The project is expected to serve as a center for prayer retreats, spiritual renewal, and recreation for members of the Methodist Guild and the larger Christian community upon completion.

The 10-million-project sited on a 4-acre land will feature a three-storey-multipurpose building with a hostel.

A foundation stone has been laid for the construction of the edifice.

Immediate past Chaplain of the Guild and now Bishop of Sefwi Bekwai, Rt. Rev. John Kwasi Baidoo, highlighted the project’s importance to the church.

He appealed to individuals, societies, and dioceses within the Methodist church to contribute towards the completion of the building.

“We’ve reached a stage where we need help from the Connectional Methodist Church and individual donors. Anyone who has cement, iron rods, gravels, or sand is encouraged to come to our aid so that this project will be completed once and for all,” he said.

The Methodist Guild held its 19th Biennial and 30th Delegates Conference in Kumasi drawing members from the societies and dioceses across the country for a spiritual encounter.

Speaking on the sidelines of the conference, the clergy expressed distraught and concerned over the spate of moral decadence witnessed among the youth and teenagers in the second-cycle level of education.

Commenting on the recent alleged sexual misconduct in some schools, the Bishop of Kumasi North Diocese of the Methodist Church, Rt. Rev. Samson Obeng Agyei, attributed the issue to moral decay in society.

He cited parental neglect and reluctant support from religious bodies to instill moral uprightness and discipline in the younger generation.

“The sexual immorality being reported in some schools is unfortunate. Parents and the church must work together to train children in a way that pleases God,” he stated.

The bishop urged members of the Church to continue promoting unity, discipleship, and moral uprightness within the church and society.

“We encourage mission schools to open their doors to ministers and religious groups to help prepare the young ones for the future,” he noted.

The theme for the conference emphasized the importance of grounding one’s faith in scripture, encouraging members to read, reflect, and live by the Word of God in their daily lives.

EC has a lot to do before the election – Methodist Bishop https://www.adomonline.com/ec-has-a-lot-to-do-before-the-election-methodist-bishop/ Thu, 19 Sep 2024 18:35:53 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2451134 The Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church of Ghana, Most Rev. Dr Paul Kwabena Boafo, says the Electoral Commission has significant responsibilities ahead of the December 7 elections considering the numerous issues of concern that have emerged so far.

He urged the EC to be more transparent and address the concerns raised.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) carried out a nationwide demonstration on Tuesday, September 17, in protest of the EC’s refusal to allow a forensic audit of the voter’s register.

The party believes that a forensic audit is crucial for ensuring a fair and credible electoral process and addressing public concerns about the accuracy of the voter’s register.

Speaking on JoyNews‘ AM Show, Dr Boafo said, “With the issues at stake, we would not say it is enough; that is why, in the statement, we asked if they could also open up and address these issues. We are not saying that everything is done and finished, and so we should just leave it as it is, no.”

Dr Boafo noted that, the grievances are not only from the NDC but also include concerns from other parties like the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He stated that, addressing these issues is crucial so that, ultimately, everyone can agree that the voter’s register is trustworthy and will lead to an orderly election.

“Looking at all of these, it is not just the NDC; the Alan group might also have their challenge, and the NPP might also have their challenge. All of these are sent to the EC to address. So that, at the end of the day, we can all say that we have a credible register that can lead us to a peaceful election.”

Fight galamsey with dialogue not brutal force- Gov’t told    https://www.adomonline.com/fight-galamsey-dialogue-not-brutal-force-govt-told/ Mon, 17 Apr 2017 17:42:58 +0000 http://ghana-news.adomonline.com/new/?p=81021

The Methodist Church of Ghana is urging government to consider using dialogue in fighting illegal mining menace popularly known as ‘galamsey’ instead of applying force which can lead to loss of lives.

Administrative Bishop of Methodist Church, Rt. Rev. Dr. Paul K. Boafo fears applying brutal force will complicate the existing issue.

His comment comes in the wake of government’s ultimatum on galamsey after his sermon at the St. Paul Methodist Cathedral in Tema which touched on the need for transformation as Christ has resurrected.

“Christ’s resurrection is meant to bring new life which is devoid of negative attitudes including destroying the environment”, he said.

The message was well received as he sees the pulpit as means of changing people’s negative lifestyle.

He said it is through destruction of the environment that has led to declaration of war on galamsey in the country

Rt. Rev. Dr. Paul K. Boafo however asked government to approach the issue of galamsey with dialogue which involves all stakeholders instead of the use of force.

Meanwhile, Rt. Rev. Dr. Paul K. Boafo says it is the duty of man to protect the environment and therefore urged Ghanaians to eschew any attitude that endangers the environment.

It is the wish of the church that galamsey soon becomes a thing of the past.
