Addressing the media at Abetifi, the Queen Mother recounted how she was picked up at Kwahu Abene in the Eastern Region and described the treatment she received while in police custody.

She corroborated earlier reports that the destooled chief, Eugene Kwasi Boadi Asante—who served under the stool name Daasebre Akuamoah Agyepong II—was behind the arrest.

“Kwasi Boadi’s driver wanted to take the car keys from me, but I refused. So they deflated the tyres of the vehicle to prevent us from moving out. They ransacked the vehicle, and I still don’t understand why.

“When we got to the palace junction, they told me they were calling the police officer who led the team for me to speak with because I needed to access the palace to take my drugs and keys, but he declined my request,” she narrated.

Nana Gyamfua III also disclosed that she was questioned about the Kwahuhene, and she confirmed that it is Daasebre Akuamoah Boateng III.

“They asked for his whereabouts, and I told them he was in Accra. Before I completed my statement, I saw Daasebre coming barefooted without his shirt,” she recalled.

Her account sparked heated exchanges among some of the chiefs present.

Amid the rising tension, Nana Kwasi Opoku Minta II called for calm, noting that the Inspector-General of Police has assured the chiefs that a full-scale investigation will be conducted.

He expressed hope that peace will prevail as authorities probe the matter, urging unity and patience as the process unfolds.

Police rescue Kwahu queen mother https://www.adomonline.com/police-rescue-kwahu-queen-mother/ Mon, 17 Nov 2025 12:30:37 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2600918 The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has directed the immediate release of the Queen Mother of Kwahu, Nana Adwoa Gyamfua III, following a dawn operation that led to her arrest.

In a statement, the Ghana Police Service said the IGP has also tasked the Police Professional Standards Bureau to investigate the circumstances surrounding the operation. The statement added that any officers found culpable will face sanctions.

The queen mother was arrested after heavily armed police personnel stormed her residence at the Abene palace amid indiscriminate gunfire around 4:30 a.m. on Monday, November 17, 2025.

Although the exact motive for the raid is still unclear, the Kwahu Paramount Chief, Daasebre Akuamoah Boateng III, disclosed that several individuals were taken into custody.

It was only after they had been transported from the palace that the absence of the queen mother was detected, raising concerns of a possible abduction.

Meanwhile, security has been strengthened in and around Kwahu to ensure the safety of residents and maintain calm in the area.

Whereabouts of Kwahu Queen Mother remains unknown – Linguist https://www.adomonline.com/whereabouts-of-kwahu-queen-mother-remains-unknown-linguist/ Mon, 17 Nov 2025 10:07:05 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2600827 Kwahu traditional authorities are on high alert following a dawn raid at the palace that has left the whereabouts of the Kwahu Queen Mother, Nana Adwoa Gyamfua III, unknown.

The linguist of Kwahumanhene, Obour Asabere, in an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, said that the situation remains tense, with no word yet from the police on the incident.

He revealed that the raid, reportedly led by former Kwahu chief Daasebre Akuamoah Boateng II, involved armed individuals, including landguards and police, and resulted in injuries to some palace guards.

Asabere explained that he personally has not gone to the palace, fearing arrest if spotted.

“I couldn’t go to the palace because personally, if they get me, I will be arrested,” he said, highlighting the precarious nature of the situation.

He also noted that although the former chief had been destooled over a year ago and had grievances regarding his removal, no one anticipated such a violent return. Authorities are still investigating why the former chief targeted the palace despite leaving nothing behind.

Mr. Asabere noted that the Paramount Chief, Daasebre Akuamoah Boateng III, was away in Accra when the incident happened but has made a quick return to Kwahu.
