Dr Danquah said the two cases were confirmed late last week, adding that multiple suspected cases had also been reported from various communities in the municipality.

She gave the assurance that the health teams were on high alert and stressed the need for intensive public education on cholera prevention, noting that proper hygiene practices and environmental sanitation were critical to preventing the spread of the disease.

“Cholera is primarily spread through contaminated water and food, so we need to educate our residents on maintaining personal and food hygiene, as well as proper disposal of waste,” she noted.

She said the Municipal Health Directorate was currently rolling out measures to contain the situation, including the distribution of chlorine for water treatment and public health campaigns in affected areas.

She said her outfit was working closely with the Kpone-Katamanso Municipal Assembly to manage the situation and prevent the spread of cholera in the area and across the entire municipality.

Dr Danquah called on the Assembly and community leaders to support health officials to ensure that residents adhered to health protocols and maintain good sanitation practices.

She advised residents to seek immediate medical care if they experienced symptoms such as severe diarrhoea or vomiting, which are common signs of cholera.

The Ghana Health Service(GHS) first announced the outbreak of cholera in the Ada East and the Ada West District on October 11, 2024, having recorded a total of nine cases.

According to him, the incumbent MP on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Joseph Akuerteh Tettey would even vote for him if permissible.

Mr Asante made these statements on Adom FM Dwaso Nsem, when asked by sit-in host, Abena Pokua Ahwenee the margin he is targeting on December 7.

“I am a mathematician by training and so I speak to data. The MP has followed and listened to me keenly. I know he can not publicly say it but sincerely if he will be truthful to him at the moment, he will vote for William Ofosu Asante,” he stated.

The candidate noted that he would not disclose his arsenals but is optimistic the ground looks fertile in his favour.

“We will see a sharp rise in the voter turnout and the NPP margin because when you meet Messi on the park, even though you know you are no match for him, you would have to play the ball because you are representing people,” he said.

Sebrepor residents resist construction of fuel station [Video] https://www.adomonline.com/sebrepor-residents-resist-construction-of-fuel-station-video/ Wed, 24 Jan 2024 22:02:12 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2346499 Residents of the Sebrepor in Kpone Katamanso Municipality of the Greater Accra region are resisting a move to construct of a fuel station in the community.

According to the residents, the location of the fuel station poses a risk to schools, houses, and businesses in the vicinity as it is situated a few metres away from the Base Ammunition Depot of Michel Camp.

The residents recalled a blast at the depot about four years ago, a situation they fear might be repeated in the event of an explosion at the fuel station if constructed.

At a press conference on January 24, the residents said in September 2023, they called the attention of relevant authorities to the potential dangers the station might pose, however, their cries have fallen on deaf ears.

An executive member of Sebrepor Zone 3 Landlords and Ladies Association, Charles Duben said “We are giving the authorities two weeks from today, if they don’t halt the project the residents association in this community is going to demonstrate against the government, the MCE, authorities, the Commanding Officer of Michel Camp, and the Commanding Officer of B.A.D because we have already written to them.

“So we are giving them two weeks. After two weeks, if we see anybody at that construction site the residents are going to mobilise and go against them. We will never allow anybody to come to the site and work,” he said.

The assembly member for the area, Prince Jacob Adzofour said it has been very frustrating getting the Kpone Kantamaso Municipal Assembly to act on their concerns.

“At a point in time, the complaint came that there is a filling station going on here. We took time to confirm that. We sent this complaint to the assembly with a report.

“At our very last general meeting before the year ended, this issue came up and we said the committee is against the citing of this station, therefore what they want is the thing to be temporarily halted until there is enough proof that they took permission from the appropriate authorities,” he said.

Jerry John Adjololo, the constituency youth organiser, said this while addressing a meeting of the various branch youth executives in the constituency.

Mr Adjorlolo explained that the 2020 campaign could be won by hard work, saying that branch youth executives, who work to ensure victory for the party, would not be forgotten.

According to the NDC Kpone Katamanso constituency youth organiser, the ruling New Patriotic Party had lost focus and lacked integrity to win the next general election.

Joseph Akweteh Tettey, Kpone Katamanso NDC Parliamentary candidate, assured the youth wing of a resounding victory for the NDC in the constituency.

According to him, his contender for the 2020 general election was no match for him, saying, “I will defeat him to teach him a lesson.”

Mr Tettey, who is popularly known as JOE T in the area, said young people were the engine of the party, hence they must work hard to recapture power from the ruling party.

He called on the party stewards to go out in their numbers and register for the new voter’s identity cards to enable them to vote massively for John Mahama.
