Speaking during Day Three of the 2025 Greater Works Conference at the ICGC Christ Temple East in Teshie, Pastor Otabil expressed grief over the sudden loss of the victims, including ministers of state, government officials, and military personnel, who he said had set out simply to perform their national duties.

“This morning, some very important Ghanaians lost their lives,” Pastor Otabil said.

“They woke up just to do their work, to go through their duty… but they went and sadly lost their lives. Today, there is crying and weeping in many homes.”

He led a solemn moment of intercession, calling on the congregation to pray for the wives, children, parents, and siblings of those who perished.

He stated that while the loss was a national tragedy, some families would bear the emotional scars for a lifetime.

“We pray for the peace of their families, pray for the comfort of the Holy Spirit,” he said.

“This tragedy will be their story for so many years. And we pray that the God of all comfort would rest upon these homes.”

The crash, which occurred in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region, claimed the lives of key public servants, including Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah and Environment Minister Dr. Alhaji Ibrahim Murtala Mohamme, NDC Vice-Chair Samuel Sarpong, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator Muniru Mohammed, and former MP Samuel Aboagye.

The Ghana Air Force personnel crew members who perished were Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Mane-Twum Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.

Mannaseh Azure sends strong message over Mensah Otabil https://www.adomonline.com/mannaseh-azure-sends-strong-message-over-mensah-otabil/ Sat, 08 May 2021 14:56:07 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=1956808 Investigative journalist, Manasseh Azure Awuni, has cautioned he cannot be forced to react to issues concerning the General Overseer of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), Mensa Otabil.

According to him, the man of God is like a father who he will not disrespect in anyway.

He made the remarks on Adom TV’s Nnaw)twe yi show as he details reasons he never commented on the Capital Bank collapse saga.

“In journalism, there are two things; the news and opinions but sometimes when the news is presented, you can give opinions. When Otabil’s issue came, the news was reported and there was no opinions likewise the lighthouse stories .

“When the DKM, Duffuor, Kofi Amoabeng and the other banks collapsed, nobody called me to comment so why were they mounting pressure and condemning me for not saying anything?” he queried.

“I want to put on record that I will never come out to give any opinion. There are people in our lives that you don’t go out to attack them after the story has been told because of the relationship you have with them,” he warned.

Going further on the importance of building and maintaining relationships, he noted that he still has a good relationship with the Chief Executive Officer of the Multimedia Group, Kwesi Twum, who calls to check up on him.

In view of this, he will never come out to offer opinions if such people are being attcaked in the future over an incident.

“I don’t want such people to be disappointed in me because they didn’t expect certain comments from me. If you cannot defend them, the best thing is to keep quiet so I didn’t find calls to speak about Otabil a wise thing to do,” he stated.

HOT AUDIO: Otabil attacks Ghanaian journalists, says they are "mediocre" https://www.adomonline.com/otabil-attacks-ghanaian-journalists-says-mediocre/ https://www.adomonline.com/otabil-attacks-ghanaian-journalists-says-mediocre/#comments Sun, 04 Mar 2018 16:36:55 +0000 http://35.232.176.128/ghana-news/?p=980351 Pastor Mensa Otabil has said the media in Ghana are so “depressing” and full of “mediocrity” – a situation, he said, compels him to prefer watching foreign TV channels that show documentaries about animals rather than wasting his time listening to local radio or watching local TV stations.
Listen to the man of God

The founder of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC) told his congregation on Sunday, 4 March during the church’s 34th anniversary service that rather than focusing on discussing and finding solutions to the numerous problems confronting the country, Ghanaian media choose to wallow in ceaseless political discussions all-year round.

“ … If you listen to our national conversations, you wonder: are we serious? We eat and drink politics.
“Turn on radio; here [Ghana], there is no political vacation. From the time the vote is cast to the time the next vote is cast, we argue politics morning, afternoon, evening.
“Check all your top radio talk shows, take politics out and they have nothing to talk about again. I won’t even say take politics out, take NPP and NDC out – just say this morning, no NPP, no NDC, there’ll be no conversation because we can’t even think beyond two parties, we can’t think any ideas, we can’t think solutions and we are driving ourselves into this abyss of hopelessness,” Pastor Otabil bemoaned.

He said to avoid polluting himself with the content churned out by local media, he hardly pays attention to them.
“I don’t listen to Ghanaian radio much, I will listen maybe for 15 minutes and shut off because it’s very depressing. It will contaminate your soul.
“I don’t watch Ghanaian TV much. I watch a little – one, two, three – and I say: ‘Oh, nothing has changed, go back’.
“I will watch animals, I’ll watch cheetah, I’ll watch lion, I’ll watch antelope anytime, I’ll watch cheetahs anytime, I’ll watch giraffes anytime because, at least, they’ll tell me how to hunt, how to get your goal, how to avoid being eaten. I’ll learn that from the antelope. At least, I’d come back and say: ‘Nobody will eat me’. But you [listen to] Ghanaian radio, watch Ghanaian TV and you wonder: ‘are we still here; the mediocrity?’”

In Dr Otabil’s opinion, the quality of Ghanaian media has sunk to the lowest standard and still sinking.
“The excellence that we used to have is all gone down. Instead of raising the bar higher, we’ve lowered it and lowered it and every time we lower it lower and lower and lower and lower and we have huge problems.
“I don’t mind if Americans don’t talk about serious things, they have solved part of their problems. I don’t mind if Germans decide to joke with their destiny and the British decide to joke, but we have no choice – what kind of joke – because we are in a huge mess,” he observed.

Sonnie Badu defends pastor Mensah Otabil https://www.adomonline.com/sonnie-badu-defends-pastor-mensah-otabil/ https://www.adomonline.com/sonnie-badu-defends-pastor-mensah-otabil/#comments Thu, 03 Aug 2017 12:40:12 +0000 http://35.232.176.128/ghana-news/?p=358921 Gospel artiste, Sonnie Badu has come to the defence of Pastor Mensah Otabel over several arguments that ensued as a matter of the ‘special seed sowing’ the International Central Gospel Church(ICGC)’s “Greater Works” program.
According to Sonnie Badu, it is imperative for Ghanaian youth to respect men of God and not subject them to insults like they did the whole of last week adding that respecting men of God is a recipe for success as individuals.
In a post on Instagram, the award winning artiste said;
“I am not an ICGC member and I have not been told to do this by anyone but I would like to share my thoughts on this. Dr MENSAH Otabil was not referring to all prophets. Firstly, As we all know, there are false prophets who have caused confusion in families and robbed them of many things.
Secondly, with the issue that seems to be trending there are a few things to consider.
1) those carrying and spreading the news were not actually present at the meeting.
2) they did not hear the word that was preached. 3) they did not see anyone being forced to bring their money.
The staple of our Christian walk and also of the church is FAITH. For all we know, those who went up could have been doing so as an act and demonstration of their faith. Therefore, According to their faith, so shall it be done unto them even as a double portion.
I plead with the youth of Ghana let us learn to Honor and respect men of God if we want to succeed.. Dr Otabil is respected throughout the world , let us also do so .. pastor Mathew carries a unique anointing that yields blessings so when he challenged them to exercise their faith, it is completely biblical.
Elijah told a widow to bring all she had and God rewarded her faith and obedience. As stated previously, I am not an ICGC member but I still stand for respect and honour when due.
I can not be quiet about this issue. These men of God should not be disrespected…”
