In a statement dated December 12, 2025, Deputy Judicial Secretary for the Northern Sector, Justice Frederick Tetteh, directed the Bono East Regional Administrative Officer to shut down the court “until further notice” on the instructions of the Chief Justice. The directive was described as urgent.

The closure follows an incident on Wednesday, December 10, when about 100 irate youths stormed the courtroom during proceedings. The mob reportedly vandalized furniture, fans, and other court property, assaulted officials, and forcibly freed two accused persons who were standing trial. The complainant in the case was also attacked.

The attackers later moved to the Kwame Danso District Police Headquarters, where they assaulted two officers and caused additional damage. Police reinforcements from the Atebubu Division and Formed Police Units were deployed to restore calm, which has since been achieved.

The Judicial Service has notified key stakeholders, including the Chief Justice, the Judicial Secretary, and supervising judges in the Bono East Region, as investigations and security assessments continue.
