In a reflective post on X following Dr Bawumia’s victory on Saturday, January 31, 2026, Mr Anyidoho revisited the early political journey of Professor Atta-Mills when he emerged on the national scene as Vice President under former President Jerry John Rawlings.

According to him, Atta-Mills’ discipline and humility were often misunderstood.

“Being loyal did not mean he did not have his own mettle,” Anyidoho wrote, adding that loyalty to a leader who elevates one to high office “is a divinely important thing to do because it comes with strong blessings.”

He noted that many observers misinterpreted Atta-Mills’ calm posture as weakness.

“People misconstrued the humility and loyalty to mean weakness — some labelled him a ‘poodle’,” he recalled.

Anyidoho said tensions also emerged within the NDC when Rawlings endorsed Atta-Mills to lead the party into the 2000 elections, with sections of the party unhappy with the choice.

“Some people within the NDC were obviously not happy… because they said he was an ‘outsider’,” he stated.

In his assessment, Atta-Mills’ defeat in that election was not rooted in voter rejection but in public perception.

“Candidate Atta-Mills lost that election, not because he was rejected, but because he was seen to be in the shadow of President Rawlings,” Anyidoho explained.

With time, he said, the former Vice President built his own political identity and earned the trust of Ghanaians.

“Professor Atta-Mills established his own identity, and Ghanaians warmed up to him; his message of ‘Asomdwe’, humility, love for God and country made it possible for Ghanaians to make him President,” he wrote, adding that Atta-Mills “lived beyond expectation.”

Drawing parallels with present developments, Anyidoho argued that Dr Bawumia’s political journey follows a similar trajectory.

“Does DMB’s story not follow the same script; picked by Nana Addo; becomes Vice; remains loyal to his boss; served in humility; endorsed by his boss to lead the NPP; considered to be an ‘outsider’; lost an election; his party elects him as leader again; now has his own identity?” he asked.

He suggested that, like Atta-Mills, Dr Bawumia is gradually stepping out of the shadow of incumbency and crafting a distinct political brand ahead of the next general elections.

Anyidoho concluded that Ghana’s political evolution often follows familiar rhythms.

“History has a very interesting way of repeating itself,” he noted, hinting that the unfolding Bawumia chapter may yet echo the calm, patient rise that once carried Atta-Mills to the presidency.

Koku Anyidoho hails late Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings’ legacy https://www.adomonline.com/koku-anyidoho-hails-late-nana-konadu-agyeman-rawlings-legacy/ Fri, 24 Oct 2025 12:53:40 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2592042 Former Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and CEO of the Atta-Mills Institute, Koku Anyidoho, has paid glowing tribute to the late former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, describing her as one of Ghana’s most impactful women in history.

Speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem following her passing, Mr. Anyidoho reflected on the remarkable legacy of the 31st December Women’s Movement, led by Nana Konadu, which he said transformed women’s lives across Ghana.

“Growing up in 1979 as a schoolboy in Burma Camp, I saw various forms of free education from the time of Nkrumah,” he said.

“But when you look at Madam, the 31st December Women, and what they brought to the base, the daycare centres at markets for women, the quality care given to children, it was massive. If they want to gather as the 31st December children for an event, it will be huge.”

He highlighted how the movement championed girl-child education, fought against female genital mutilation, and trained traditional birth attendants to improve maternal care.

According to him, “If we see the impressive strides females are making today, it is because a former First Lady pushed through the 31st December Women’s Movement.”

Mr. Anyidoho added that Nana Konadu’s local initiatives were as powerful as her international advocacy, including her influential role at the Beijing Conference on Women.

Reflecting on the timing of her death, he shared a personal note: “As I sat in the house on Thursday, I said, ‘God, now I understand why you made me eulogise Nana Konadu this year. Incidentally, she would have been 77 on November 17. I buried my daughter on that same date five years ago after she passed on November 7, and President Rawlings also died on November 12.”

He described her as Ghana’s longest-serving First Lady, noting that “unless history changes drastically, nobody can take that away from her.”

“31st December Women was an essential wing of the governance structure of the Rawlings regime,” he said. “She has been very impactful, and her legacy will continue to inspire generations of women.”

Nana Konadu passed on Thursday, October 23, at the Ridge Hospital after a short illness. She was 77 years old.

Koku Anyidoho reveals touching message he received from late Nana Konadu https://www.adomonline.com/koku-anyidoho-reveals-touching-message-he-received-from-late-nana-konadu/ Fri, 24 Oct 2025 12:06:54 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2592057 Former Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and CEO of the Atta-Mills Institute, Koku Anyidoho, has shared a heartfelt recollection of his last interaction with the late former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings.

Speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem following news of her passing, Mr. Anyidoho reflected on their close relationship, which blossomed after he became familiar with the late President Jerry John Rawlings.

He revealed that on International Women’s Day earlier this year, he wrote a tribute in honour of Nana Konadu, commending her for her leadership and advocacy for women’s empowerment, particularly her instrumental role in the Beijing Conference and the establishment of the 31st December Women’s Movement.

“The article was published across several news portals, and I sent her the link,” he recounted.

“Her message to me was, ‘Koku, God bless you for remembering me and the role I was able to play. It looks like some people have forgotten, but God bless you for remembering me and for remembering leaders who have served this country during your time. One day, people will remember and honour.’”

Mr. Anyidoho said those words have remained with him, especially now in the wake of her death.

“I extend my condolences to the bereaved family — the children, Zanetor, Asantewaa, Amina, and Kimathi — as well as the entire nation,” he expressed solemnly.

Recounting the moment he learned of her passing, he said, “Around 1:00 to 1:15 p.m. on Thursday, I got wind of the sad news. I was in the Ridge area, so I went to the 31st December Women’s Movement office, but no one was there. I then proceeded to the Rawlings’ office, where I met some people, and together we put a few things in place and later addressed the press.”

He said he will always remember Nana Konadu through the lens of the Women’s Day tribute he wrote in her honour, a piece that celebrated her lifelong commitment to empowering women and shaping national development.

Mr. Anyidoho concluded that the late former First Lady’s humility, resilience, and sense of duty would forever remain a guiding light for those she inspired.

The longest-serving former First Lady in the history of Ghana passed on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at the Ridge Hospital after a short illness.

Koku Anyidoho heads Christian Council committee to organise Ecumenical Convention https://www.adomonline.com/koku-anyidoho-heads-christian-council-committee-to-organise-ecumenical-convention/ Thu, 02 Oct 2025 07:38:05 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2584654 The Christian Council of Ghana (CCG) has inaugurated a seven-member committee tasked with organising the maiden Ecumenical Convention, scheduled for November 14 to 16, this year.

On the theme: “Uniting the Body of Christ for Greater Impact”, the convention aims to strengthen Christian unity across denominations within the country and the diaspora.

The event, slated to come on at the University of Ghana, will feature seminars, workshops, awards, health sessions, and the launch of a financial literacy and entrepreneurship programme.

Key objectives include empowering local church councils, promoting collaboration, enhancing leadership capacity, and building a unified Christian voice on national issues.

The convention will bring together members of the five pioneering churches — Methodist Church Ghana, the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, the Anglican Church, the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, and the African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Zion Church, alongside participants from other denominations, with the aim of fostering unity within the Christian community.

Committee

The committee, chaired by the Founder and Director of the Mills Institute, Koku Anyidoho, also has as members the Director of Programmes and Advocacy, CCG, Joyce Larko Steiner, the Coordinator of Interfaith and Ecumenical Relations, Rev. Jehoiada Godwin Amuzu, and the Senior Pastor, Christian Discipleship Ministry, Rev. Christian Kwaku Tsikata.

The rest are an Information Technology Officer at CCG, Stephen Osafo Amoateng, the Senior Pastor of KABOD Solid Foundation, Rev. Mark Quaye, and the Programmes Coordinator, CCG, Salome Kadi Tetteh, as the Secretary.

Launch

Speaking at the launch of the committee today (October 1), the General Secretary of the CCG, Rev. Cyril Fayose, emphasised the significance of the event in light of the council’s upcoming 96th anniversary, reaffirming CCG’s long-standing commitment to ecumenism and nation-building.

“This convention is a significant step in promoting unity at the grassroots level, especially through our local councils of churches. Inspired by Jesus’ prayer in John 17:11, ecumenism underscores the importance of dialogue, collaboration and mutual respect among Christian bodies.”

“The Christian Council of Ghana Ecumenical Convention is envisioned as a strategic platform to strengthen these relationships and pursue collective impact in Ghana and beyond.

He extended invitation to corporate entities, philanthropists, Christian business leaders, individuals and organisations to support the upcoming Ecumenical Convention through sponsorships, either in cash or in kind.

Success

For his part, the Vice-Chairman of the CCG, Rev. Enoch Thompson, who inaugurated and prayed for the committee, urged its members to work diligently and collaboratively to ensure the successful organisation of the 2025 Ecumenical Convention.

Acceptance

For his part, the Chairman of the committee expressed gratitude for the opportunity to lead the team overseeing the maiden Ecumenical Convention.

Mr Anyidoho stated that the convention would mark a new beginning as the Christian Council prepared for its centenary anniversary celebration.

Pledging full commitment on behalf of the committee, he affirmed their dedication to serving God and the country and to elevating the Council’s role in national development.

“It is an honour to be called upon to lead a group overseeing this maiden ecumenical convention. It’s not for church leaders or for the Christian Council to preach, it’s for sharing of ideas and to create that platform where it’s opening up for positive engagement.”

“On behalf of my colleagues, we are grateful and we pledge to work in the supreme interest of God and country and to bring glory to the Christian Council,” Mr Anyidoho said.

Visuals from the park revealed that the plaque of the statue, which had credited Koku Anyidoho as the donor, had been removed.

Before it was destroyed, the plaque displayed details about the late former president along with the inscription “Donated by Samuel Koku Anyidoho.”

While the plaque was found broken into pieces, the statue of Prof. Mills remained intact.

The individual responsible for removing the plaque remains unclear, but Asomdwee Park is state property, designated as the final resting place for deceased presidents of Ghana.

In a post shared on X on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, Koku Anyidoho took solace in his faith following the destruction of the plaque.

“This just happened @ Asomdwee Park. My Bible tells me that ‘In All Things’ (not in some things), I should give thanks to God. I am also singing… ‘It is well with my soul.’ To God be all the glory, and my prayer is for God to continue blessing my beloved homeland, Ghana,” he wrote.

I don’t want any appointment in John Mahama’s gov’t – Koku Anyidoho https://www.adomonline.com/i-dont-want-any-appointment-in-john-mahamas-govt-koku-anyidoho/ Sat, 28 Dec 2024 10:09:42 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2488255

Former Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and founder of the Atta Mills Institute, Samuel Koku Anyidoho, has ruled out the possibility of accepting any appointment in the incoming John Dramani Mahama administration.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on December 27, 2024, Koku Anyidoho emphasized that he does not require a government position to thrive, asserting that his mission to preserve the legacy of the late President John Evans Atta-Mills is fulfilling enough.

“Once again: I don’t want any appointment in John Mahama’s government. God will take care of me for as long as I keep the legacy of President Atta-Mills alive,” he wrote.

Following his defeat to Johnson Asiedu Nketia in the 2018 race for the NDC General Secretary role, Koku Anyidoho has frequently clashed with key figures in the party, including former President Mahama and the current chairman.

His criticism of the party leadership has often been interpreted by some as bitterness. However, he has consistently refuted such claims, insisting that his commentary stems from a desire to see the party improve.

Responding to backlash from NDC supporters after the party’s victory in the 2024 general elections, Koku Anyidoho reiterated that, he does not depend on government appointments for his livelihood.

“For the record; I never served on any Board under President Mills and President Mahama. So, please don’t laugh yourself out of existence if you’re thinking I will not serve on any Board under the 2nd term of JM. God will keep me upgraded,” he stated in another post.

Koku Anyidoho applauds Dr. Bawumia for supporting leprosy survivor https://www.adomonline.com/koku-anyidoho-applauds-dr-bawumia-for-supporting-leprosy-survivor/ Fri, 27 Dec 2024 09:53:15 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2488052 Former Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Koku Anyidoho, has lauded Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for his compassionate gesture in funding the medical treatment of Priscilla, a four-year-old girl recovering from leprosy.

Koku Anyidoho expressed admiration for the vice president’s consistent support for the vulnerable, irrespective of their religious or social backgrounds.

He praised Dr. Bawumia, who was the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential candidate in the 2024 general elections, for prioritizing humanity and encouraged him to move forward despite his electoral defeat.

“One election cycle doesn’t define a man’s life. Dr. Bawumia is going on with his life, and that’s very important. Ayekoo,” Anyidoho shared on social media on December 26, 2024.

Dr. Bawumia himself described Priscilla’s visit to his home on Christmas Day as his “best Christmas gift.” The young girl, who had her leg amputated due to complications from leprosy, had returned from Italy after undergoing successful surgery, including the fitting of a prosthetic leg.

In a heartfelt post on December 26, the vice president wrote, “To God be the glory. Priscilla, a four-year-old cured leper from the Weija Leprosarium whom I sponsored for medical treatment of her amputated leg in Italy, visited me yesterday to show that she can now walk with her new leg. It was the best Christmas gift I could ask for.”

The post included a video capturing Priscilla’s emotional reunion with Dr. Bawumia at his Accra residence.

Accompanied by Rev. Father Andrew Campbell, caretaker of the Weija Leprosarium, and other officials, Priscilla walked into the vice president’s living room, where she was warmly embraced by him. Her bright smile and excitement touched everyone present, and she proudly stated in Twi, “I’m walking for Dr. Bawumia.”

Priscilla, abandoned at birth by her parents due to her condition, has been under the care of Rev. Father Campbell at the Weija Leprosarium. Despite multiple attempts to save her legs, her condition necessitated amputation.

Dr. Bawumia, who is a Patron of Lepers Aid Ghana and a regular visitor to the leprosarium, met Priscilla and committed to helping her.

He sponsored her trip and medical treatment in Italy, where she received specialized care and a prosthetic leg at one of the world’s leading facilities for such procedures.

After five months of treatment and recovery, Priscilla returned to Ghana, walking confidently on her new leg and radiating hope. Dr. Bawumia’s act of kindness underscores his dedication to supporting those in need and making a tangible difference in their lives.

Whether or not Koku Anyidoho will accept appointment from Mahama [Listen] https://www.adomonline.com/whether-or-not-koku-anyidoho-will-accept-appointment-from-mahama-listen/ Mon, 09 Dec 2024 16:44:21 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2481578

Executive Director of the Atta Mills Institute, Koku Anyidoho, has said he is not expecting any appointment from the next Mahama-led administration.

In this regard, the former National Democracy Congress(NDC) Deputy General Secretary has said he will not be worried if he doesn’t land any appointment.

This according to him is because he has never been close to the office of the former President who returns to power on January 7, 2025.

But he knows for sure that President-elect Mahama by now already knows the people he wants in his government.

Mr Anyidoho said this in an interview on Adom FM/TV following Mr Mahama’s victory in the just-ended 2024 election.

“I don’t doubt that Mahama has his people who he takes decisions with and he has his people already. In 2009 before Mills into power, we knew what we were going to do.

“I have not been close to the office of the former President and if he doesn’t give me anything, it will not worry me at all,” he stated.

However, he added he has a cordial relationship with Mr Mahama and will in the coming days go to his house to congratulate him.

Atta Mills’ son descends on Koku Anyidoho [Listen] https://www.adomonline.com/atta-mills-son-descends-on-koku-anyidoho-listen/ Tue, 29 Oct 2024 07:52:31 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2465532 Kofi Sam Atta Mills, son of former President Atta Mills, has slammed Koku Anyidoho, former Director of Communications under the Atta Mills administration, for his current anti-NDC stance.

Koku Anyidoho, previously the Deputy General Secretary of the NDC, has in recent years shown support for the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) and has been vocal in his criticism of the NDC and its flagbearer, John Mahama.

In an interview on Onua TV, Kofi Sam Atta Mills expressed disappointment, stating that Anyidoho’s recent alignment with the NPP damages his credibility and demonstrates a lack of principles.

“Back when Koku Anyidoho served as Communications Director, he stood against those who attacked Prof. Mills for pursuing a loan for the Atuabo Gas project. Those same critics wore black to Parliament, showed him a red card, and accused him of selling out the country. Yet now, Koku counts them as friends.”

He continued, “It shows a lack of principles. We don’t even recognize who he is anymore, and his credibility has been shattered. When you supported Prof. Mills, they criticized a $3 billion loan. But today, after seeing how much this government has borrowed, you’re siding with them, claiming they’re better than the Atta Mills-Mahama administration. Where does that leave you? When you act this way, your credibility is lost. That’s why I chose to stay out of this—I don’t see the point in participating in such contradictions.”

According to him, there will be various interpretations of the meaning of the slots selected by the various political parties.

The Electoral Commission(EC) on Friday conducted the balloting exercise for the 13 presidential candidates who have been cleared to contest the December 7 election.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) picked the number one slot while the largest opposition, the National Democratic Congress(NDC) picked number 8.

To the NPP, the position proves that their victory in the 2024 election is possible but to the NDC, it is a divine orchestration for them to break the 8.

However, the Atta Mills Institute founder in a tweet on X stated that regardless of the interpretations, number one is above number 8.

“Ghanaians can rest assured that they will hear lots of narratives around these 2 key positions on the ballot paper. Bottom line; number 1 is on top of number 8. “Magana ya kare,” he wrote.

Making the presentation last Tuesday, Mr Anyidoho said he was doing so because the University of Ghana was his alma mater and that it was only proper that as a politician of repute, he shared his experience with political science lecturers and students alike.

“It is an honour to give back to this great university and though I was not in the Political Science Department, I deem it appropriate to make this token presentation to this great department for the sake of contributing to academic knowledge,” Mr Anyidoho said.

Students

Mr Anyidoho thanked the department for accepting the gesture and expressed the hope that his experience would inspire more past students to share their written experiences with the university in general and the Political Science Department in particular.

Receiving the books, the Head of the Political Science Department, Professor Alidu Seidu, thanked Mr Anyidoho for his exemplary gesture.

“We are very grateful to you for making copies of your book available for our library so our students can read and cite portions in their academic exercises,” he said, and added that the “The good thing about writing is that, your works far outlive you and generations get to share in the experience they were not part of”.

Book

Among other things, the book is a chronicle of Koku’s experiences around President Atta-Mills, and the Presidency as well as some insights into the leadership style of the late President.

It also captures some aspects of President Jerry John Rawlings’s time as President and gives perspectives on how Koku continues to perceive the agenda of nation-building.

The story of how President Nana Akufo-Addo agreed to construct Asomdwe Park is succinctly illustrated.

According to him, this is part of a government initiative to lessen the burden on parents financing the cost of their children’s education.

Mr. Mahama announced this at the launch of the NDC Youth Manifesto.

But in a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter), Anyidoho questioned the feasibility of Mahama’s proposal and called on key stakeholders in the education sector, including the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG), the Teachers and Educational Workers’ Union (TEWU), and the Committee of Vice-Chancellors (VCs), to critically assess the practicality of the promise.

Mr. Anyidoho expressed skepticism about how the initiative would be structured and funded, particularly in light of the challenges faced by the Free Senior High School (SHS) programme.

He pointed out the potential difficulties in ensuring dedicated funding for both Free SHS and the proposed free tertiary education for Level 100 students.

“You criticize the Free SHS programme for not being properly structured, yet you make this promise? Respectfully, how is it going to be structured? Do you mean ‘ALL’ Level 100 students in ‘ALL’ Tertiary Schools? How will it be funded? Hmmm!!! Ghana my Motherland,” Anyidoho wrote.

In another post, he further questioned, “Sir, HOW are you going to ensure dedicated funding for Free SHS and also ensure dedicated funding for ALL Level 100 students in ALL Tertiary Schools???”

Mr. Anyidoho cautioned against the imposition of policies that could exacerbate existing challenges in the education sector.

He urged educational bodies to speak out on the feasibility of Mahama’s proposal, warning against allowing politicians to introduce policies that could lead to further problems in the future.

‘Buffon’ – Vanderpuye slams Koku Anyidoho over Atta Mills’ memorial day chaos https://www.adomonline.com/buffon-vanderpuye-slams-koku-anyidoho-over-atta-mills-memorial-day-chaos/ Thu, 25 Jul 2024 11:42:39 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2425700 The Member of Parliament for Odododiodoo, Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye has launched a vitriolic attack on former National Democratic Congress (NDC) Deputy General Secretary, Koku Anyidoho.

According to him, his conduct at the memorial service for late former President John Evans Atta Mills at Asomdwee Park on Wednesday, July 24 was uncalled-for.

“What happened was uncalled-for, unwarranted and unexpected, but I will put it all at the doorstep of the government which is allowing this ‘buffoon’ of a guy called Anyidoho…the way he’s behaving, he’s playing a ‘buffoonery’” he fumed.

Mr. Vanderpuye however blamed government for allowing Mr. Anyidoho to use such an important platform to vent his anger on NDC flagbearer,

“Anyidoho’s arrogance and lack of humility are unbecoming of someone who worked under President Mills. His actions were purely motivated by his hatred for President Mahama, and he aimed to disrupt the program knowing that President Mahama and the NDC executives would be present” he added in an interview on Citi FM.

The confusion arose when Koku Anyidoho, the dismissed deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), extended his scheduled time, causing a delay in the subsequent NDC event planned to commemorate 12 years since President Mills’ passing.

Two wreath-laying ceremonies were planned for the day, with the first organized by Mr. Anyidoho.

This event ran over time, delaying the second ceremony organized by the NDC and the JEA Mills Memorial Heritage.

According to the late President’s brother, Samuel Atta-Mills, Mr. Anyidoho brought in individuals he referred to as fake family members and instructed them to remain at the venue, preventing the NDC from commencing their program on time.

“You’re not related to this man and anybody could come here and celebrate him. He [Atta Mills] is for the country so why would you want to clash with us? And as a coward as he is, he ran away and left the people here – the fake family over here.

“… We didn’t intimidate anybody but when persuasion fails, force is applied. Indeed, we are at Asomdwee Park but when we talk to you and you don’t understand, sometimes a little bit of encouragement will make you move,” he explained.

In an interview with JoyNews’ Maxwell Agbagba, Mr. Atta-Mills, who also serves as the MP for Komenda Edina Eguafo Abrem constituency in the Central Region, alleged that Mr. Anyidoho is backed by ‘powerful individuals.’

“When they advise you and you don’t listen, this is what happens. But Koku should know that he’s hiding behind a political power. Every political power in this world has an expiration date. A day will come that the political power he is hiding behind will expire,” he warned.

Commenting on the incident, Mercy Araba Ahema Quarshie, the sister of former President Atta Mills, described it as ugly and disgusting, insisting that the attendees of the earlier ceremony were not their relatives.

I am convinced John Mahama does not love the NDC – Koku Anyidoho https://www.adomonline.com/i-am-convinced-john-mahama-does-not-love-the-ndc-koku-anyidoho/ Wed, 26 Jun 2024 09:11:57 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2413505 Former Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Samuel Koku Anyidoho, has intensified his critique of the party’s flagbearer, former President John Dramani Mahama, questioning his commitment to the NDC.

He expressed his dismay over Mahama’s apparent disregard for significant dates in the party’s calendar.

“When it comes to the NDC as a party, we cannot erase June 4th from our history, nor can we ignore December 31st. When June 4th arrived, John Mahama, the leader and flagbearer of the party in an election year, couldn’t be bothered,” Anyidoho stated, highlighting Mahama’s lack of acknowledgment on key dates.

He continued, “The third date was June 22nd, which would have marked the 77th birthday of former President Rawlings if he were still alive, and John Mahama couldn’t be bothered. So, I ask myself, if you love the NDC, why don’t you cherish these days associated with the NDC?”

Mr. Anyidoho went on to underscore his belief that Mahama’s entry into the NDC was driven more by personal political ambitions than a genuine commitment to the party’s values and legacy.

“I am now convinced beyond a reasonable doubt that John Mahama’s entry into the NDC was to pursue his personal political agenda and not out of interest in the growth, development, and sustainability of the National Democratic Congress,” he asserted in an interview on Top Radio.

Despite his critical stance toward Mahama and the current NDC leadership, Mr. Anyidoho remains a member of the party.

In contrast, he has openly praised Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), on various occasions.

Mr. Anyidoho said the state providing retired President’s with these facilities is a “despicable culture” that needed to stop.

He posted on X (June 20, 2024) that he would consider a protest to drive home the demand that President’s on retirement should not acquire state property or continue to live at the expense of the state in their retirement.

“This despicable culture must stop. I will also organize a demonstration to stop all Presidents from acquiring state property after they enjoy all the largesse of the state while in office. It is extremely disgraceful. President Akufo-Addo must ask for nothing to set a precedent,” he captioned his post.

Accompanying the post was a 2016 letter by the then-outgoing President John Dramani Mahama, requesting particular buildings as his office and residence as provided by law for former presidents.

Koku Anyidoho sends harsh question to Mahama over Atta Mills https://www.adomonline.com/koku-anyidoho-sends-harsh-question-to-mahama-over-atta-mills/ Wed, 19 Jun 2024 11:54:48 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2410525 Former General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has lampooned the party’s falgbearer, former President John Mahama for not honouring late former President John Evans Atta Mills.

He claimed no national or regional monuments were named after late Professor Mills in the erstwhile Mahama administration.

Mr. Anyidoho expected the former President to even hnour his predecessor with a national monument while completing the remaining six months of Mills’ term in 2012.

In an X post dated June 18, 2024, Anyidoho highlighted that while Alfred Oko Vanderpuije, then Mayor of Accra and now Member of Parliament for Ablekuma South named a road in Accra after Mills, Mahama did not take similar initiatives.

“As we continue to speak to facts, do you know that apart from Oko Vanderpuye using his position as Mayor of Accra to name the High Street after President Atta-Mills, JM on his own did NOT name anything after his late boss?” Anyidoho questioned.

Anyidoho has also accused Mr. Mahama of neglecting Asomdwee Park, where Mills was buried.

The park was recently refurbished through a collaboration between Anyidoho’s Atta Mills Institute and the Coastal Development Authority (CoDA).

In August 2012, a month after Mills’ death, the Accra Metropolitan Assembly, led by Vanderpuije, resolved to rename the Accra High Street to “Evans Atta Mills Street” and the new Millennium City School at the Salvation Army Cluster of Schools to “President Evans Atta Mills Educational Center of Excellence.”

Mr. Vanderpuije announced that these changes would be effective before Mills’ burial on August 10, 2012.

2024 Election: Why NDC could ‘suffer’ in the Northern region – Koku Anyidoho https://www.adomonline.com/2024-election-why-ndc-could-suffer-in-the-northern-region-koku-anyidoho/ Tue, 18 Jun 2024 16:13:08 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2410165

Former Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Koku Anyidoho, has predicted a significant loss of votes for the party in the Northern region, a stronghold, in the upcoming December 7, 2024, general election.

Speaking on Kumasi-based Oyerepa TV on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, Mr. Anyidoho attributed the potential decline to three main factors.

Firstly, he cited the discontent among the Dagombas over the removal of Haruna Iddrisu as Minority Leader, suggesting  they could vote against the NDC.

Secondly, he said President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo appointing Northerners to key government positions, such as Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam as Finance Minister could win the NPP votes in the north.

“If you combine the three Northern regions, North East, Northern Region, Savannah, the North East Region has 6 seats; NPP has 4, we have 2. Northern proper (Region) has 18, NPP has 9, and NDC has 9. Savannah has 7, we have 4, they have 3. When you add them all up, NPP has one more seat than NDC, something unprecedented. And this was when Bawumia was just a running mate.

“Now that he is the flagbearer, the dynamics have shifted. This is North East where he has already made an impact. In the Northern Region itself, something has changed. What happened? NDC mishandled the transition of power in the minority, making it appear as if Haruna was disgracefully removed.”

He continued, “Haruna is Dagomba, right? And he is part of the 9-9. Shortly after his removal as Minority Leader, Nana Addo, in his reshuffle this year, appointed almost all the Dagomba NPP MPs to ministerial positions, including the Finance Minister.

Why Koku Anyidoho prefers a humble mate over a co-driver https://www.adomonline.com/why-koku-anyidoho-prefers-a-humble-mate-over-a-co-driver/ Mon, 13 May 2024 14:30:00 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2393910
In a tweet, he said he prefers a humble mate who acknowledges the need to wait for his turn to drive than an arrogant mate who considers himself more important than the driver.
“I prefer a humble mate who admits he wants to wait for his time to drive, to an arrogant mate who says he is a co-driver and believed he was more important than the driver” Anyidoho stated in his tweet.
Mr. Anyidoho’s tweet is a shade to NDC running mate, Professor Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang who said she would be a co-pilot to former President, John Mahama should they win the December polls.
However, Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has said he has been a driver’s mate for the past 7 years and has patiently awaited his turn to be a driver.
The position taken by the Vice President, Koku Anyidoho said it is apt because a mate must wait for his master to finish his job before taking over.
“The man who prides himself in being a co-driver, so he considered himself to be better than his boss and not a humble mate, took over and messed up all the driving formula. Damn!” he added.

Samuel Atta-Mills descends on Koku Anyidoho over brother’s autopsy report https://www.adomonline.com/samuel-atta-mills-descends-on-koku-anyidoho-over-brothers-autopsy-report/ Tue, 16 Jan 2024 13:53:41 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2342594 Samuel Atta-Mills, brother of the late former President John Evans Atta-Mills, has expressed strong reservations about the recent request made by Nana Enyimfua III, who claims to represent the late president’s family, for his autopsy report.

The Member of Parliament for Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) labelled the queenmother and her entourage as imposters and emphasised that they should not be taken seriously by Ghanaians.

In an interview with Adom FM on Monday, January 15, he asserted that these individuals were self-seekers and rather than genuine family members.

“Those who went to see the President for the Late President’s autopsy are not family members. They are imposters. Koku Anyidoho is not my relative. They are … people looking for something to eat. They should leave us alone,” he said.

This response comes after Nana Enyimfua III, who claimed to represent the Atta Mills’ family, requested the autopsy report from President Akufo-Addo for closure and historical records.

Accompanied by Koku Anyidoho, Founder of the Atta-Mills Institute and former aide to the late president, Nana Enyimfua III visited President Akufo-Addo in Accra to request the autopsy report of the late former president.

Expressing concern over what she said was the unknown cause of Atta-Mills’ death, Nana Enyimfua III emphasised the significance of obtaining the autopsy report for closure and historical records during the courtesy call on the president.

“Our biggest problem as a family is that ever since I was enstooled as queenmother, I have not seen any autopsy report in the family. That is the biggest problem I have with the family because if someone asks me what killed him, I won’t know if the doctor said he broke his arm or his neck or drank something.”

President Akufo-Addo in response to the calls for the late President’s autopsy report, agreed that it ought to be included in official public records.

The event which took place in Accra, saw over 100 licensed professionals receiving their certificates of induction and the swearing of their professional oath to practise as professional counsellors in Ghana.

Speaking on the theme “Ethics Excellence and Leadership in Psychological Practice in Ghana”, Professor Angela Ofori-Atta, Chairperson for GPC Board admonished the inductees not to take their calling for granted.

She said the maintenance of high professional standards should not be compromised at any point in time since GPC would not accept any form of professional misconduct.

According to her, “continuous education” was key to their practice “because the renewal of their licenses will be highly dependent on concrete proof of building capacity at all times.”

Prof. Ofori-Atta, therefore asked all inductees to refrain from all acts of indiscipline and collusion with others for personal favour or financial gain against the interests of their clients or the profession.

In an interview with the media, Samuel Koku Anyidoho said, “I am very grateful to God for this great opportunity, and I pledge to do my possible best to work in the supreme interest of the GPC.”

“I have no doubt that my association with the GPC and other affiliated professional counseling organisations will go a long way to help the advocacy and transformational agenda of the Atta-Mills Institute,” he added.

Recently, Mr Anyidoho graduated from the Trinity Theological Seminary at the University of Ghana, Legon in Acccra.

Sam George recently referred to Bawumia as a “religious prostitute,” alleging that he publicly associates with both churches and mosques purely for political advantage. These comments were made during on Accra-based Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana show on November 7.

In response to Sam George’s remarks, Koku Anyidoho took to Twitter to express his disapproval, emphasizing that it is not Sam George’s role to judge someone’s religious beliefs.

“Let Sam George go and burn the sea. If he likes, he can insult all the men of God; it won’t automatically make his candidate President. Ghana belongs to all Ghanaians, not just a select few narrow-minded individuals” he stated.

Mr. Anyidoho also questioned Sam George’s credibility in determining someone’s religious affiliation and brought up the issue of former President John Mahama’s actions related to religious matters during his term.

He pointed out that, there is no religious doctrine that prohibits individuals from visiting or worshipping in both Christian and Muslim places of worship, even if they identify with one faith.

Koku Anyidoho: My Liberia story https://www.adomonline.com/koku-anyidoho-my-liberia-story/ Sun, 22 Oct 2023 08:17:18 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2308596 Under the gracious auspices of ECOWAS, I landed in Liberia on, October 6, 2023, as a member of the Observation Mission to play our sub-regional role of helping a Member State run a credible, peaceful and successful general election to elect a President, 15 Senators and 76 members of the House of Representatives.

Having completed the initial debriefing session at the Mamba Place Hotel, in Monrovia, on October 7, 2023, I was part of a 10-member team that deployed to the Nimba County, in the North-East of Liberia.

Nimba County, which is virtually “owned” by Prince Yormie Johnson (the current Senator who has been re-elected for another nine-year term), shares borders with the Republic of Cote d’Ivoire to the East and the Republic of Guinea to the North-West.

Its capital city is, Sanniquelle and its most populous city is, Ganta – where our Team lodged at the Jackie’s Hotel.

Nimba County is the largest of Liberia’s 15 Counties and within Liberia itself, Nimba County, which is named after Mount Nimba, is bordered by, Bong and Grand Bassa Counties to the West, Rivercess County to the South-West, and Grand Gedeh County to the South-East.

Nimba county is very rich in iron ore and I must admit that it was there that I saw iron ore in its very raw state for the first time in life as we drove into the County.

As is the case with Africa’s raw materials, I saw the iron ore being carted in railway skips to the ports for export – and only a few people benefit from the export earnings while the real owners of the raw material continue to wallow in abject poverty.

Driving into Nimba County certainly had its own ambiance and the optics of the journey was not one that hurt the curiosity of my eyes.

That is to say, there was a lot for the eye to explore driving from Monrovia into Nimba County – a journey of close to four hours.

As mentioned, the drive was not an eyesore, and I really enjoyed the scenic views of vast virgin green forests, vast tracts of rubber plantations (another of the country’s natural resource assets).

Indeed, the Firestone Company that manufactures car tyres, has been rooted in Liberia for decades because it gets its base raw material, rubber, from there.

My driver, Mohammed Kabbah, told me how a plane flies into a particular mining area every Wednesday to carry tons of mined gold out of the country.  Oh Africa!!!

When shall we once again get Leaders like the immediate post-independence ones like Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah who were more interested in preserving our resources than the current status-quo of greedily exporting it for personal gain which is shared amongst, cronies, families, concubines, and friends.

As regards the elections itself, though quite a cumbersome process, the system is quite thorough – especially the manual vote counting process which is extremely thorough and makes it difficult for brazen rigging.

The elections took place in the current rainy season which made it extremely difficult to reach outlandish parts of the countries due to bad and non-existent access roads.

The elections run smoothly and per the Country’s Electoral Laws, the National Electoral Commission (NEC), has up to 15 days to announce the official final results but as we know, there has been the official announcing of a second round of voting to be contested by incumbent President, His Excellency George Weah of the, Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC), and former Vice President, Joseph Boakai, of the United Party (UP).  President Weah obtained 43.79% and Joseph Boakai obtained 43.49%.

The run-off election is scheduled to take place on November 7, 2023, and anyone who obtains 50%+1, shall be declared winner by the NEC.

For the record, this election was the first time Liberia was running its own elections without the support of the United Nations since the end of the two civil wars and the return to democratic governance in 2005, and per my personal assessment, the nation acquitted itself quite well despite some hitches.

Professor Attahiru Jega, the immediate-past Chairman of Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), was the Head of the ECOWAS Mission and my Kotoka Primary School mate cum University of Ghana mate, Josephine Nkrumah is the ECOWAS Permanent Representative in Liberia.  Josephine Nkrumah is the immediate past Chairperson of Ghana’s, National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE).

Of course, Dr. Abdel Fatau Musah, ECOWAS Commissioner for, Political Affairs Peace and Security (PAPS), was there with his able Team from Abuja to coordinate affairs for the Mission to run successfully – and that is exactly what happened.

As a neutral Observer, I am unable to say anything more about the elections beyond the obvious facts that have been put out as we await the run-off on November 7, 2023.

Upon my return to Monrovia from Nimba County, I had the opportunity to explore the capital city a bit more and I saw the abandoned citadel that was once occupied by President Charles Taylor.  Once a no-go area, the place has been left inhabited and it speaks volumes to the fleeting nature of all human power and existence.  As it is said; “all shall pass”!

I saw where President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf used to live as President and I also saw the Ministerial Complex she built for the State.

I saw the country’s supreme court building that they have named, Temple of Justice.

Indeed, ECOWAS held our final press briefing at the main conference room of the Ministerial Complex – very imposing structure.

It was interesting seeing Providence Island, where the first batch of freed slaves landed via ship in 1820 before the official formation of the Republic of Liberia in 1847.

I am grateful to my driver, Mohammed Kabbah, the Jackie’s Hotel in Nimba County, as well as the Bella Casa Hotel in Monrovia for giving us places to lay our heads comfortably.

The Ghanaland restaurant in Monrovia also allowed Ghanaians on the Mission to satisfy our culinary desires with typical Ghanian food.

Having worked for the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) Office in Ghana in the late 90’s, I worked directly with Liberian refugees across Ghana especially at the Budumburam Refugee Camp and being in Liberia brought back heavy memories of how our brethren had to navigate the unforgettable bitter years of war, death, destruction and permanent scars.

May Liberia never see war again and I remain most grateful to ECOWAS for the revered opportunity it continues to give me as an International Elections Observer of repute across the sub region.

To God Almighty be all the glory now and always.

According to the former Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the former Trade Minister is only a crybaby who wants to be breastfed.

His comment comes after the former NPP presidential hopeful officially announced his resignation from the NPP.

He also declared to contest the 2024 elections as an independent candidate under the banner of the “Movement for Change.”

Taking to X formerly Twitter, Mr Anyidoho questioned the rationale behind Mr Kyerematen’s decision after he exited the NPP after the 2007 presidential primary.

Mr Anyidoho emphasised that, politics is not for cry babies but for men and women who have the heart to brave storms.

He further raised concerns about the number of political parties that would have existed in Ghana if politicians left their parties over heckling to form new ones.

Prepare for defeat if you drop Jane Opoku-Agyemang – Koku Anyidoho tells Mahama https://www.adomonline.com/prepare-for-defeat-if-you-drop-jane-opoku-agyemang-koku-anyidoho-tells-mahama/ Tue, 19 Sep 2023 10:02:58 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2295735 Former Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Koku Anyidoho, has issued a stern warning to flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama over his choice of a running mate.

Although Mr. Mahama is yet to choose a candidate ahead of the 2024 general elections, speculations are that he may choose between former Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, and his 2020 running mate, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang.

But Mr. Anyidoho is of the view that, the 2024 polls will be a disaster for the opposition party should Mahama choose any other candidate other than Prof. Naana Opoku-Agyemang.

“I am very much concerned about issues of integrity and no matter which way we examine it, Professor Naana Opoku-Agyemang is light years ahead of Julius and all the other names being bandied about and if John Mahama makes a mistake and makes the wrong choice, he will carry his cross of defeat again for the third time – and he will not be forgiven” he stated.

The former NDC deputy General Secretary could not fathom why Prof Opoku-Agyemang is being blamed for the defeat in 2020 when in fact the credibility of Mr. Mahama was in question.

“Was Jane Naana the one to deal with the personal problems and heavy burden of the flagbearer? Certainly not! If the flagbearer himself and his close aides failed woefully in handling all the heavy missiles from the NPP, why blame the running mate?” he quizzed.

Koku Anyidoho is of the certain issue of “integrity” will be a big issue in next year’s election and if the NDC allows the flagbearer to play “cha cha” with it, the party would have itself to blame.

Taking to Twitter, he criticised IGP’s accusers whom he labeled as “lazy people,” for harboring jealousy against someone who has risen through the ranks of the Police Service through hard work and merit.

In a tweet, Anyidoho stated, “When individuals who resort to lobbying and undermining others to reach the top witness those who ascend through dedication, sacrifices, and merit, they often react with envy and resort to spreading baseless stories. However, God rewards the deserving. As someone who has experienced this, I can attest to it.”

The former Director of Communications at the presidency revealed that then Vice President John Evans Atta Mills appointed Dr. Dampare as an aide-de-camp based on merit.

“Listening to IGP Dampare eloquently discuss his qualifications and remarkable journey within the police service, it becomes clear why Vice President Mills chose him as an aide-de-camp without any external influence” he stated.

Atta Mills Institute to ‘stay away’ from 11th anniversary of late President https://www.adomonline.com/atta-mills-institute-to-stay-away-from-11th-anniversary-of-late-president/ Mon, 24 Jul 2023 08:23:59 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2276048 The founder of the Atta Mills Institute, Samuel Koku Anyidoho, has announced the non-government organisation will stay away from activities to mark the 11th anniversary of late former President John Evans Atta Mills.

The former National Democratic Congress (NDC) Deputy Secretary announced the development on Twitter.

Although he did not state the reasons behind the decision, it is believed it is connected to fallout from 2021 during the 10th anniversary of Atta Mills’ death.

The late former President’s family threatened to use legal action to stop the operations of the institute.

His elder brother, Dr Cadman Mills noted the Institute has been used to create divisions and controversies which contradict what the late President John Mills stood for.

As a result, Mr Anyidoho hinted at a name change for the institute which he later rescinded after the Odomna family from Atta Mills’ maternal side at Ekumfi Otuam visited the Asomdwee Park with Mr Anyidoho.

The former Deputy National Democratic Congress (NDC) General Secretary has said he does not know Justice Torkonoo and may never know her.

But taking to Twitter after President Nana Akufo-Addo swore her in on Monday, Mr Anyidoho wished her well for climbing the ladder of women occupying top positions in Ghana.

“I wish her well for rising meritoriously to follow a tradition of women occupying the 4th most important Office of the Land.

“I hear she is God-fearing. Madam, look up to God and do what is right in His sight. Ayekoo. Shalom,” Mr Anyidoho wrote.

Justice Torkornoo will be the third female Chief Justice in the history of the country after Justice Georgina Theodore Woode and Sophia Akuffo.

She has over 19 years experience and takes over from Justice Kwesi Anin Yeboa as Ghana’s 15th Chief Justice.

She has served at the High Court, Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court, where she was appointed in 2019 by President Akufo-Addo.

In a Twitter post on April 26, 2023, the former NDC deputy General Secretary claimed it will be a curse on Ghana if Mr. Mahama holds the Sword of State for the third time.

He explained that, the reason the former President is seeking to return to the presidency is “greed”.

“Let’s not allow John Mahama to curse Ghana with his greedy agenda,” Mr Anyidoho tweeted.

Below is the tweet:

He also feels vindicated about the conduct of National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, popularly known as General Mosquito, following the change in its parliamentary leadership.

Touching on the change which was announced on Tuesday, Mr Anyidoho alleged that it was influenced by a hideous agenda of the party’s Chairman, Asiedu Nketia.

In series of tweets after the change was made public, he expressed his misgivings and lamented the future of the party under Mr Nketia.

“Extreme anger brewed in Asiedu-Nketia’s NDC pot. Lots of fire under the umbrella. I weep for my beloved NDC,” he noted in one of his tweets.

“Oyiwa. The deadly seeds that have been sowed over the years that I continue to talk about, are germinating under the Leadership of Mosquito – the master brain behind lots of the bad seeds.

“As for me; my vindication lies in the womb of time. ‘A ye pinsoooooooo’ “, another related tweet said.

Koku Anyidoho eats humble pie; congratulates Asiedu Nketia https://www.adomonline.com/koku-anyidoho-eats-humble-pie-congratulates-asiedu-nketia/ Tue, 20 Dec 2022 18:37:03 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2198209 A former Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Samuel Koku Anyidoho, has finally been humbled over Johnson Asiedu Nketia’s victory in the Chairmanship race.

In a tweet, Mr Anyidoho on Tuesday congratulated Mr Nketia on his win.

The Atta Mills Institute founder, ahead of the Congress on Saturday, was optimistic his former boss will suffer a humiliating defeat.

He said that over the years, he has told the NDC that its problem is Johnson Asiedu Nketia and that the party will have an opportunity to do away with him entirely when he loses against Chairman Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo.

But in a shocking twist of events, General Mosquito, as he is popularly known, secured a landslide victory against his predecessor Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo.

The 65-year-old longest-serving NDC General Secretary secured 65.17% of the votes while Mr Ofosu-Ampofo got 33.81% of the votes.

I won’t commit suicide over Asiedu Nketia’s victory – Koku Anyidoho https://www.adomonline.com/i-wont-commit-suicide-over-asiedu-nketias-victory-koku-anyidoho/ Tue, 20 Dec 2022 13:15:44 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2198042 A former Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Koku Anyidoho, says he will not harm himself over Asiedu Nketia’s chairmanship victory.

According to the former Communications Director at the Presidency, though he didn’t want Mr Nketia to win, he is not peeved about his victory.

Mr Anyidoho added that this will not prevent him from criticising the party when it falters.

He added that persons who think the outcome of the elections will cause him to commit suicide are joking.

“I didn’t want Mosquito to win: he won and so I shd commit suicide? Ampofo didn’t want Mosquito to win; has he committed suicide? rubbish to say that I predicted a loss for Mosquito and he won so I shd keep quiet.

“How many of us have not predicted wins in our lives and lost?,” he said in a tweet on Sunday.

Mr Anyidoho denied allegations that there is a rift between him and his former boss, Johnson Asiedu Nketia.

Speaking to JoyNews, he said despite his issues with the party, Mr Nketia asked him to join a committee that would facilitate the nomination of a flagbearer for the 2020 general election.

“When we entered 2019, Asiedu Nketia called me that ‘Koku, we’re going to form a committee to work around nominating our flagbearer. Can you come and serve on the committee?’ I said fine. So I went and served on the committee.

“The records are there. So the committee elected President Mahama to run again, I was a member of that committee. If I was bitter that committee would have had records,” he said.

According to him, his former boss admitted that the party had realised his “neutrality” in the party was “needed so that the other candidates can warm up to the committee.”

Mr Anyidoho was formally expelled from the NDC in a letter dated July 27, 2021, after investigations were conducted to ascertain the veracity of allegations levelled against him by two members of the party.

The allegations included misconduct and anti-party behaviour.

Despite the expulsion, Mr Anyidoho continues to proclaim his love for the party and has said that he will not leave. He also disputes he has been properly expelled from the party.

Koku Anyidoho likens Asiedu Nketia’s victory to biblical King Nebuchadnezzar’s reign https://www.adomonline.com/koku-anyidoho-likens-asiedu-nketias-victory-to-biblical-king-nebuchadnezzars-reign/ Mon, 19 Dec 2022 12:22:42 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2197526 A former Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Samuel Koku Anyidoho, has prophesied doom for the party following the turnout of Saturday’s Delegates’ Congress.

Mr Anyidoho was optimistic his arch rival, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, would face an embarrassing defeat as a first-time National Chairman contender, which would have been a renewed hope for incumbent Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo.

However,  5,574 delegates which constituted 65.17% of total votes casts, disagreed with Mr Anyidoho by deciding that Mr Nketia alias General Mosquito is the man for the job.

Congratulating the newly-elect executives, Mr Anyidoho reiterated that the NDC will witness a reign that would plague the party just like biblical King Nebuchadnezzar’s.

While King Nebuchadnezzar is known to be one of the greatest kings, his reign thereafter earned him the position as the greatest enemy his subjects faced until a point he was referred as a “destroyer of nations”.

The former Deputy General Secretary, in series of parabolic tweets, hinted this is the same fate that will befall Chairman Nketia.

Mr Anyidoho believes God in his infinite wisdom has allowed a “wicked king to reign so people will see the wickedness of that king, and turn to God for mercy.”

For those mocking him over his failed agenda against Mr Nketia, he responded that it is ‘foolish’ for him to be gagged just because he made a prediction which did not come to pass.

Prior to the elections, Mr Ahyidoho diagnosed the then General Secretary as the problem of the NDC, adding that victory will slip the party’s hands should Mr Nketia be elected.

The hours-long election ended with Mr Nketia as Chairman, Awudu Sofo Azourka, Dr Sherry Ayittey and Abanga Yakubu Alhassan were elected as first, second and third vice chairpersons respectively.

Fifi Fiavi Kwetey takes over as General Secretary, Barbara Serwaa Asamoah retained her position as Deputy General Secretary with Gbande Foyo Mustapha as well as Joseph Yamin, who won the position of National Organiser.

Sammy Gyamfi has been retained as the Communications Officer after he contested unopposed and was elected together with Malik Basintale and Ako Gunn as his deputies.

Mamah Mohammed Cole Younger won Zongo Caucus and Victor Wonder Kutor, Araba Tagoe, Cecillia N. Asaga, Victoria Kuma-Mintah and Ephraim Nii Tan Sackey for NEC members.

Mr Anyidoho believes God listens to humble people and will therefore listen to President Akufo-Addo who he describes as a humble man.

The former Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) made this request in a post on his Twitter page.

He shared a photo of the President on his knees with a hand believed to be that of a clergyman praying for him.

To Mr Anyidoho, that was the second time he had seen President Akufo-Addo embark on such an act.

Quoting inspiration from 2 Chronicles 7:14, he requested that God hears President Akufo-Addo’s prayers and heals Ghana.

Samuel Koku Anyidoho said Mosquito’s only motivation to be chairman is to use the position for his “personal perfidious ambition”.

He made the comment in series of posts on Twitter while announcing his come back to active NDC politics.

Mr Anyidoho explained that he is against the candidature of General Mosquito because he is the “most poisonous and destructive element within the top of NDC.”

The former Deputy General Secretary is convinced General Mosquito is not fit to be NDC National Chairman.

Mr Anyidoho added that though incumbent National Chairman, Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, has failed, General Mosquito is certainly “not the alternative”.

I’m back to active NDC politics – Koku Anyidoho https://www.adomonline.com/im-back-to-active-ndc-politics-koku-anyidoho/ Tue, 30 Aug 2022 11:05:55 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2156164 The suspended former Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Koku Anyidoho, has said he is returning to engage in active politics in the party.

According to him, his intention is to legitimately take back the party from those who have hijacked the party.

In a Twitter post, he said he has not been sacked by the party despite the party’s communique that he has been sacked, adding that nobody can actually sack him from the party.

“Nobody has sacked me from NDC and nobody can sack me from NDC,” he added.
Meanwhile, it would be recalled that on February 9, 2021, the NDC announced that it has suspended its former Deputy General Secretary, Mr Anyidoho.

The suspension, according to the party, followed two separate petitions by Mubarak Abdul-Karim, the Oti Regional Communications Officer of the party and Eric Adjei (Bono Regional Deputy Communications Officer of the party.

The two party officials in their complaint alleged that Mr Anyidoho had misconducted himself and breached the party’s disciplinary code. The Functional Executive Committee of the party, thus, instituted investigations into the allegations against Mr Anyidoho.

After five months of investigations, the party, through a statement signed by its General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, said it found Mr Anyidoho guilty of the charges that were levelled against him by the petitioners.

The party said it found Mr Anyidoho guilty on counts of misconduct and anti-party behaviour in relation to article 48(1)(9)(a) of the party’s constitution.

“At its meeting on Tuesday, July 27, 2021, the Functional Executive Committee (FEC) of the NDC considered the report and recommendations of the National Disciplinary Committee on the case of misconduct and anti-party behaviour brought against you (Koku Anyidoho), pursuant to article 48(1)(9)(a) of the NDC constitution,” part of the statement from the party stated.

“The Functional Executive Committee (FEC) acting in compliance of Article 48(1) of the NDC Constitution unanimously adopted the report and accepts full responsibility for your expulsion from the party,” the letter dated Tuesday, July 27, 2021 said.

“You are, therefore, by the decision of FEC expelled from the NDC and for that matter you are no more recognised as a member the party and cannot carry yourself as such.”

But Mr Anyidoho insists that so long as he is concerned, he has not received any communication from the party insisting that he still belongs to the party.

Addressing the family, a former aide to the late President, Koku Anyidoho reiterated that the tomb of the late President had not been tampered with and pleaded with the family to forgive him for any wrong done.

“This is what we’ve done. We haven’t tampered with the grave. This is what government has done. Who would tamper with the grave when National Security is guarding the place? There are padlocks, there are gates here, who would tamper with the grave?

“This is just to ensure a beautiful resting place for our father. If this is what I did, and did the wrong thing, what I did isn’t good, then forgive me,” Mr Anyidoho told the family.

He also introduced to the family the National Security Officer in charge of the Asomdwee Park and assured the family of 24-hour surveillance of the resting place of the late President.

Reacting to Mr Anyidoho’s apology, head of the Odomnaa family, which is the former President’s maternal family, Nana Kwabena Biney, noted that they were getting ready to invite Mr Anyidoho to Ekumfi for allegedly tampering with the remains of the late President.

He noted that they, however, heard his plea in the media adding that in refurbishing the park, the family should have been notified.

“We understood from the ceremony that it was an inauguration of the refurbished park, not the family ceremony. Secondly, we knew nothing about that ceremony.

“Also, according to Fanti custom, we observe the anniversary on the day when the person was buried. So according to our calculation, that day falls on this day that’s why we’re here as a family for this ceremony,” the family head explained.

The family also commended President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and his government for the refurbishment of the Asomdwee park.

In attendance at the ceremony was Queen Mother Ekumfi Asaman/Otuam Nana Ennymfua III.

The late Prof Mills’ brother, Cadman Mills accused Mr Anyidoho of tempering with the remains of his brother, an accusation Mr Anyidoho has denied.

Mr Anyidoho said all he did was call on the government to renovate the park to beautify the final resting place of his late boss.

Koku Anyidoho backtracks on renaming of Atta Mills Institute https://www.adomonline.com/koku-anyidoho-backtracks-on-renaming-of-atta-mills-institute/ Thu, 11 Aug 2022 13:46:33 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2148509 The founder of the Atta Mills Institute, Samuel Koku Anyidoho, has rescinded his decision to change the name of the Non-Governmental Organisation.

In a post on Twitter, he noted the Atta Mills Institute will live forever, stating nobody has changed the name.

In series of tweets posted on July 26, 2022; the one-time aide of late President John Evans Atta Mills disclosed a name change.

The new name of the outfit, he noted, will be ‘Koku Anyidoho Institute’ but added the aim which is to promote the legacy of Atta Mills would remain the same.

This was in the wake of a threat by the late former President’s family to use legal actions to stop the operations of the institute.

His elder brother, Dr Cadman Mills noted the Institute has been used to create divisions and controversies which contradict what the late President Mills stood for.

It is, however, not clear what has informed Mr Anyidoho’s decision but it comes barely 24 hours after the Odomna family from Atta Mills’ maternal side at Ekumfi Otuam visited the Asomdwee Park with Mr Anyidoho.

The family was at the park on Wednesday, August 10, 2022, to commemorate a decade of his passing during which they acknowledged Mr Anyidoho as a member of their family.

Founder of the Atta Mills Institute and former aide to the late statesman, Samuel Koku Anyidoho was also present.

NDC will welcome Koku Anyidoho back – Sammy Gyamfi https://www.adomonline.com/ndc-will-welcome-koku-anyidoho-back-sammy-gyamfi/ Mon, 08 Aug 2022 14:10:52 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2146932 National Communications Officer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, has said embattled former Deputy General Secretary of the party, Koku Anyidoho is free to return to NDC.

Mr Gyamfi said no one will prevent Mr Anyidoho from coming back to the NDC if he wishes to.

The NDC man made the comment in an exclusive interview on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem Monday.

Koku Anyidoho was expelled from the NDC following the recommendations of the party’s National Disciplinary Commission.

The former presidential spokesperson in the erstwhile Mills administration was found guilty of misconduct and anti-party behaviour brought against him by some NDC members.

“The Committee’s report found you guilty of the said allegations of misconduct and anti-party behaviour and recommended your outright expulsion from the Party,” a statement by General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia said.

But, Koku Anyidoho has blamed his woes on what he claims are the machinations of former President John Mahama.

He maintained that he is still a member of the NDC and not a cult headed by John Dramani Mahama.

However, Sammy Gyamfi said the party holds no grudges against its former Deputy General Secretary.

“He [Koku] will be welcomed back to NDC and I’m looking forward to that,” he added.

Koku Anyidoho’s name on Atta Mills’ bust must be dropped – Prof Gyampo https://www.adomonline.com/koku-anyidohos-name-on-atta-mills-bust-must-be-dropped-prof-gyampo/ Tue, 26 Jul 2022 13:54:36 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2142151 A political scientist, Professor Ransford Gyampo, has called for the removal of Koku Anyidoho‘s name on a new bust erected in honour of late former President John Atta Mills.

According to him, Mr Anyidoho’s role cannot be ruled out or underestimated in the commemoration of Prof. Mills’ legacy.

However, his [Koku] name on the sculpture makes it wordy and too clumsy, hence his call.

“Koku’s role is known and can never be discounted. But in humility, it must be dropped in order not to make the writings on the statue too clumsy and wordy,” Prof Gyampo wrote on his Facebook wall.

The monument has been erected at the Asomdwee Park in Accra and was unveiled on Sunday, July 24, 2022, following the rehabilitation of the graveyard.

This was during a wreath-laying ceremony to mark 10 years of his demise.

The words on it read: “This was unveiled by His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, President of the Republic of Ghana and assisted by Samuel Koku Anyidoho, Founder and CEO of Atta Mills Institute. Sunday, July 24, 2022. To God, Almighty be the Glory.”

This has generated controversies, especially as to why Prof Mills’ name was omitted with President Akufo-Addo and Mr Anyidoho’s name engraved.

Prof Gyampo, who believes President Akufo-Addo’s name on it is in the right direction, has proposed the wording should have read:

This statue of Prof J.E.A Mills, 3rd President of the 4th Republic (Jan 2009-July 2012), was unveiled by H.E. Nana Akufo-Addo, President of the Republic of Ghana, Sunday, July 24. 2022.

Meanwhile, Mr Anyidoho, who is the founder of the Atta-Mills Institute, has asked persons who have issues with his name on the bust to go and wipe it.

Mr Anyidoho says he will not be perturbed if some persons decide to clean his name as that will not mean he will be forgotten.

“They can go and clean it tomorrow morning but the world will never forget the role I, Koku Anyidoho, played in the rehabilitation of the Asomdwee Park,” he said on Accra-based Okay FM.

This has sparked debate among a section of social media users who have questioned why the late Statesman’s name was omitted from the monument in his honour.

But going further, the former aide to the late president stated the Park was all about him [Atta Mills] and an omission of the name wouldn’t change anything.

“Socal media users never want to laud any good thing because the bust is an image of late President Mills and the entire Asomdwee Park is in his name. His photos are all over the place so if it is written under the bust that it is unveiled by President Akufo-Addo, What is the big deal?” he quizzed.

I pleaded with Mahama to erect tombstone on Mills’ grave – Koku Anyidoho https://www.adomonline.com/i-pleaded-with-mahama-to-erect-tombstone-on-mills-grave-koku-anyidoho/ Mon, 25 Jul 2022 14:27:55 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2141567 Samuel Koku Anyidoho, the founder of the Atta Mills Institute, has reacted to criticisms that he has arrogated the name former President John Evans Atta Mills to himself without recourse to his family.

He has also been accused of engaging with the government to refurbish the Asomdwee Park, the final resting place of the late President without recourse to the family of Professor Mills.

In a radio interview Monday morning [July 25, 2022], Mr Anyidoho dismissed the criticisms and said while former President John Dramani Mahama was in office [July 24, 2012 to January 6, 2017], he pleaded with him [Mahama] to erect a tombstone on Mills’ grave and put the Asomdwee Park in a proper state but he was ignored.

He said normally, when a person passes on in Ghana, the family erects a tombstone in the first year memorial, but in Mills’ case, that was not done. There was no tombstone on his grave.

Besides, the Asomdwee Park where he was buried was left in a bad state.

He said after four and half years of President Magama’s tenure, that was not done.

When he (Anyidoho) initiated moves to plead with President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo after he succeeded President Mahama in 2017 to erect the tombstone and rehabilitate the Asomdwee Park, members of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) told him to wait till Mr Mahama was in power again so he could do it.

He claimed he was told it was unacceptable and it will amount to desecration if he did not wait for former President Mahama to do it.

In the radio interview with Accra based Oman FM monitored by Graphic Online, Mr Anyidoho commended President Akufo-Addo for agreeing to his request for the state to rehabilitate the park to a status befitting the stature of the late President Mills.

He gave an assurance that he would ensure the regular maintenance of the park.

Mr Anyidoho disagreed with the suggestion that he had no cordial relations with the Atta Mills family and said he has a “very well” cordial relations with the family.

He said that is why he has decided not to react to many of the accusations since it was not really coming from the family as a collective.

The ritual was performed on Sunday, July 24, 2022, in commemoration of the late former President Atta Mills, 10 years after his death.

Mr Anyidoho, an aide to the late Statesman, took to his Twitter page to share photos from the ceremony.

It captured leaves, a bottle of gin and a feather-like artefact on a bust-monument erected in Prof. Mills’ honour.

He described the ritual as stinking, claiming it was carried out because his former boss’ brother, Samuel Mills talked about it.

He went on to pray for forgiveness for the persons who carried out the ritual, stating that Mr Mills was a Christian and did not believe in it.

Mr Anyidoho and Mr Mills have been in the news for the past week following allegations that the former desecrated the former President’s tomb.

Mr Mills alleged that the government had allowed the Atta Mills Institute to tamper with his late brother’s grave which was against their custom.

But President Nana Akufo-Addo, speaking at the commissioning of the rehabilitated Asomdwee Park on Sunday, described the claims as false and unfortunate.

But, the family has warned him not to take the body of late Atta Mills as his bona fide property.

Brother of the late President, Samuel Atta Mills, said this in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Wednesday.

Mr Anyidoho, who was aide to the late President, has vowed to preserve his legacy on the 10th anniversary of his mentor.

As part of that, he lobbied for his final resting place, Asomdwee Park to be renovated to international standard.

Mr Anyidoho added that he feels duty bound to work assiduously in memory of the late President Atta Mills.

But Samuel Atta Mills said preserving the memory of his brother does not mean Mr Anyidoho should usurp the rights of the family.

“You can’t be Atta Mills than anyone; as a family, we are sick and tired of this boy,” he fumed.

The Komenda Edina Eguafo Abrem Member of Parliament could not fathom why just an aide to his brother is trying to be holier than the Pope.

Mr Anyidoho, the founder of Atta-Mills Institute and aide to the late Atta Mills, has said his outfit is rehabilitating the grave where the mortal remain of ‘Asomdwehene’ was buried.

According to the Komenda Edina Eguafo Abrem Member of Parliament, the current arrangements go against customs indicating, that “the family is ready to deal with him, traditionally or legally.”

“Is it right to allow someone who isn’t a family member to make changes to the grave without informing the family, or the traditional laws in the country not working?” he quizzed.

“After he opened the grave, what did he see, was the body in the grave or it was missing; did he steal a body part or buried something besides the body? Why is it that he always causes us to remember our pain,” he said, among other things, on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem show.

The furious brother of the late President noted that the family was unpleased about the situation and will take necessary traditional actions against Mr Anyidoho.

Where is the autopsy report of Atta Mills? – Koku Anyidoho asks https://www.adomonline.com/where-is-the-autopsy-report-of-atta-mills-koku-anyidoho-asks/ Wed, 20 Jul 2022 13:08:17 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2139870 Founder of Atta Mills Institute, Koku Anyidoho, has dared the brother of the late former President, John Evans Atta Mills, to produce the autopsy report of the death of his brother.

Mr Anyidoho and the Atta Mills Institute were accused on Tuesday by MP for KEEA, Samuel Atta Mills, for desecrating the tomb and grave of the late President in the name of renovation.

Speaking on Newsnite, Tuesday, he said “John Dramani Mahama refused to build Asomdwe Park, he deliberately refused. President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa is building Asomdwe park, is that what is hurting Sammy Atta Mills?

“Tell him to produce the autopsy report of the death of his brother…Where is the autopsy report of the death of your brother? Sammy Atta Mills has questions to answer,” he said.

Mr Anyidoho alleged that Mr Mills has not visited the graveside of his brother in the last 10 years “to care about the remains of his brother.”

He explained that the renovation at the Asomdwe Park is to “glorify God and Ghana to move away from the level of ignominy that Asomdwe Park sat in. Sammy Atta Mills should be ashamed of himself.”

He contended that the remains of the late President have not been removed.

This Sunday will mark the 10th Anniversary of the death of former President John Evans Atta Mills.

According to Mr Anyidoho, a memorial thanksgiving service will be held, after which President Akufo-Addo will commission the Asomdwe Park.

Meanwhile, the brother of former President, John Evans Atta Mills, is furious that the government has allowed the Atta Mills Institute to tamper with the grave of the former President.

The non-governmental organisation run by Mr Anyidoho, an aide to the late Prof. Atta Mills, says they are rehabilitating the ‘Asomdwe Park’ where the mortal remains of the ‘Asomdwehene’ were buried.

According to brother of the former President, Mr Mills, the current arrangement goes against customs.

“This is an insult to the family, this is an insult to we the Akans, this is an insult to the nation. The government allows an NGO and Coastal Development Authority to run Asomdwe Park. Why don’t we send another NGO to go and run Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum…the government has to provide the body of President John Evans Atta Mills, we want to find out where the body is…who in this government is authorising this nonsense?” he questioned.

Koku Anyidoho reveals latest interesting dream about Mills [Listen] https://www.adomonline.com/koku-anyidoho-reveals-latest-interesting-dream-about-mills-listen/ Tue, 12 Apr 2022 13:41:11 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2103715

Former Director of Communications under the erstwhile Professor Atta Mills‘ administration, Koku Anyidoho, has revealed his ex-boss is happy even in death.

According to him, since his boss died on July 24, 2012, he always appears to him in his sleep and in the latest, the late statesman appeared very excited about something.

“In the revelation just as Joseph dreamt and his brothers did not believe it, that was the same thing. He was very happy and thanked me for being loyal and not turning my back against him even in his death,” he revealed in an interview on Accra-based Okay FM.

This, to him, points to nothing but the Mills’ heritage and legacy that has been kept alive, particularly with the construction of the Asomdwee Park.

The former National Democratic Congress Deputy General Secretary had some time ago said the late Mills told him the only thing to make him rest in peace is for a monument to be built for him at Asomdwee Park.

Following the work that has been done on the park, Mr Anyidoho, who is also the founder of the Atta Mills Institute, revealed the late president appreciated him for it in the dream.

He added that the park, which is near completion, is expected to be commissioned on July 24, 2022, as part of activities to commemorate a decade after his death.
