At the Kpando Sports Stadium, Heart of Lions’ impressive unbeaten home record was brought to an end by Aduana FC, who edged the contest 1–0. A second-half strike from Patrick Mensah proved decisive as the two-time champions claimed all three points.

Hearts of Oak finally halted their winless run with a narrow 1–0 victory over Nations FC at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium on Saturday. After a cagey first half, Hamza Issah found the breakthrough after the restart to secure a hard-fought win for the Phobians.

On Sunday, Basake Holy Stars were in fine form at home, brushing aside FC Samartex 2–0. Simba Sylvester struck twice in the first half to settle the encounter early.

Bechem United also returned to winning ways at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park, recording a 1–0 victory over relegation-threatened Eleven Wonders. With the game finely balanced at the break, Augustine Afranie Mensah calmly converted a second-half penalty to hand the hosts maximum points.

Berekum Chelsea followed suit at the Golden City Park, grinding out a 1–0 win against Hohoe United. After a scoreless first half, Prince Anane’s 78th-minute effort sealed the victory for the home side.

At the Swedru Sports Stadium, Swedru All Blacks continued their resurgence with a convincing 2–0 triumph over Vision FC. Clement Tutu opened the scoring shortly before the interval, before David Ofori’s second-half own goal ensured a comfortable finish for the hosts.

Young Apostles delighted their home fans at the Wenchi Sports Stadium with a 2–1 win over Karela United. Ali Abdul Ganiwu put the hosts ahead in the 20th minute, but Felix Mortu restored parity before the break. Four minutes into the second half, Issah Nyaabila struck the winner to clinch the points.

At the Baba Yara Stadium, Asante Kotoko left it late against Dreams FC. Following a goalless first half, Kwame Opoku netted in the 80th minute to guide the Porcupine Warriors back to winning ways.

Hamza Issah scores as Hearts of Oak beat Nations FC to go third https://www.adomonline.com/hamza-issah-scores-as-hearts-of-oak-beat-nations-fc-to-go-third/ Sat, 13 Dec 2025 21:45:00 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2610078 Hearts of Oak climbed to third on the Ghana Premier League table after grinding out a narrow but vital victory over Nations FC at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.

The Phobians came into the encounter under pressure, having gone two matches without a win following defeats to lower-tier side True Life and fellow Premier League campaigners Karela United.

After a cagey first half ended goalless, Hamzah Issah, recently in the spotlight for off-field reasons, rose to the occasion by breaking the deadlock in the 70th minute, a decisive strike that proved enough to separate the two sides.

The hard-earned win lifts Hearts to 24 points, easing the pressure on head coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani and restoring some confidence within the squad.

Hearts of Oak will look to build on the result when they face a stern test away to league leaders Aduana FC at the Nana Agyemang Badu II Park in Dormaa in next weekend’s Matchday 15 fixture.

The Rainbow Club needed the points after suffering a painful defeat against their rivals, Asante Kotoko last weekend at the Baba Yara Stadium.

However, the Phobians took the lead early in the game when Ramzy Yussif found the net in the 16th minute, ending the first half with a 1-0 advantage.

Shortly after the break, Hamza Issah extended the lead in the 50th minute, showcasing Hearts’ dominance.

Berekum Chelsea managed to fight back as Emmanuel Sarpong scored in the 62nd minute to narrow the margin.

However, any hopes of a comeback were dashed when Kwabena Boateng sealed the victory in the 82nd minute, thanks to a well-placed assist from the standout player, Hamza Issah.

The victory lifts Hearts of Oak to 5th place on the league table with 22 points. The Phobians will look to build on this momentum when they face relegation-threatened Accra Lions on December 25.
