In an interview with the club’s media, Ayew spoke about the tough circumstances.

“It’s not easy to be at home and see that the fans are not happy, but I understand them,” he said.

“We give everything, they also give everything. We are all in this situation together. We cannot give them the wins and that is what people really expect. We are going to try to make them happy but we really need them. Without them, it’s going to be complicated.

“I know they are still here they are with us but in difficult times we need them more and I can assure them we are going to do everything in May Le Havre will still be in Ligue 1,” he added.

Le Havre will aim to bounce back when they face Stade Briochin in the French Cup before taking on Olympique Marseille.

The 33-year-old winger returns to the club after six months last season, signing a one-year deal that will keep him with Le Havre until the end of the campaign.

Ayew previously played in Ligue 1 with Olympique Marseille before leaving in 2015 for Swansea City.

His latest stint in France saw him make 19 appearances for Le Havre, scoring five goals and helping the club avoid relegation.

Le Havre, currently 14th in Ligue 1 after six matches, will benefit from Ayew’s vast experience in European football.

His career has included time in the English Premier League with Swansea City, West Ham United, and Nottingham Forest, as well as stints at Fenerbahçe in Turkey and Al Sadd in Qatar.

Although Ayew was part of Ghana’s squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), he has been absent from the Black Stars last three call-ups under coach, Otto Addo.

The 33-year-old striker netted the memorable goal against Lorient during a thrilling 3-3 draw in February.

Ayew not only scored two goals in that match, including a powerful header, but his acrobatic overhead kick stole the spotlight and secured a crucial point for Le Havre.

Ayew then went on to explain his side of the story, detailing the events leading up to the red card. “In terms of the game, in terms of the action, what I interpret is here he comes, there’s a ball in thirty-fifty-fifty that’s really being played between the two of them.

“He throws himself, he throws himself before me, I see him throw himself, he’s going to get the ball before me, I lift my foot, trying to hold it back and on the way to land I brush against his shin guard. And that’s it, that was the referee’s decision,” he added.

The 33-year-old is set to miss Le Havre’s next three games including Sunday’s big clash against PSG at the Stade Océane.

Ayew, who led the Black Satellites to clinch the FIFA U20 World Cup for the first time in African history will miss some games for Le Havre after picking a straight red card in the week 13 fixture.

Meanwhile, he will be hoping to bounce back stronger following a disastrous debut for Le Havre, who are counting on the experienced Ghana forward for survival.

The 33-year-old has been unattached since July after leaving Premier League side, Nottingham Forest after making 13 appearances.

The U-20 World Cup winner was presented to the Stade Oceane crowd ahead of Le Havre’s match against AS Monaco.

Andre made the return to France after leaving Olympique Marseille in 2015 to join Swansea City.

He is expected to add his wide range of experience to the team at Le Havre who currently sit sixth on the Ligue 1 table after 12 games played.

Ayew spent time in England before returning to France, playing for West Ham United, Swansea City, and most recently Nottingham Forest.

Between stints in the Premier League, the veteran attacking midfielder also played for Fenerbache in Turkey and Al Sadd in Qatar.

Ayew was recently named in Ghana’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Madagascar and Comoros this month.
