Irate Karaga NPP youth lock up DCE's office https://www.adomonline.com/irate-karaga-npp-youth-lock-dces-office/ Wed, 09 Aug 2017 18:58:12 +0000 http://35.232.176.128/ghana-news/?p=377511 Irate youth of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Karaga in the Northern region Wednesday morning took to the streets and rampaged through the District Assembly offices shutting down the office of the District Chief Executive.
The NPP accuse the DCE Alhassan Yabdoo and the constituency organizer of hoarding contracts and dividing the party.
According to the youth, the DCE is stashing contracts to the party organizer adding that Mr. Yabdoo is also refusing to recognize the authority of the constituency chairman who he claimed did not support his DCE bid.
Abdul Karim Alhassan, the party’s constituency research and elections officer explained that the youth took the action because of the discriminatory attitude of the DCE.
“The irate youth of the NPP took to the streets and incidentally they locked up the offices…apparently because of the discriminatory practices of the DCE and the constituency organizer.
“The DCE has been found not to be working with the constituency chairman and not to recognize him as such,” Mr. Karim Alhassan told Adom News’ Illiasu Abdul Rauf.
The Police, according to sources engaged the irate youth who promised to open the offices and allow the assembly members to work.
No person has yet been arrested by the police yet.

Kwesi Botchwey report under ‘lock and key’ – Koku https://www.adomonline.com/kwesi-botchwey-report-lock-key-koku/ Tue, 20 Jun 2017 17:12:03 +0000 http://35.232.176.128/ghana-news/?p=205161 Deputy General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in charge of operations, Koku Anyidoho has stated that the 455-page report on circumstances that led to the party’s disgraceful defeat in 2016 remains a classified document.

He has therefore cautioned the citizenry to be wary of media portals inviting readers into details of the Kwesi Botchwey report.

The 13-member Kwesi Botchwey Committee constituted and mandated to investigate what caused the embarrassing defeat of the NDC at the 2016 polls yesterday.

The team presented a 455-page report to the National Executive Council detailing the party’s shortfall hence defeat.

But according to Mr Anyidoho, the investigative team submitted only one copy of the final report to Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the General Secretary of the party hence media reports detailing the cause of NDC’s 2016 defeat with regards to the Kwesi Botchwey report should be overlooked.

“It’s just one copy. It’s very tight. The General Secretary has the document under lock and key. There is no way someone will have a scope. You should debunk all media headlines on the matter…” he said on Accra based Okay FM on Tuesday.

With the way forward, he disclosed the executives of the party will heed to the voices and recommendations from the grassroots participants right to the prime members of the NDC party.

“As executives we will listen to the recommendations from the ground level as expected since it basically entails their views…” he said.

When questioned if the NDC party is dead from the political atmosphere, Mr Anyidoho said as no man can live with his or her head cut off; the NDC party has its political heads intact to win political power from the opposition NPP in 2020.

“As there is no way alive with their head cut off then the NDC party isn’t dead because it has a head. If the Head of the party is cut off then the party is dead. We will look at the generalized issues to bring the party back to power. Daily guide has heard something from somewhere. The report has just come to us…” he explained.
