes and fees paid at ports so importers can sell their goods at cheaper prices to consumers.

“C’mon Ghana why are things so damn expensive? I just tried to buy furniture and appliances and they are over twice the price of what they cost me in the U.S. I love my continent but we have to do better to help our people,” he wrote.

The comedian added that, “I found out the other day that little girls in the remote areas can’t afford tampons or pads so they drop out of school because they are embarrassed to bleed around boys… smh.”

He also added that despite the call for a reduction of fees at ports, importation needs to be minimised.

He believes the country has too many resources to be importing goods.

Meanwhile, the comedian turned actor is hoping to project the country through film. In an earlier interview, he revealed that he would be shooting some films in Ghana.

He explained that this could help not only project the country but also build support and investments for the movie industry.

“I decided this summer that I will shoot a project here. It would be a comedy series, something I could sell to Netflix and Amazon.

“Ghana has so much beauty that I want the world to see. I want us to eventually be a place where people come to shoot a big movie,” Mr Blackson said.

The actor is also hoping to inaugurate his school in September.

In an earlier tweet he called on qualified people to apply for the position of principal in his school located at Nsaba near Swedro in the Central Region.

This school, he noted, is his way of giving back to his society.

This was to familiarise with Mr Kufuor who he described as one of the greatest presidents of Ghana.

Some 22 years ago when Michael was in Ghana for the first time, he was privileged to have witnessed the inauguration of President Kufuor for his first tenure of office.

For his next return, the comedian said it is prudent he meets His Excellency to get his blessings on his mission for Ghana.

In what was a shocking development, Mr Kufuor recognised Michael and mentioned his background as an American comedian.

The duo had a brief chit-chat in Mr Kufuor’s office before posing for the cameras.

The delegation included the CEO of Ghana Export Promotion Authority, Dr Afua Asabea Asare, executives from the Ghana International Chamber of Commerce (GHICC), and the Ghana Council of Georgia members.

The delegation, after their tour, held a meeting with Elon D. Johnson, Senior Creative Executive of Production and Development at the Tyler Perry Studios.

This meeting encouraged Tyler Perry Studios to consider Ghana as an ideal location for its production hub in Africa.

The delegation from Ghana addressed the great talents and opportunities in Ghana’s creative arts industry and called for Tyler Perry Studios to come to invest in Ghana.

Before this, movie actor and comedian Michael Blackson stated in an exclusive interview with Doreen Avio that he would get investors and some of his colleagues in Hollywood, including Tyler Perry, to invest in the Ghana movie industry.

On the heels of that, he tweeted on February 16: “Hey @tylerperry, let’s go half on a film studio in Ghana, I’ll get the land, and you build the studio.”

“I ran into a few film commissioners that were here last week. We talked about how we need a big film studio here, so I will reach out to my big boys like Tyler Perry to see if he would be interested in extending something over here,” Michael Blackson said on Let’s Talk Showbiz.

According to him, the industry needs funds and other things, including a film studio, to flourish; adding that, he would like Ghana to be a spot for filmmakers worldwide to visit and shoot their projects.

According to him, this is one of the first few steps he is taking to help elevate the Ghana movie industry.

Speaking to JoyNews’ Doreen Avio, he explained that he would like to showcase Ghana to the world through his plans.

He explained that this could help not only project the country but also build support and investments for the movie industry.

“I decided this summer that I will shoot a project here. It would be a comedic series, something I could sell to Netflix and Amazon.

“Ghana has so much beauty that I want the world to see. I want us to eventually be a place where people come to shoot a big movie,” Mr Blackson said in an interview with Doreen Avio.

He noted that to ensure the movie industry sees growth, he would interact with some of his colleagues, including Tyler Perry, to see if they would invest in Ghana’s film industry and build a film studio.

“I ran into a few film commissioners that were here last week. We talked about it how we need a big film studio here, so I am going to reach out to my big boys like Tyler Perry to see if he would be interested in extending something over here,” Mr Blackson said.

Meanwhile, he urged Ghanaian actors willing to be cast in a role for his movie to stay tuned on his Instagram page.

The comedian said he would update the page on when and how people can audition, among others.

“I am going to hire some people to be in the film and show them to the world,” he added.

Speaking to JoyNews’ Doreen Avio, he explained that he grew up poor and was sleeping in shelters among other places.

He stated that he worked hard to get to a place in life where he can impact the lives of others, especially children.

“When God blesses you, you have to bless others. I came from absolutely nothing. I remember being at Ashiaman where it’s like nothing. I was in Liberia for most of my time where people open the doors and let you stay in their homes. We lived in a shelter or home. I grew up from nothing, but I never forgot where I came from. I always put God first so this is giving back,” he said in an interview with Doreen Avio.

Mr Blackson added that he decided to cut down on unnecessary spending and save towards things that were worthy and important.

One of such things he said, is the school he is building. He also noted that the school would be free for all pupils. The students enrolling in the institution would not pay tuition fees.

“This is money that guys would go to the club in the states and spend. If you go to Vegas and pay for a section of a club it’s like $20,000. It could probably pay for half my teachers in a year’s time. I am cutting down on other things that weren’t necessary and putting that money towards something that is necessary,” he said.

The school, Mr Blackson said, is expected to begin operations in September 2022.

He revealed he has been in Ghana more often in the past year because he wants to keep an eye on the construction – mostly to ensure the school reopens as planned.

“In fact, I got a bigger construction company to take over the project. I have a timeline. It has to be done within six months because in September I want the kids to go to school,” Mr Blackson added.

Meanwhile, he has revealed that First Lady, Rebecca Akufo-Addo, has promised to be at the opening ceremony of the school.

According to him, the First Lady had told him during a meeting that she was proud of the work he was doing at Nsaba and excited about the opportunities the school presents to children in Nsaba.

He told Doreen Avio that “she (First Lady) was excited because a lot of times people do come to build schools, but there is a difference when it comes to building a school and making it free for the children.

“There is a difference because even though it is free for the kids, you pay for the teachers, this and that. She was very proud of me and she says she wants be there to cut the ribbon when the school opens.”

According to him, Ghanaian actors should expect an opportunity to be featured in his upcoming movie.

He has, therefore, asked interested actors to get in touch on his Instagram account.

“If you’re an actor, just keep up my IG, I am gonna hire a few people to be in a film of a few Ghanaians and showcase them to the world”, he said.

In an exclusive interview on ‘Joy News’, he disclosed that he intends to reach out to Tyler Perry to consider building a film studio in Ghana.

“I am gonna reach out to my big boss Tyler Perry and see if he will be interested in extending something over here but I think I am taking the step by filming something here and showing it so I am going to do that this summer”, he noted.

Mr. Blackson, who also serves as a comedian, mentioned he wants the world to get to know what the Ghanaian movie industry and the country as a whole have to offer.

“Ghana has so much beauty that I want the world to see, I want us to be like, eventually be a place where people come to shoot a big movie”, he stated.

“First thing I would like to do with the whole movie thing is to show, I would like to showcase my country to the world so I decided this summer I wanna shoot a project here. A community series, something I could sell to like Netflix or Amazon”, he added.

According to him, he has taken steps in making the initiative of building a movie studio in the country a reality.

“A few film commissioners were here last week and we talked about it, on how we need a big film studio. So, that’s a bigger step with a film studio that will take some time but trust me we gonna make it hard”, Mr. Blackson stated.

Appearing on The Breakfast Club Show in America, the Ghanaian-American proposed to his long-time lover, Rada, in what was a historic moment of the show.

Rada, while receiving the ring, exclaimed Bye side b——to which Michael replied, 90% of the side b—— bye bye.

Apparently, Mr Blackson meant it when he said he’s keeping 10% of the side chicks when asked by the host to decode the message.

Prior to their engagement, the couple had separated over his ‘womanising’ lifestyle, but he stated they’ve reached a compromise.

Rather than the three side chicks he entertained monthly, the lovers agreed he would keep one mistress per month.

“We negotiated. I’m cutting down on the side bitches from three a month to maybe one. We negotiated I’m allowed to have one chick a month. I realised that it’s just in me to live that life,” he said.

The open relationship and loyalty from Rada are what he said have kept him by her side for these past years, and forever more to go.

In an Instagram post making the announcement to fans who may have not watched the show, he stated:

“Meet the future Mrs Blackson. Ladies, men look for loyalty, regardless of what we put you through stay loyal to your man because we are fuck ups but we will eventually do the right thing. ‘Most of my haters call her a gold digger but believe me Rada has never asked for penny from me, she’s very independent and she’s actually the one that takes care of me plus I’m allowed a side chick a month. Lol,” he affirmed.

According to him, having stayed in the country for months, he has realised that houses on sale had prices that were higher than those being sold in Atlanta, a populous city in the U.S.A. state of Georgia.

In a series of tweets, Michael Blackson compared the two continents, adding that African leaders must pay heed to the needs of their citizens who pay taxes than spend on themselves.

The actor said he couldn’t comprehend why affordable houses being built by the government weren’t affordable for the average citizen.

I’m so confused with what’s going on in West Africa; if the average income is $100-$200 a month, why aren’t there affordable homes with mortgages ranging from $25-$50 a month?

What we need most is Education, HealthCare, Jobs and affordable housing for the less fortunate. To be a leader of any country you have to be selfless, you have to care about the women and kids on the streets begging for money as if they are your family. #FixAfrica

As much as I hate taxes I think our continent needs a tax system so that money can help the less fortunate. Too many things are wrong in my continent and we all need to come together and fix this, he demanded.

According to him, the movie production in Ghana is not the best.

The comedian plans to create an opportunity for actors and fashion designers to highlight their skills.

He shared an experience of seeing some Ghanaian productions some time back and how terrible they looked.

“The production looked terrible and I’m like we need better television, I think that has got better you know , like I’m okay where the entertainers at”, he said.

Speaking to JoyNews, the ‘Coming 2 America’ Star revealed his plans of taking his character in the movie and making a whole movie out of it, adding Ghana needs to be known by the world.

“I already talked to a guy here about it, I want to come back and take that character from ‘Coming 2 America’ and make a movie and I want to shoot in Ghana. Let’s put Ghana on the map, let’s get our actors some jobs, let’s get them known to the world,” he stressed.

Mr Blackson also hinted at building a multi-purpose facility where different talents can go to learn skills for their chosen careers.

“Ghanaians are so talented, you know we have to get out of us, you know people don’t know where to go. The actors don’t know where to get acting class, models don’t know where to find where they can become models and its so crazy.

“I was speaking with my assistant and talked about some kind of something to accommodate actors and fashion designers and that’s my ultimate.

He said the world knows him now and he feels he could open doors for others to see what Ghana has in stock.

Some Nigerian musicians have traveled to Ghana to enjoy the peace and serenity as well as foster economic relations and investments.

The latest to join the trend are musician ZLatan Ibile and American-based Ghanaian-Liberian actor and comedian Michael Blackson.

This follows the exit of Davido who was in the country on Saturday for a four-day tour, involving a studio session with Stonebwoy.

Davido, after his experience, took to his social media platforms to express his love for Ghana, after receiving a warm reception from fans and celebrities.

Zlatan and Blackson, who also touched down in the country yesterday, are currently enjoying the company of rapper Sarkodie.

The pair are recording a banger for their fans as the December season approaches.
