The actor appeared before the Dansoman Circuit Court on Monday, May 12, following his arrest by the Accra Central Police Command on Friday, May 9.

He was charged with defrauding under false pretences and was subsequently granted bail to the tune of ₵320,000 with three sureties.

According to police sources, the “Efiewura” TV series star allegedly received the funds from the California-based victim under the pretext of facilitating a legitimate investment opportunity.

However, he reportedly failed to fulfil the agreement and went into hiding.

The victim, whose identity remains undisclosed, lodged a complaint with the authorities after several failed attempts to retrieve the money.

Investigations revealed that Koo Fori not only defaulted on repayment but also ignored a summons to appear before the Dansoman District Court on April 17, 2025.

His failure to respond to the court’s order resulted in a bench warrant being issued for his arrest.

Martina Dwamena, popularly known as Asantewaa, crashed her platinum salon car barely a week after celebrating her birthday.

Though details of the accident are sketchy, videos of the scene captured Asantewaa in a distraught mode, taking videos of her damaged car.

The right side of her car, as well as the front area, received the impact of the crash.

After going silent for some hours, Asantewaa bounced back on social media to officially confirm the rumours, as she tasked her fans to thank God on her behalf.

The nurse disclosed that she, together with all the passengers on board are hale and hearty.

The party was to mark her 27th birthday on Tuesday, June 1, 2021.

In attendance were celebrities including her father, Koo Fori, comedian Warris among others who graced the occasion to make it a memorable one.

Koo Fori took over the microphone to pray for God’s blessings upon his daughter and wished her well in the years ahead.

Musicians KiDi and Medikal were also present to thrill the guests with spectacular performances.

The photos sighted on Instagram capture the marriage ceremony of the beautiful Asantewaa, and her husband, Jeffrey Obiri Boahen.

Asantewaa, born Martina Dwamena, is a nurse and Ghanaian TikTok star, tied the knot at 23.

Even though there is very little information about her husband’s work and family, the wedding photos captured the Deputy General Secretary, Nana Obiri Boahen in attendance.

Clad in a colourful Kente outfit, Nana Obiri Boahen joined the couple to pose for the camera as they cut their wedding cake.

Though it is not immediately clear if the NPP stalwart is Jeffrey’s father, the photo reveals that there a striking resemblance between them.

The photos which have gone viral have garnered massive reactions from fans and followers.

The photos have revealed the striking resemblance between the actor of the popular TV series, Efiewura and his children.

Though Mr Karikari has kept his family issues private from the media space, her daughter has been identified as Asantewaa, who happens to be a tiktok star.

However, much is not known about his son.

His daughter, Asantewaa, took to her Instagram page to share the adorable photos which have earned the family praises and expression of love from followers.

He recalled how after 8:pm, he retired to his bed while watching a programme. He said, suddenly the television went off.

He initially suspected lights out but when he peeped through his window, he realised his neighbours had light.

He said he made attempts to continue watching the programme in the hall since his bedroom television was failing to turn on, but he was greeted with a foul odour.

“I heard a different scent like smoke: I thought it was from the kitchen so I quickly run to check but it was not from that part. So I went back to the hall and the whole place was smoky with fire coming from the AC. For a second, I could not smell because the smoke was too much. I was scared to move out because of the fire that was spilling out from the AC,” he told Zionfelix.

Koo Fori disclosed that for a moment he was indecisive on whether to go to the bedroom or move out with his eyes closed and his hands covering his nose.

Finally, without seeing through the thick smoke, his legs led him to the main door and moments after he was out, he began coughing profusely.

The actor said with the little strength he had, he screamed for help until a neighbour rushed to his rescue.

A loud boom, boom, was all the rescuers who had increased in number heard before the entire hall was lit in flames.

He recounted how they all stood helpless as the windows were all locked, but one of his neighbors created an entrance with a concrete block he smashed the windows with.

There and them, Koo Fori added, the neighbours threw buckets of water in the hall until the fire died out before the Fire Service personnel arrived.

“Even before the fire service came I had lost everything in the hall, nothing was left; TV, sofa, everything was gone except for a freezer sitting in one corner of the hall. All my clothes, even I could not identify the colour of my bedsheets because they had turned black. My bathroom has white tiles, they all turned black,” he recounted.

That notwithstanding, Koo Fori said he consoles himself that life is worth more than vanity.

Though the cause of family is not known, a video online after the destruction saw property worth millions destroyed.

The roof of the once beautiful house has been reduced to ashes as witnesses help to salvage the remains.

The incident is said to have occurred on Sunday evening.

A man, believed to be a carpenter, was spotted in the house trying to salvage some parts of the ceiling.

According to the actor, his wife passed in 2010 after a C-Section over what he described as medical negligence in an undisclosed health facility.

Speaking in an interview on Accra-based radio station, he disclosed surgical tools were left in his wife’s stomach after the surgery.

He explained that the late Mrs Karikari for days suffered severe pains which eventually led to her death.

“For six days, my wife couldn’t go to the toilet coupled with a swelling stomach so she went back to the hospital where the C-Section was performed but because of the mistake the doctor made, he neglected her and that led to her death,” he narrated.

The actor says in spite of the the successful implementation of the Free Senior High School policy, there are a number of unfulfilled promises the party made while in opposition.

“It [FHS] hs been very loud out there and that is what is making people think they’ve done well. There are lots of promises I think should be executed by the end of the tenure… lets see how it goes,” he told Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz, monitored by Adomonline.com.

The NPP made a number of assurances in the round up to the 2016 general elections, including promises to provide free Senior High School education, one factory in every district and one dam in every village in the three regions of the north.

The government has already rolled out the Free SHS programme, which has already been rolled out whilst at least 173 factories are reportedly ready to be rolled out as well.

Political watchers have said the promises contributed significantly to their victory in the elections.

But rating the government’s delivery so far, Koo Fori, who has debunked rumours of being a card-bearing NDC member said: I will score them between 30-40 per cent out of 100; they made lots of promises and I’ve not seen even half of them accomplished.

When Andy asked if he thought the NPP would win again, Koo Fori answered: Ghanaians will decide if they will retain power. I am only talking for myself.

Especially with the roads, I heard this morning that the Vice [President] is declaring this year as year of roads which I think they are going to tackle, he added.

According to him, being the son of the reverend minister and a devoted Christian, stepping into the shoes of a drunkard on set was really difficult for him.

He told Andy Dosty on Hitz FM‘s Daybreak Hitz show, monitored by Adomonline.com that:

“I think the whole thing started in 2000. My mum cried bitterly the very first day she saw me on TV. She visited a church member who was ill and they were showing a drunkard on TV.

“They were discussing the character and when the camera zoomed in, it was her son,” he said.

When asked if she still abhors his movie craft, Koo Fori said, “she is an illiterate so it took her a long time to accept it but now she is claiming more fans than me.

Koo Fori gained prominence in the Ghanaian space when he played a round character in a local tele-series dubbed ‘Efiewura’.

His comic drunken-gestures wowed the audience who patronised the local show and he was one of the many characters to watch out for anytime the show took off.

Meanwhile, Koo Fori says his role hasn’t affected his business and affiliations because he doesn’t drink in real life.

“Now everyone knows there is no reality in it so it hasn’t affected me in anyway,” he added.
